This app has taken away a fundamental tool for monitoring networking and that is the MAC address for the device controlled by this app. You may think that it is clutter and users don’t need to see it but if you are looking on your network to verify no one has been able to hack your network this is a fundamental tool. Her comprehension of my meaning and requests is good 80% of the time, but unfortunately, I’m unable to go back to the original Alexa voice after updating my Alexa. Difficult to navigate interface that tries to heavily rely on a trash AI bot to answer all questions but it can’t. If I need to find my Echo buds battery level, the task is a failure. Absolute nightmare
There’s a website that gives free samples, and now the only option is to order through the Alexa app. This app has been an absolute nightmare, and it took me about a half hour for something that used to take maybe 30 seconds at most. ~80% of the time, the ai would show the typing bubbles as if it was going to respond and then just didn’t respond whatsoever time and time again. I’m sure this is a great app if you’re an Alexa super user who wants control of your devices and house at your fingertips wherever you are. I’m not that user. Great for my memory issues!
Due to having some neurological problems, I have developed memory issues. Alexa has been so very helpful for me in too many ways to name. I keep all my lists on the app and then just ask her when I need to refer back to them. We also utilize the sleep sounds every single night, as I am a light sleeper and I have two large dogs that like to roam the house and a husband who snores. I love my setup; all my lights in my house are automated, and I love Alexa for it. I don’t ever want to go back to having to manually turn on/off all the lights. It’s great. However, this APP is so bad. The most recent update has made the app even more difficult to navigate. I use this device for my father who is in hospice care at his memory care facility. I wasn’t extremely happy with it before the update but after it’s just become intolerable. They changed the voices where you’re stuck with all American accents. Its is much more intrusive, offering opinions, and wanting to chitchat. Glitches. Not Useful.
I’ve tried using the Alexa app with my Echo Dot off & on for years without a ton of success. Aside from being difficult to set up, unintuitive, and not especially useful, the Alexa app interferes with playing ANY music or podcast on my car stereo through my iPhone. On ANY app. The funny thing is I’ve never even USED Alexa in my car for anything. I thought my car stereo was glitching out; constant static, songs & podcasts cutting out or sounding crackly, then freezing both music/podcast play AND my phone! I couldn’t even turn off my phone to reset. It even caused my car stereo itself to freeze

Possibly the worst designed app for a great product ever
First off, it does a decent to above average job when connecting devices, that is great. However, if god forbid you move outside of your starting location you might as well delete your account; Why? Because the notification settings button doesn’t do anything, the “Alexa” chat does basically nothing, and oh boy don’t try to explain the failings of the Alexa chat to itself because it completely closes out… Talk about insecure for a model that lives off of feedback. The new Alexa is amazing!!!!!!! So easy to have a conversation with. This ai is above the rest when it comes to being a conversationalist. She must have studied years worth, probably millions of conversations, to get this good. I have tried all the major AI assistants and Copilot is among my favorites. But the new Alexa+ is in a class all its own, it really feels like having a conversation with someone who is well versed in all topics. You've done it now....
Well, thanks for removing the feedback option under privacy. Now I can't give a thumbs up or thumbs down every time something screws up, which is becoming more and more frequently all the time. In fact ever since this app updated I have needed to use the feedback option to help correct things like device is responding to me that are on the other side of 3000 square-foot house and up a staircase and behind two closed doors. Mostly good
Most of the time Alexa works great. However occasionally she chooses to ignore us or “misunderstand”. Also she went through a period of refusing to stop music playing on one of my devices. I literally had to unplug every time I wanted to stop the music. I like the shopping list option but the to do list option is often unhelpful. I would live to link my calendar but just don’t seem to find the time to get that done. Remind is a great option but doesn’t always work. Hate this app
One of the highlights of stupidity is how I try to use it for my grocery list, I add items through the echo device while at home and then when I go to Whole Foods and connect to the Whole Foods Wi-Fi, even, open the app start grocery shopping. Close my phone for just a moment. Open it back up to see what’s next on the list and the entire app refreshes, I have to click it multiple times to go to the list. It’s stupid. Very convenient, but with aggravating flaws
1) the “add item” and “>” buttons on the “compact” versions of lists don’t work anymore. They don’t do anything. I miss them. 2) when I am using my Alexa list for grocery shopping, Alexa seems to go to sleep and revert back to the home screen. Then, I have to navigate back to my shopping list. Often my signal in the grocery store is very poor, so sometimes this separates me from my list completely while I am in the grocery store. Very inconvenient. Alexa should just stay on the list that I’ve chosen until I tell Alexa, I’m done with the list. 3) Alexa app has no functionality off-line at all.

Like Alexa, hate the app
Alexa is great, it works fine and does what I need it to with a smart home consisting of 100s of devices. BIG problem I have, which I see no where online, is when I download the app, my Bluetooth is no longer usable. Any connection, AirPods, watch, car, and work headset are no longer staying connected consistently. I’ll be driving around with Bluetooth audio that sounds like it’s buffering on a daily up connection and running with my AirPods in wondering why it’s pauses every 10-20 seconds. The Alexa app is the problem and has caused me to purchase a new phone while troubleshooting the issue.

Reminders and Tasks in the upgrade are messed up
A few years ago I set up recurring reminders that kept our household up to date on everything. Reminders included birthdays, drug prescription refills, when to leave for appointments, when to change the air filters in the HVAC, everything. Now after the upgrade, someone thought it would be helpful to add checkboxes in the phone and iPad app and count as overdue any reminder that wasn’t checked off. So now the Alexa app believes that EVERYTHING, like when to start the weekly laundry from three years ago, is now overdue. Every reminder to wish someone a happy birthday in the last three year
