This is our second Tractive tracker we have bought. We have had it since its first model. This tracker has been a life saver. We travel a little and twice our little dog has slipped out of what we thought was a secure space and gotten away in a location far from home. We were able to find her within minutes. I love this tracker. I technically have a dog one on my cat. He loves being outside wandering the neighborhood keeping the small animal population low. He will easily do 20-30 miles a week in the summer time here in WNY.

This device is so great!! I bought Tractive for peace of mind and to track sleep and activity! My husband and I live on a lot of land and this is perfect in case he gets out and we know exactly where he is! We went on an out of state trip and had to board our GSD. I love Tractive so much! I can’t imagine life without it now! My Maine Coon cat, Derby, was so very easy to train to it! A must have if you have a pet
Had this GPS tracker for about a week, and it already proved its worth!
Came home last night to find my blind poodle had somehow escaped our fenced backyard after going out the doggie door. She had wandered into a large wooded, undeveloped area down the road. It was completely dark, and she was scared and hiding.
Thanks to the tracker, we were able to locate her exact spot and find her within 30 minutes of getting home.
If you’ve got a little “Houdini” on your hands, I highly recommend getting one. This gave us peace of mind when we needed it most.

I have a friend that lost their dog after a roll over car accident. They had an AirTag on but the battery had died. Lucy still hasn’t been found. That prompted me to invest in Tractive for my pups. I’m an engineer. I fully understand the physical limitations of batteries so I’m not going to complain about the large size of the tracker, low refresh frequency without live tracking or a fact that I need to charge it every other day even in constant power save mode. Best idea ever
We have 2 Anatolian/Pyrenees that love to escape the yard to go on adventures. They used to escape and it would take hours to find them and one time it was overnight. We have tried making the fence taller, sport fence, reward for good behavior. Nothing worked. We live near a busy highway and fear them getting hit. Since getting Tractive, we are notified WHEN they escape and then we can track them making finding them and catching them generally a less than 10 minute affair. Best use of money for my dogs ever. Customer service has been amazing. The accuracy of the tracker is perfect. My dog ran off on my parents while they were up at their cabin in Arizona. I was in Chicago at the time. They called me and I immediately looked on the tracker and they were able to get her back in the dark at nighttime due to me turning on the light and beeping sound on her collar! A runner and her sister
I have two rescue Australian Shepherd mixes who are sisters. They are almost 5 years old and I’ve had them since they were one. One of the sisters is a runner. The other one is a follower. If it weren’t for Tractive i’d probably not have either dog today. I have a fenced yard and I’m very cautious, but in spite of that where there is a will, there is a way and my dogs have escaped multiple times. Suggested update for exercise metrics
We love what y’all do! And we’d like to ask for one thing for the next update.
Please consider adding a feature that allows for the “walk” recorder to automatically record walking or running without having to manually start a walk recording session. 1. Being able to zoom in/get exact timeframes for sleep phases. Only having 12 am, noon, and 11:59 pm as a gauge for looking at my dog’s sleep isn’t as helpful as I’d like. I wish I could maybe tap on a sleep phase block and see an exact timeframe.

I’ve had my Tractive for my boy going on 3 years now. I live in the mountains of PA and have a ton of property. Now I can just let him roam the property and pinpoint exactly where he is. I bought this tracker because my cat Mackey can’t stay in the house. I found him as an adult unneutered male, and even though he is neutered, he will still fight with my other cats. I am a new-ish customer that Tractive acquired from the merge with Whistle. Overall, Tractive has the functions that are most vital: gps tracking, virtual fences, basic health data. However, I’m not sure why you can fast-access the light toggle from the homescreen, but not the „sound“ feature, which would be useful to me since I utilize that feature as a recall sound.
Additionally, I’m honestly very surprised that Tractive hasn’t even begun including some of the features that Whistle used to offer, such as insight into licking and scratching behavior.

Great device, with limitations
After two weeks of use, am happy with the purchase of this Tractive Smart Cat tracker. Seems to work well. Has significant limitations:
Very limited battery life, requiring recharging every second day with our cat’s fairly active wanderings.
Also, software does does allow one to delete any past tracks. This presents problems if you are silly enough to do as we did; drive with the tracker to test it, or perhaps drive to the vets office, etc. The problem with these ‘extended’ trips is that the software then adjusts the ‘home’ range boundaries of your pets to incorporate these extended trips.

Let’s face it, pet people go hard.
As a happily childless millennial, I love obsessing over my dog. I feel safer leaving her with my dog sitter because I can monitor for separation anxiety. I feel at ease knowing her location at all times. The light is fun when she goes romping around in the yard at night. The list of benefits goes on and on, but let’s consider the big picture.
Yes, the subscription felt a bit pricey to me, but I figured she was worth it. I had been considering Pet Insurance at that time anyway, and this is quite cheaper and guaranteed to actually be useful.

Terrible gps accuracy
Let my cat out with the tracker turn on 4 days ago. I made sure to turn the tracker on. As the day went on I noticed the app showed him to be behind my house in my car port. So went out there and stood exactly where the app said he was and he wasn’t anywhere near the location displayed by the gps. Not Whistle
Setting up a fence has a min diameter of 350ft and forces you to start in the middle of the ocean and drag it over to your location. The feature for snapping to my location is broken.
Whistle let me have MUCH smaller fences. When my dog escaped into the neighbors backyard I was alerted. With this I would not have gotten alerted.
I regret paying the $120 yearly subscription that was forced on me as a Whistle customer. I assumed this would be some kind of upgrade over 5 year old Whistle, but it feels like a downgraded version of their app with a more obnoxious device.

Generally speaking this app and their services are pretty reliable and I’ve come to depend on it quite a bit. It’s very useful for keeping track of my pets and the GPS is fairly consistent. Unfortunately, the devices themselves do not last their full lifespan… I’ve had to replace several of them within a year of use even though the warranty lasts two years. While they do have a warranty, getting them to actually replace the device is quite a task. Tractive bought out whistle, a superior product. I was forced into this Tractive by Whistle. I also happen to own a track advice that is on my cat with sincere regrets. I have had significant and continuous problems with my attractive, despite three different devices. These include connection to my home Wi-Fi, connection to the cellular network, and battery life. My home Wi-Fi is brand new high-speed fiber optic. Most significant, Tractive, unless there has been a change recently, does not offer phone support. It is only by email. Love this tracker, it’s more reliable for gps than whistle. I was a whistle user for 10+ years. However it is missing some of the features that I loved about whistle (drinking, eating, scratching, licking, 24/7 vet chat) so I hope those things are coming. These are really helpful when you think your dog may be having symptoms but are unsure if you’re just delusional and paranoid or if there is actually something wrong.

When I first got this app, I really loved it. I even recommended it to anyone who has pets. But over the years the love for it has gone down. It’s a bit pricey, but my cat safety is worth it. Or at least sorry I thought but there are many issues and glitches that are going on. One of my main issues is the battery life. I will charge it to 100% and within 20–25 minutes I’ll be at 84–87%.
