Can’t view what’s happening in front my house until 30 sec to a minute of it being recorded. By the time I’m actually able to view the footage after movement, the person has left already or the car has driven off. I initially bought this camera for my cars but if someone was doing something next to my cars they would be long gone before I get to actually view the Live view . Mostly works but needs fixes
App is easy to navigate. Setup is easy. Problems though are the privacy zones or non active zones don’t work as they should. I have areas where I’ve blocked off the neighbors yard above the fence and it still triggers. No shadows, reflections, etc but it still sees the movement. Also it’d be nice to be able to permanently mute notifications but still record with motion. I don’t want just a temporary mute, I have cameras I want to see what they captured from movement when I check the app, but also don’t want to lose motion detection by permanently silencing the notifications. Listen: I know you’re probably, as a company, champing at the bit for the robot overlords to take over. However the banner that’s big, red, and seemingly invincible should go away after some time. I would love to give these a higher rating because overall, they seem like a decent low/cost product; especially considering a subscription is not necessary. I will receive notifications of motion being detected, so I click on the notification to view the camera. The camera view either does not load, or takes far too long. So I will then go to the “recorded” section, only for it to not have actually recorded anything. I don’t know where to even start. I have 3 cameras total. 1 outside camera on my bottom porch, 1 indoor camera outside on my top porch and 1 indoor camera in my living room. I got my system about 3 years ago. The system does pretty good as for what it offers. Ability to see live feed is nice. I wish there were a call button for my daughter to be able to reach me thru the camera system. Also, The delay between recordings times is annoying. I bought the set of five about three months ago and I’m less than happy with these cameras. Especially for the money spent on them. I can’t tell you the amount of times we’ve had people on our property and the cameras that should be catching things, aren’t. This app is absolutely horrible. If you want to frustrate yourself then try and do very simple task on this app. For some reason, my doorbell camera is constantly going off-line. And then when I try to bring it back online, there are no helpful troubleshooting steps. The thing has a mind of its own and just functions whenever it feels like it. Activity zone function doesn’t work
Graying out the areas where you do not want your camera to sense motion is useless, doesn’t work. Tried over and over with my 5 various cameras and it simply does not work. Blink also has “smart detection” in the motion settings which works mostly well when you just tick off the box for ‘person’. But if you tick off ‘person’ and ‘motion’ (and NOT vehicles) you will get animals and people (great) but you will also get vehicles despite also graying out the zones near roads (not great). A few hiccups but a good system overall.
Let me start with the fact that I have no experience with other systems so a comparison is difficult. It works ok once you have figured out what configuration you want, especially on the doorbell, to reduce false activations from objects moving in the distance or even reflections from the sun. It does an adequate job recording however it is quite slow in allowing you to go live or confer with someone at the door. It does not like VPNs(ridiculous in today’s world). I need to use a server from half way around the world from the States for the quickest possible response. It still lags behind.

So here I am, away from my home country, and I get a bunch of notification on my Blank cameras. I call them Blank cameras because half the time you never see what triggered them. The app used to be great. I could look at each individual camera and immediately tell if the motion sensor was on our off and disable it by simply clicking. Now they moved all of that behind a 3 dote more menu so not only can you not see it at and change it at a glance but you have to click in the menu and then click again. Doesn’t make any sense. For this camera to be the sister camera to the Ring it’s horrible. I reside in a 3 family second floor about 1400 sq ft. I have the doorbell and 4th gen outdoor camera with the module being mid range of the home with almost equal distance away from both. Problem dismissing notifications on Apple Watch
I already submitted a review asking for some ability to disable the 1-hour and 4-hour snooze notifications, because when they appear on Apple Watch, there is no way to dismiss them using Watch gestures like double tap. Bought 4 minis about a month ago and they give 30 days free subscription. Everything worked better than great until the last few days of the “free subscription “. One camera started going in and out while the others was ok but seemed to be slow. I went ahead and paid a year for the subscription thinking that maybe this was blinks way of making you commit to their plan. Blink home monitor
Not the most user-friendly but once you do figure it out it works very well. I am protected. It’s nice that I can check it anytime day or night or be alerted if I choose. If something or someone is on the premises. I can immediately go look at my cameras and I can have a nice chat, which I know would definitely surprise some people. Just because of where they might be having a little chat it would be a normal place one might think say like the front door though of course the front and side doors have that option. Blink please add that feature
It would be great if the Blink app could use phone location to automatically manage camera settings. For example, when I’m at home, I’d like the indoor cameras like the one in the living room to stop recording for privacy and to avoid constant motion alerts while I’m moving around. Then, once I leave the area based on my phone’s location, the cameras should turn back on and continue sending motion alerts — so I can know if someone enters my apartment while I’m away. I’ve had Blink for home cameras on the outside of my home now for 3 years. In that time these are the things I’ve noticed that have led me to start looking at other options. 1) slow response time of cameras: there is a very obvious delay with when someone sets off the camera to record to when I get the notification on my phone. So at times, by the time I go to the door, or window, the thing that set off the camera is already gone. 2) app notification link is not good: when I get a motion detected notification, I will click the pop up banner notification on my iPhone. Great, But needs permissions settings.
