Build 887451369v11.81.02026-06-30 20:06:45
For iOS 26 users, we've added support for Apple’s Liquid Glass. This latest update keeps the focus on the story, giving more space on the screen to text, photos and videos.
- Story actions like sharing, saving, listening and commenting have moved. On any article, scroll up or tap the menu in the top-right corner to see all available actions.
- Links to relevant coverage are now tucked into a dropdown at the top of each article that sticks as you scroll, so it's easy to navigate between articles in a major storyline.
- The audio player has a refreshed design with all the same functionality. Listen as you browse, pause with a single tap, or open the expanded player from the bar for more controls.

Rich resource in shrinking global resources for democracy and citizens
Franklin famously replied to the woman who asked what sort of government had the men emerging from the convention hall had established, “A democracy, madam, if you can keep it.” His comment was based on his belief, shared with Jefferson and others, that a free press was a necessary condition for informed voting. Subscribers for 40 years!
So so so grateful for the NYT all these years. We have had printed delivery everywhere we have lived, even in Hong Kong. Finally retired to small semi-rural community with no delivery, so we are now grateful for online subscription. We are also loving the online interactive content. Wow. And The Daily is my favorite podcast!! NYT is the best source of news. When a story breaks we just wait to read about it in the NYT, where we know we will have the full story with fully vetted details and maps and graphics where applicable. So dependable. Trump’s son’s wedding
No matter what Trump did about his son’s wedding, Jimmy Kimmel would criticize him. I am not standing up for what Trump did or didn’t do but what ever he does the Democrats find fault with it. If he had gone to the wedding, Kimmel would have said, “what is Trump thinking, there is a war going on that he started illegally”. I am sick of the politicians and politics in this country. How about not being a democrat or a republican, just an American. Maybe we all need to remember how we felt the day the towers fell. I am really disappointed with the people in this country. Everything I need about what’s going on
Only yesterday, I found myself having a surge of special regard for the Times. It happened when I saw a stomach-turning email ad for the New York Sun. The ad was about what a terrible newspaper the Times is. The Sun is transparently serving as a hit man for Trump and his disgusting friends. The target for the Sun’s hit: the Times. But of course. The Times tells the truth, gives the facts, and yet is open to points of view that lean towards if not sharing

The Antisemitic New York Times
It is hard to imagine that the New York Times, which for so many years was controlled and managed by a Jewish family, could have become so antisemitic. Not technically antisemitic, but so gratuitously anti-Israel, but in today’s world, there has become little difference between the two. Is it because the Times’s controlling family is German-Jewish, a subset of Jewett that has historically considered itself superior to other Jews? Anyway, although there is plenty to criticize Israel about, especially on events in the e West Bank (and I fully share in condemning Israeli actions there!) was it ne

Overall great app! Want to specifically focus my review on the listen tab! Frankly, it's terrible. I'm not exactly sure how or why but it is often times unresponsive, unintuitive and limited in the scope and scale of what you can view and chose to listen to.
When actually listening, podcasts in a series are not always grouped together on the interface in ways that would make it easier to find them or listen to them in succession. Poor audio options
NYT purchased Audm and ran it as the NYT audio app, which was a great platform with human narrated stories and articles from many sources. It shut down the audio app and now the nyt app is worse than nothing from an audio standpoint. It does not even have narrated articles on its audio section, and the narrated articles that do exist are AI voices. Perhaps the owners of the voices used to train those bots feel similarly to nyt writers who sued ai companies for the use of their text. Regardless, the quality is poor.
The practice of buying a competing news app and then shutting it down is antic

Great App, more audio capacity wanted
Love this app and the Times. It’s clear and is a good alternative to the actual paper though I still prefer the paper!
Because it’s easier to get an overview of everything in it than it is on the app. I would love it if there were a way to see the actual pages as if it were the newspaper to give me that overarching all encompassing view of the news that allows for a quick scan of the day so that if time is short I can prioritize my reading. That being said, I prefer finding old articles electronically to leafing through old papers. I love the audio option, only wish it covered every article

As a NYer the TIMES was always there. When I lived in other parts of the country I DISCOVERED why the TIMES is so special. I love that I can read online anywhere in the world now. Its journalism has always been excellent and I trust it along with API to get the facts correct. When they make a mistake they print it the next day. Podcasts are excellent. It helps you understand the world around you. I love that TRUMP hates it, even though he is a NYer that probably grew up with it delivered to his house daily. The app seems to have no understanding of my personal preferences and listening to audio is hard
It’s just hard to imagine how The New York Times can spend so much time and energy, creating great content and put a little effort into making a decent app. The app does not seem to have any sense of my personal preferences and no way curates the reading experience to provide me content. I’m interested in. Even more frustrating is that I really would like to just select a story and then listen to it. I cannot imagine why but not every story can be listened to. Remember Steve Jobs' summation when he unveiled the first iPhone? "It just works." Kind of an overstated understatement. I feel the same way about the NYT news app, and their whole suite of apps. This app is the one I use the most and I love it. It's a triumph of interface design and user experience. It presents an amazing amount of content on a single page, all intuitively structured and easy to navigate. App builders always say they want product functionality to be "robust." NYT goes beyond. Only negative I can think of, and this is a really big one: can youse guys please allow for enlarging the type on the screen? I read you on my phone and sometimes can barely make out the writing, particularly in the notation under illustrations and photographs. It shouldn’t be difficult to do this. Opportunities for Improvement
Let me start with this: I love the New York Times. It is my go to news app. However, that doesn’t mean there isn’t room for improvement. One feature that I wish the New York Times app would adopt is a feature the Washington Post already has: a repository of all the push notifications they have sent you. When I receive over a dozen breaking news push notifications in a single day, it can be extremely frustrating and difficult to keep up with them all. My biggest complaint, however, is with the ads. As a long term subscriber, I’m gobsmacked by the NYT’s editorial decision (explicit?) to ignore the mounting frustration everyday Americans have with this administration’s policy— and especially with the deployment of ICE in our communities, outfitted in military style garb including face-coverings that almost guarantee hidden identification and implied impunity for lawless behavior. Americans across the country — in cities, suburbs, and towns— are showing up to protest in record numbers. I see these peaceful protests in my own city, and drone footage on social media of similar protests else

Why? Because when I click into the app, it sends me to a user page on the Internet and then it asks me to click on a button to go into the app. Then when I go into the app, this story I was originally trying to read doesn’t load. In fact, it may have to go through anywhere between two and five redirects. Then I have to go back to the home page and search through all the stories until I find the one I was originally reading. The “live updates” function of the articles are fine, but listening isn’t even offered for those — assuming because it’s reported throughout the day so the content is fragmented. I guess I got spoiled because Apple News does that and I love that feature. I have been a subscriber by paper and then online for years. The price has continually gone up during that time. I have held on. It’s too important to me. Recently they removed the mini crossword and placed it behind the pay wall. This was a terrible idea. Whatever math they ran that informed them that the disappointment of so many readers over this loss was worth the small number that would now pay for access to such a small game failed to take into account the loyalty many of us have shown in our support of digital access during the tumultuous years of the collapse of print papers. Additionally, it is far more cumbersome sharing articles from the New York Times app than it is from a browser, because the app forces you to open each article individually to access the share button. If you want to send five articles to a read-it-later app, this gets extremely tedious.
