I miss BBVA
PNC purchased BBVA and I have been unhappy ever since. The first experience as they rolled in was letters telling me what I needed to do(NO!) next they took away my LIFE TIME FREE CHECKS next they changed my account numbers I have had since I 13 years old and my checks started at #100. My interest rate dropped significantly in my savings account that was earning a decent amount per month to just pocket change per month with no notification and a guy from my local branch called me about a new product they have which would earn him a commission so I told him about the interest rate drop and it w

Thank god the app finally got updated.
I've been banking with PNC now for 16 years. I had the virtual wallet app first, I switched to the regular mobile app some years ago. All my other credit card apps blew pnc out of the water. I hated the old app so much because everything was hidden between a bunch of BS in other pages. Im still getting used to the new app but im happy its staying mostly similar and fairly easy to find things. I was pretty hesitant about it when I saw all the blue as I thought it would be like the website but this honestly a nice improvement that's way to long overdue.

PNC has been the best bank I’ve ever been with in 50 years — and I don’t say that lightly. They are consistent, respectful, literal when you need literal, patient when you need patient, and they treat you like a human being, not a number.
What makes PNC stand out is simple:
They acknowledge you. They sit with you. They talk to you. They listen.
They don’t look at you funny if you explain things in detail. They don

You talk to a rep that doesn’t know what they’re doing and doesn’t realize that the test deposits don’t come out of your PNC bank account, they actually come out of pnc’s verification account thing. Frustrated, you hang up and call the number again, listed in the popup in the mobile app, “we are unable to verify that you own ___account__.” “We can help se

Bad overall
This is the glitchiest app ever. Seems like it would be some small bank instead of PNC, my small local bank app is 1000x better. On my old phone I literally had to wait 5 minutes for it to load, I would have to keep tapping my phone so it didn’t time out. Also can I say how messed up it is that it gives messages like “sorry external transfer isn’t available now” - like what???? It’s my money but you won’t let me take it out?! Also I had 50k+ in the bank at all times but they wouldn’t let me transfer more than a few thousand ever at one time? They finally corrected whatever that was thankfully,

Very basic, glitchy, and has security issues
Wow! This is one of the worst banking apps that I’ve ever seen. Here’s a tip about password security. You don’t make passwords more secure by arbitrarily limiting the number of characters and forcing people to use alpha-numeric characters only. I may end up refinancing my loan with a different company just because of that. This is an obviously greenhorn-built security setup and app. That said, the rest of the app is pretty featureless. I was expecting to login so that I could set up automatic payments for my loan, but to my surprise, there is only a manual payment capability and worse, you can

App used to be better
There have been some updates and features have been removed. For example: in-app transfers to outside accounts and bill pay (paper checks written by the app and mailed) used to show as “pending” and would show as a separate balance. These no longer show until cleared by third party bank. Since PNC no longer sends a paper register with checks (as many people don’t know how to balance a checkbook or even pay by check), there is no where in the app to notate outstanding checks or payments. This makes it very difficult for 1: keeping track of those payments and checks, and 2: budgeting. I’ve been

Trouble with Zelle
When I called PNC due to a Zelle issue, the customer service person asked for my security information which I was happy to provide. After passing all the questions, he continued by asking me for my last four account debits which I gave him. But then, he started lecturing me about why I should be careful with Zelle and asked if I trust the person I was sending money to via Zelle to which I answered yes, I’ve known this person for a long time. He suggested I shouldn’t use Zelle to pay for services. He also lectured me on my account login security and how I shouldn’t share my login information wi

It gets the job done. I’m not sure how this application has such a high rating. I have considered leaving PNC solely because of my experience with the app. It’s very quirky. If you use a password manager (ie keychain or 1Password) the app does not allow you to stay within the app to grab your credentials - you have to go outside of the app, copy the password from your manager, and go back into the app. I don’t see any support for faceid. The two-factor authentication is very slow and waiting for a token to be sent via text is not instant. Today, as I was Zelle-ing, the app kept prompting me to

Pin nightmares
PNC requires at least 3 different pins/passwords. If you have business and checking you’ll have at least 4-6 PIN numbers. If you try to pay someone new using Zelle it will give you one chance to enter a pin and then lock you out. If you call the number on the lockout screen it’ll route you to personal checking even if you’re logged into your business account. Even if you call the business banking number directly it’ll route you to personal checking so you’re going to validate with 4 digit texted codes etc at least twice before you’ll talk to anyone. Advanced & Amazing App!
The mobile app is super tech advanced, convenient, easy to use and navigate through as well. It’s like having a mini-branch on my device!
Each update seems to just get better in my opinion. I love PNC! They are a well-advanced bank when it comes to technology, and they gave me a second chance at banking with their foundation checking account. As far as I am concerned this is the BEST bank I have ever dealt with to be honest! Great mobile app, friendly customer care, and I LOVE their huge branch footprint which is also really convenient and great to see and have. I highly recommend PNC Bank!!!

Lacking a Modern Design and Security Standards
PNC’s mobile app does do everything I need it to do, although the design language really screams early 2010’s to me. The transitions are unnecessary and the design is just dated. I know PNC is a bank and not a marketing company, but this app is overdue for a visual refresh. I just want to deposit a check, not take a nostalgic trip back to 2010. Additionally, the only two-step verification method is using a phone number, which is insecure and embarrassing for a financial institution that’s the 4th largest in the country afaik. The app is fine, but the staff at PNC are not detail oriented, don’t care about doing good work, and the policies and account management processes are back in the Stone Age. Leadership needs to invest in more modernization (including behind the scenes) and your staff needs to be measured for customer satisfaction. Worst banking app I have
I don’t know why I just haven’t closed my account with PNC. I’ve been with them almost 2 years due to a job I had that offered a type of promo if I were to sign up for an account & get direct deposit.
They have crazy overdraft fees, I recently didn’t move money around fast enough & was not even over a dollar, literally was some change, & still got the fee. Which that is more on the bank & not the app. So things I don’t like about the app, as I said, I have several accounts with different banks & credit unions. The absolute WORST experience banking app!
This app works for one thing, and that’s to just drive you crazy. I have a car loan with PNC and this app makes making a payment the biggest hassle. It doesn’t accept anything I do but doesn’t tell me until my payment is almost late. It doesn’t show “scheduled payments” even though there is a specific section for that. It just doesn’t work and hasn’t for months. In order to make a payment, I have to pull out my laptop and log onto the actual website and jump through the hoops there to get it scheduled. —and even then you’re left to wonder if it’s going to work or not. Excellent Security Measures
I enjoy using the PNC banking app because of the security measures in place. I am handling my Father‘s estate and have to send payments to various businesses, people as well as paying myself back for estate expenses. PNC has additional security measures that ask additional questions or include additional steps as a “checks and balances” to your banking needs. This is especially true when utilizing Zelle or even logging into the account. PNC will ask you to reset or even go in to a bank if it feels something may not be right. Pros:

Refusal to integrate with Plaid
So ridiculous that PNC’s refusal to work with Plaid (a company that allows banks to connect to third party apps) has continued for this long. PNC’s budgeting option in the app is absolute garbage, and drove me to pay for a third party monthly budgeting app (RocketMoney) to help manage my finances. After it working subpar with the app (PNC constantly delaying transaction notifications, the unusually long amount of time it takes for ‘pending’ transactions to process, etc.), it has now effectively ‘killed’ the relationship and access from third party apps. PNC needs to take a lesson from Chase Bank on their app on how an app for a bank works.
