The day of your flight We’re with you on the day. Your home screen gives quick access to boarding passes. Notifications and live activities (initially from London Heathrow and Gatwick) update you about gate changes and key information within 24 hours of departure. Not up to US Standards
If you fly United, Delta, or American regularly, this app will not impress you. BA prefers paper boarding passes for trans-Atlantic flights, and they must see your “documentation” at a check in counter when you get to the airport. Thus, in-app check-in is essentially useless. Next, the app is basically a front-end for their mobile website, thus many things are not native in the app and instead load the website. Updating passport details, the entire check-in process, any changes to your flight - these all load the mobile site. Should you get a mobile boarding pass, this will not work at Fas

Pathetic in 2026
Cannot believe this app (and their website) is STILL such a disjointed mess. In the app - and a pop up tells you to open the app? Check in for your flight? Sometimes it works. Pay extra for seat selection? Maybe. Seats available now that 5 minutes later are now blocked out. Call them directly to try and purchase a seat next to your partner? Agent says “sorry they’re restricted by airport”? Um, I’m confused here BA - am I not currently speaking with BA right now? Just a joke that BA’s app is still so far behind their competition.

While the staff at BA have always been very pleasant to deal with, for a seasoned business traveler I am always disappointed by their business. The app is barely functional and in this day and age, there is no excuse for such a poor experience. It is slow, when in the app it wants you to open the app, it often can’t find a reservation even when it is displayed on the home page. Mobile boarding passes are hit or miss. Rough start
Tough beginning to our flight from London to Johannesburg. No notifications or gate information so had to ask lounge staff where and when. Imagine my surprise when we learned the gate was in another building that required two train stops and started boarding 20 minutes ago. Then we get to our seats only to find that people in business class also like to take other people’s overhead space. Then sat in the least comfortable, narrowest business seat known to man. I am dreading trying to sleep in this sardine can. Thank god I am just tall and not fat or it would impossible.

Bag charge was not available at booking, forced to pay more at airport
When purchasing my ticket, the website states that one checked baggage is included on my international flight. Also that if you have connections, as long as they are shorter than the longest leg of the flight, it is covered. I was forced to pay at check in. Very poor explanation at time of ticket purchase. I would have paid in advance, but was not available. The customer service rep at bag drop was rude and told me to put a claim with customer service once home. I believed that British airways was a reputable airline. I will be choosing a different airline in the future.

Too much friction
It was incredibly hard ...ridiculously hard to change my flight..it took me over an hour to try to do it online and it would not take my payment..then it took me another 20 minutes with a chat box to finally get a number then when I got an actual person on the line it took another 25 minutes!!! How a major airline can put out an app of this poor quality is a disgrace. Completely disorganized UI, random web page loads within the app, confusing check-in, laggy bag tracking. Great hospitality
I was flying premium economy class while my mom was in business. I was constantly making sure she was comfortable and well settled in her seat and if needed anything. The steward overheard our conversation and came up to us to rest us assured. He was so friendly and helpful and told me that I needn’t worry about my mom and that he would make sure she was comfortable and well taken care of all the time. Through my years of booking with B.A. I have never had a smooth experience. Online, I can’t log in nor check my flights if I am somehow able to log on. On the application, same thing but now it won’t even open. I have been trying to move flights since February to no avail. I was unable to contact anyone as they never answered. Checking in via the app and tried to change seats for the 2 of us, each on the app. Phones show different available seats (!) and repeatedly said “problem, cannot change seats. “. So we gave up…and when the boarding passes appeared one of us had a new seat and the other was unchanged. Big problems with recent changes
The most recent changes to the BA app and website since my last trip in February: 1. Unable to verify that my US Known Traveler ID has been input or to input it if it’s not there for a specific reservation. The recent changes only show passport numbers and have removed all references to Known Traveler IDs. The app looks and feels like 2006 instead of 2026. There are numerous pages that open up in Safari instead of natively within the app. There is no quick way to add a boarding pass to the Apple wallet, as you have play around with multiple windows and clicks. There is also no widget that displays the time or the status of the flight on the lock screen or on the Dynamic Island. The watch complication is extremely basic and doesn’t update. Everything else was excellent, but my experience with a British Airways staff member named Arthur at Phoenix was unacceptable. He removed me from the front of the check-in queue, created a new line, and told me I would have to “negotiate” with other passengers to keep my place. The worst airline app, ever. Never works for basic tasks
How BA haven’t fixed this after years of the same issues. You log in “error”. You try booking a flight “error”. Log out, log back in, delete, redownload; only temporarily fixes the issue. BA need to invest in making the app and the website work. The amount of times myself and others book via another site as we just give up attributes to lost revenue for BA which they clearly haven’t prioritized. Get proper people in who can design an app and not just take you to a webpage, and make it work. All other major airlines have working apps bar BA.

