Response to reservations
My fiancé and I have been on a waitlist for the Golden Steer for several months. In that time we have each received at least six notifications regarding a table had become available. However, barely even tapping on the receive notice and they said the table had already been taken. What’s the point of letting people know there’s an open reservation if not, even 15 seconds later it’s unavailable? If people receive a notification, they should receive at least a 5 to 10 minute window to accept it. I received a notification even the other night at 1 AM in the morning. They do not check with restaurants - out of business restaurants still taking reservations
Open Table makes no effort to confirm your reservation. Multiple incidents of the restaurant having no record of reservation upon arrival. They also have lots of out of business restaurants still listed on the app and you can still make reservations only to arrive to a boarded up business. There is no way to actually contact them. They do not stand behind their bookings and you the customer will be the one out of luck when the restaurant turns you away or is closed. Chase exclusive tables has no map option
The Chase Sapphire Reserve Exclusive Tables program is useful in concept, but the OpenTable app makes it unnecessarily difficult to use because there does not appear to be a way to view participating restaurants on a map. That is a significant usability issue. The benefit is location-dependent: customers need to know which participating restaurants are close enough to visit so they can actually use the credit, make a reservation, and likely spend more than the credit amount. We ordered the following to get a broad taste of what they had to offer. The shrimp cocktail was a 0 out of 5. Needs vast improvement. Acme frozen jump shrimp is a 4/5 compared to this. We have used OpenTable to book almost all of our favorite restaurants, both where we live, and when we travel. OpenTable allows us to search by time and date and gives us all of the seating options that are possible. Getting out of hand
Seems to me that convenience is coming at too high a price. Whilst it is convenient to be able to book a table without getting out of bed, but the hoops one has to go through are becoming increasingly arduous, invasive, and frankly impersonal. I am new to this area, and Open Table has been a great way to find dining spots. They even will list info on many restaurants that do not use Open Table for reservations. OpenTable is great for looking for restaurants in the area and finding ideas, but they don’t verify/authenticate their information. I’ve only made two reservations with them, and one the first restaurant we showed up early to and had to wait past the reservation time. The second restaurant wasn’t even there. Horrible customer service, will not let you redeem points, and your points expire secretly!
Yesterday, I spent $312 at a restaurant with an OpenTable reservation that the restaurant didn’t check me in. When I tried to refute the charge, OpenTable removed the option. Extremely frustrating and thankfully, the restaurant credited me subsequently. I have reserved 700 times with OpenTable. When on the website yesterday trying to rectify the other issue, I learned they are expiring my well-deserved points including 700 on 3/31. When trying to redeem, they said I had none of my unexpired 13, 750 points available to redeem. OpenTable is horrible and they doesn’t deserve our business!

I have been using OpenTable for a while, and I love the convenience of booking reservations at my favorite restaurants, especially since I can earn Dining Rewards along the way. It is a great incentive to keep coming back. However, I have noticed that the ability to collect rewards has been turned off a couple of times, which feels a bit shady. This is especially frustrating when I specifically choose restaurants that participate in the program. If rewards are advertised as a benefit, they should be honored consistently. Hats off to Sergio
My friends and I did not go out to dinner tonight - we had a total dining experience! Everything we had to eat was exceptional and all four of us had different iterations of the prime rib. Over the top and the tableside carving simply added to the overall wonderful experience. But the icing on the cake was our server, Sergio. He was fun and funny and quick witted and simply wonderful. We were a fun group of four who might have been considered just a little annoying but Sergio had no problem keeping up with us! So far, this was my personal best dining experience in Vegas. Missed out on coveted booking spot
While I do find this app very helpful to explore new dining spots and make reservations easy, I encountered a ruthless flaw in the app this morning. I have been on a ”notify me” waitlist for WEEKS to score a cancellation opening at a highly coveted location that is booked months in advance. The few notifications I got, even though I was able to run to the app to snag it, was gone within the 40 seconds I tried to grab the spot. Missing info, no human to reach
I’ve been using the app for 7 years and never cashed in on any points. They either expire, which I don’t think should ever even happen…or seem out of reach for anything good. I still use it a lot for the convenience of making a reservation. I just went on and all of my reservations are gone! Including one I made that it’s coming up in 2 weeks…GONE. There’s oddly only 2 old reservations showing from 2019 (I have made well over 50–100, including at least 3 in the past month. So all my points are gone too. We ate at Ghee Sat night and had a terrible experience. Almost immediately after ordering our appetizers and drinks, our appetizers came out within minutes, before our drinks.
