After 26 Years, I Finally See Progress
As a veteran who has been dealing with the VA system for 26 years, I can honestly say that I am finally seeing positive changes. The new app is easy to use and makes it much simpler to access information, track claims, and submit travel reimbursement requests.
The VA is not perfect, and there is still room for improvement, but I have seen a noticeable difference in how veterans are treated and how services are being delivered. For the first time in a long time, I feel like the VA is moving in the right direction. Thank you to everyone working to make things better for veterans.

Outstanding Support
I’ve never received anything other than outstanding support from the VA in the years I’ve been coming into any facility, whether Primary Care or Specialty Care.
I appreciate the job of the physicians, nurses, lab technicians and support staff for all the tremendous work they do. In addition, the pharmacy is absolutely top notch in providing exceptional mail delivery services and in a timely manner.

Surprisingly Great
As a veteran that has been seen by the VA for nearly 15 years, the tech side has progressively gotten better. They have been regularly updating and fixing this app. It has a ways to go to mimic the website, but new features and information is added consistently. Hope to see them continue to make it better.

Sick and tired of no one listening
I have used the VA going on 11 years now. I have tried to get in to see my primary care but there is only 1 provider for Springfield Il. It takes 2-3 weeks to get an appointment. In the mean time I have to use urgent care locally and that is no better than a band aid at best. I am being rated for a condition that is worsening and I can’t see why I cannot see a VA provider to get a simple referral or use a phone to get a referral for something I am being rated on. It’s 3 weeks for the VA provider appointment ent, another month to get a care in the community appointment. Then there are dia

Downloading Reports
it’s very difficult to like this app especially when you’re sitting a doctors office who’s supposed to have results of a test that was done prior to getting there and Community Care never sent the results or sent them in a way that the doctor couldn’t find them. So you try and look them up on the VA app and you can’t download them because your app doesn’t work that way, even though it says the downloads are going to your apps download file location so in that regards this app is a waste of my time and the doctors time so it needs to be fixed.

My needs are taken care at anBA clinic or hospital. Some times a request appointments for treatment outside of VA and they always put their best foot forward to provide me with the request I’ve made. Battle Creek Michigan VA Review
The Battle Creek VA team has been my greatest ally in recovery. This review is an attempt to say thank you. Though I’m with the VA for a physical injury primarily, they’re also taking care of the psychological needs of this Veteran. Every physical injury has a psychological component to it, though the psychological wound may not be immediately apparent to the casual observer. Dissatisfied Veteran
My husband is a 100% disabled Vietnam veteran. He has always had an exceptionally health care through Grand Junction VA and the Black Hills Health Care system.
Then we moved closer to our children which put us in the Fayetteville/Ft Smith VA system - terrible, terrible, dissatisfactory service. Prescriptions have been lost when the system upgrades. We used 2 different physicians trying to fine one who cares, we’re still looking. Video links not showing up
I love the VA app, but I have video appointments with my caregivers and I’m supposed to get a link 45 minutes before the appointment time. This happens about 90% of the time, but 10% of the time I don’t get a link. I’m not sure if it’s because the provider puts it in the computer wrong or there’s just a glitch. But it would be nice if the powers that we could fix this so that. Not late for my appointments trying to get online.

This site is not user friendly, the lack of a mostly for those that are in need to get the assistance we need is deplorable at best. I receive snarky responses from people that “work” at the VA whenever there is a system down and need assistance like we are bothering them for our entitlements. This whole VA system is broken. 3 weeks now I have been asking for help for my travel reimbursement and all I get is. “That’s why I sent you the form” no instructions no help to fix the issue just a buck passed to manually submit a form that should be working on the site. VA PROCEDURES. I think it is ridiculous to have we Veterans check in online and check-in again with the Clerk at your
appointment . There should be a way to combine them and do only one or the other, but not both!
If you check-in online more than likely you are probably already at your appointment check-in area or in the VA Hospital Building at the very least. Stop making the Veteran do double the work!

It would be nice to be able to download my vaccination information to a .CSV , .PDF , file format for my personal records. The information is mine, about me, and therefore I should have access. Same goes for letters, Rx, messages. I think it’s my data and I should have the right to use it as I see fit. Other apps allow you to download your information. For instance, MyHealthyVet or whatever the name is called.
Then the pharmacy refill section. It would be nice to sort active or inactive prescriptions. Usually I am looking to refill active prescriptions and not see an entire list of inactive

As a tech savvy Veteran I LOVE the app. Every update does not disappoint. My only concern are those Vets out there that don’t have the ability of help using app or what not. There has to be a fallback for the aging population of Vets. You have to consider low vision to name one. Maybe consider giving classes to the ill older vets teaching them how to use the applications or brighter/contrasted colors without changing the logo and features too much!

This is a great app that is super convenient. But it can be hard to manage my appointments because it doesn’t show who it’s with, the name of the clinic or the purpose of the appointment.

The new update makes the app harder to use for the visually impaired because for instance in the request refill section the request button is so large that it covers the entire page making it almost impossible to view the medications list of course this is because of my settings in my iPhone but without my phone settings being large type I cannot see text otherwise

Secure Messaging Features Are Outdated and Frustrating – Needs Urgent Overhaul
It’s frustrating that taxpayer-funded development has left the VA Health and Benefits app feeling so clunky and outdated in 2026, especially for secure messaging – a feature Veterans rely on heavily.
Under Health > Messages > Start a new message:
• You’re forced to pick a “care system” or facility from a dropdown, and for me, Birmingham VA shows up even though it’s unrelated to my current care in Atlanta/Georgia. Irrelevant facilities shouldn’t appear.

I personally love the App. I recommend it to other veterans. However a lot of veteran population find the ID me process difficult. Population such as our Older veteran that are not computer savvy on their Mobil device will not use it. The other population that treat are veterans with TBI they all get frustrated with the process and won’t use it. Feature Request: please enable users to Reschedule their appointments in the app.
Issue: if a user cannot make an appointment, they need to reschedule it. However, the app only allows users to cancel the appointment. 20 years using the VA across multiple states and Richmond is on par with Chicago. IYKYK. I am 100% P&T wounded in action, and these guys haven’t treated me for a single thing in three years. Since I received my last bill for acupuncture and noticed that the VA did not pay and only offered the practitioner 1/3 of the going rate I am a little more than upset.
I spent 4 months in PT through VACC and got very little improvement on left shoulder movement. I have never stopped doing my exercises/ stretches daily at home. One of the PT clinicians suggested that I seek out an acupuncture specialist and found out that the VA does not have an acupuncture specialist.

The new Telephone contact system with VA providers is close to impossible to use!
I have been a VA patient since 1990. The new VA contact system, requiring everyone to use VA Health Connect, is impossible to use actually to contact your providers or VA clinics. If you dial any VA provider or clinic number that they have called you from and ask for a call back you are automatically diverted to the VA Connect operator, who knows where and is not trained to help the veteran but to prevent them from contacting the clinic or person directly.
They offer to send a msg to the team or clinic for you and profess they can not connect you or provide a number that they can answer.