On my first flights with British Airways via the partner American Airlines. Booked our flights over 6 months ago and upgraded our seats to premium economy. It was the worst of times
British Airways really went out of their way to help us. My passport expires in two months and Spain requires you travel 90 day window before expiration. Diego Acevedo gave us the address where to start our journey to get an emergency passport in Denver. With his help we were able to travel out next day. Travel rebooked with a better layover than we had before. Wonderful customer service.

Check in experience is very confusing and frustrating
The check in process was absolutely dreadful. I received an email a few days ago to input required info for travel to the US, which I did. Then when checking in today, it asked me for that info (the address) again. Then, it asked for date of birth again (it had put it in before too). The Worst!
This is the worst of all the airline apps. It will not let you check in online no matter how many times you try. This has happened to us multiple times. The website won’t let us do it either. That resulted in us getting bumped off of our flight that we checked in at the ticket counter more than 2 hours before our flight. But the ticket agent would not give us seat assignments. We checked with the gate agent. He wouldn’t do it either and came back when boarding was about to start and said there weren’t enough seats for us. Frustrating
I spent hours trying to check in after my 24 hour allowance began for my flight. After trying to upsell me it took me to my check-in page but first I had to complete my personal information. Going to this page generated no information whatsoever. I tried a dozen times or more on two different phones and it just wouldn’t work. So I called customer service who claimed to check me in and even told me my seat assignment. Lo and behold, I arrived at LHR to find I wasn’t actually checked in and had no seat yet. Terrible. Worst airline app
This airline app is the worst of it’s kind - it doesn’t show any useful information and instead just constantly redirects you from the app to a website. Even on the website part it has a banner at the top that says “open BA app”. The app errors out often in changing your seat - and instead of showing you the layout of the plane you cannot even see how many seats are where. Additionally, it shows the most useless information - why do I need to know my timeline over something like incoming aircraft or stand by? The app really lives up to the reputation of having low tech standards in 2025

App doesn’t work
The app constantly forgets my trips, I have to re add it every time I open the app and the most recent issue… it wouldn’t let me log in, I reset the password and tried again and it immediately told me that my account is locked and to check the email from them. There was no email, tried logging in online and it said “technical difficulties” try again later. An app for something as important as accessing flight info and tickets should probably be able to handle basic functionality. I’ve never had an experience this awful with other airline apps.

Might as well not have an app
This app is awful, the worst airline app I’ve seen. All it does is opening a web window with their website. Why even bother making an app? There’s even the banner to download the app within their app! Everything is extremely slow, nothing is intuitive, any useful information is carefully not given. Boarding time is not indicated anywhere. Often it loads pages twice when you start. And of course no reminders or no notification when your flight starts boarding, changes gate, etc. Pretty useless.

Bag policies are deceptive
Carry-on bags were taken from everyone in Economy under the guise of the flight being full. Not only were there empty seats but the bins were entirely empty in all of the cabin. This is a deceptive and inappropriate policy that is below airline industry standard. BA should be clear with Economy passengers upfront that they are actually not allowed to bring a carry on bag on the plane and they get 1 free checked bag. I booked business class 5 months in advance. I tried to check in 24 hours in advance and the app kept erroring out. Called customer service and they said I had my seat in business class and not to worry. Got to the airport and not only did I not have seat in the class I bought, but they moved me to standby. App blocks me from any use, and I have no document issues. Horrible experience with app, customer service and the company. Everyone have an excuse why they couldn’t honor my purchases class, especially when I bought the seat 5 months prior to the flight. Never again!

For some reason they route their app traffic through their online website which makes it an absolute nightmare to navigate through. To check into a flight you open the app,get redirected to the website which then tries to get you to download the app which you originally opened. I’ve had the worst travel experience of my life flying BA and I am a frequent business flyer. We used BA for a family trip and they lost our luggage when we arrived in Rome. They wouldn’t assist and we could not get someone to answer the phone in FCO or on the BA customer service line. This app (and frankly, this entire airline) is so completely worthless that I’m shocked at its current rating. Checking in via this app is a absolute nightmare. It does not work the way it should, and more likely than not you will get stuck on a loading screen and unable to retrieve your boarding passes. I would say you’re better off checking in on a laptop, but their website is just as atrocious. You may as well just check in with someone at the airport. There are dozens of other problems with this app that render it a complete waste of time, but it’s really not worth the effort to type out.

I bought the ticket thru American Airlines for a trip from Orlando to island of Mallorca, Spain. It included British airways and Iberia.
