Make it possible to add articles to audio playlists!
Please make it possible to include articles read by an automated voice to the audio playlist. This feature was available in the Audio App and I truly enjoyed curating my own playlists of 10+ articles to listen to as a playlist while doing other things. The NYT’s own curated playlists are a very strange mix of all things audio. I don’t know who enjoys a playlist of a long form horrific true crime article merging into Modern Love, Ross Douthat and Wire Cutter. Don’t get me wrong these are all excellent shows and content but the mix is giving me whiplash!

Whoever designed the latest app update
Can only be motivated by a deep loathing of NYT’s readers and the desire to pretend them from finding the articles they want. Cramming all of the sections into a minuscule ribbon across the top boggles the mind, as does removing the ability to break sections out into subsections.

Good looking app and great legibility. But please make the app remember what article I’m reading, and where in it. Now when I leave the app to do something else and come back, I end up on the start page and then have to find my way back to where I was. This makes it worse than just reading articles through Safari. Please fix!

These Guys Can’t Write an App
A news app shouldn’t crash, but this one does. A lot. Type ‘New York times’ into search and it doesn’t find the app. These guys don’t know about metadata! If you think you are getting the New York Times, think again. There is certainly not the sense of ‘wow, so much news, how am i going to read even a tenth of it?` that I get with the print version. It’s a tiny subset. You’ll be finished in a few minutes. It’s instantly disappointing. I kept it for a couple months, but find myself spending more time on the free alternatives.