I love the simplicity of the Blink cameras as well as the app. I think they work exceptionally well. My only issue is that I’d like if there were some “permissions” settings for anyone that has access to the Blink app that isn’t the primary account holder. It would be nice to limit someone’s access as far as being able to delete videos, arming the cameras, and other things like that. Yes, you can just remove people from the app or change the password. But adding a permissions setting for the main account holder to control what other family members can and cannot do would be greatly appreciat

Please bring back ability to mute as the default
Apparently the ability to mute as default has been gone for a while but I only just updated my app as I was forced to. The audio isn’t great, so when I click to view a video the sound is automatically on loud and a huge roaring comes out of my phone. Previously you’d have to tap to unmute. I much prefer having mute be the default option as I only sometimes need sound. I don’t use it as much because it’s not very good. I got this system about 5 years ago. It was used mostly for motion alerts, which was fine, but it is HIGHLY unreliable for live views. If someone is at your doorbell or in your house, they will be gone before the camera goes live, IF IT CONNECTS AT ALL. Maintenance was recently in my apartment and out of 26 attempts to connect over 30 minutes, only 4 did, and even then for a max of 20 seconds each time. I’m considering purchasing a doorbell. I already have a camera that we use occasionally. I pulled up the app to run thru a few things and discover some serious roadblocks. 1st-I can’t log into the app when using VPN. Having to turn it off forces me to degrade my security. By logging in, your credentials should suffice to authenticate. Not acceptable. At first these were great cameras the gen 4 were fantastic with detection person and motion. After a few months it doesn’t matter if the cameras are connected well to the internet or have terrible connectivity. They just start going off over and over and over despite nothing activating them. I’ve had Ring and Wyze ecosystems prior with Ring obviously being the most expensive but also the best and most reliable experience. Wyze kept hiking prices and dropping features each year when it was time to upgrade for higher resolution and better performing cameras I chose Blink. All in with 4 cameras and a doorbell. The cameras seem great as far as hardware, design and ease of install with exception of night vision performance - Wyze edges it out there on all the cameras except the doorbell which thick the Wyze and, obviously, Ring do a far superior job. You don’t think you’d have to deal with setting up the cameras if you don’t get it in the correct spot or simply if you’re just looking through your camera and ask you to continue every 15 seconds like you lost your phone and it’s going to make the camera explode if you watch for more than 20 seconds I despise these things, but I bought them and now I’m stuck with them accidentally dropped one trying to install it on the world’s hardest mount, and it shattered the entire thing and it landed in dirt. VERY glitchy while using a VPN.
If you’re using a VPN from Nord or any other service while using the blink app you’re going to have many problems. The first thing you’ll have to do before looking at any of your recorded videos is first- go into your VPN put it on pause or disconnect-then go back into the blink app and watch your video clips. At some point if you toggle too fast in the blink app, or close out of the VPN and go immediately into the blink app, EVERYTHING will freeze up and you’ll get an error message.
