I have used this app for years without any serious issues. Yesterday, the app wasn’t working, so I paid with a card because the cashier told me I could still get my usual stars if I entered it into the app. There was no area to enter a receipt, so I started a customer service chat on the app. They told me that even though I paid with a card because their app wasn’t working, I was being courteous to the line of people behind me, and I was not wasting their supplies, I only got half the stars I usually get. Great App but New Bugs
I have had the Starbucks app since it came out. I have an iPhone. Within the last 6 months I cannot locate any stores “near me” or anything other than the stores I have as my “favorites.” I travel a lot and use Order Ahead as I don’t want to waste the time sitting and waiting for 20 minutes to order at the store on arrival. I like that the Starbucks app is easy to use. If I’m being honest, it’s the easiest of the food reward program apps to use and it is consistent. What I don’t like is that they took away the ability to get bonus points for a bit…along with raising their prices…again. Seamless but not perfect
The app runs really well and I like the update they did awhile back where you can now look at the menu without clicking on a specific store for ordering. There’s two more changes I’d make to make it a perfect app. I’d make there be no minimum reload amount, even a $5 minimum would be better than the $10, but no minimum is ideal. Secondly, I would like it if when you’re making modifications the calorie total changes according to what you’re doing. I downloaded this app when I got 2 gift cards for Christmas. I entered both. I used one at the airport and it was working fine. Then suddenly the gift cards disappear. Within the last year I downloaded the Starbucks app hoping it would be a more convenient and accommodating way to place and pick up orders around my busy life schedule. yeah. Newish to the app, I wanted to order ahead with a gift card. I noticed the auto reload and went to my card in the app, changed it to “off” on auto reload. Hit save, said my changes were saved. Went back to my cart and said that auto reload was still on for $25… so I clicked $10 just to be safe, as I literally had just enough on my gift card to buy one drink and I didn’t want it to charge my card $25 and overdraft. I like the app. Occasionally it has some glitches that can last a month or a little longer. I had an issue not being able to select stores and also with the maps feature. Overall it is very nice that we have this kind of technology. I never imagined as a kid life would be this good. Ordering coffee with standing in line or carrying cash. It all gets done digitally. The app has been useful over the last couple years, they do updates a few times over the past couple years and there is still room for improvement.
1. I wish there was a better way to have stores list what’s out of stock on a more updated basis. A few times I’ve ordered something that’s new and it’s available on the app but it’s sold out when I pick up. So they ask me what to replace it with. I really have come to love and prefer mobile ordering, but over the last few updates, this app has made it basically impossible to select a store without sharing your location. I do not wish to share location data with this app. I originally could favorite a store and quickly choose it from my list with no issue. The last update made it so that you have to zoom in on the map over the area and select "search this area". NOW, they've taken that feature away and the only way to order is to share your location. Although i like the app sometimes it drives me crazy. I’d like to be able to order a 1/2 shot of something because the drink I adjust when I ask for a whole extra shot it comes out disgustingly sweet and syrupy but when I do t it doesn’t taste like chai at all but steamed milk. As many others have written here, when something goes wrong with an order it’s really a pain to get it resolved. On a couple occasions, I’ve placed a mobile order and gone to pick it up, to discover my order was missing something. The first time this happened in the store, and they gave me a refund at the register. The second time, I didn’t notice until I got home. This app is good, it’s user friendly and comes in handy when i want to check if my store has the flavors/syrups or food i want. And i really like that the app tells me the calories…
BUT There are a couple of things that could make the app 5 stars…
The first thing I wish they would add is if when you customize a drink, the calorie content should update as you add or take away something to the drink (i.e. calorie content updating when you add an extra shot or extra pump of vanilla.)

I’ve had the Starbucks app on my phone FOREVER and it’s one of my most frequently used apps outside of social media. Been through many phones, updates and some glitches, but never like this! It’s just a great app
As someone who doesn’t drink coffee and only goes every now and again, I find the Starbucks app extremely useful. I think the thing I use it for the most is to check whether a location has what I want to get, which is great because then I don’t go to one that’s out of everything. Design and UI wise, obviously fitting the brand to a T, the UI has gotten increasingly better as it’s been updated. Inconsiderate controls
Starbucks really was not thinking when they designed this particular application on the scan function. You need to redo it-Individuals should absolutely retain control of how bright a screen can be made and yet the Starbucks application automatically takes it all the way up to 100% anytime you touch the Scan button. This is particularly uncomfortable if you are looking at your application and you hit that button and you happen to have a light sensitive disorder- this is agony. I realize why Starbucks did this -so that it’s easier to scan it in store- but there was no actual *reason* to do it.

Yes, the app definitely needs tweaking! I’ve encountered so many times where the app wasn’t in sync with the store’s hours, product availability, etc. and mainly because of changes due to the virus. Needs to provide status of your current mobile order.
First time user of the app, so take this for what its worth but no where in the app could I find the status of my current order. Under “Orders”, my current order showed up as the top most order but no status. It looked no different than orders placed last week or weeks before. No status.
Why is this important? When I got inside the store, the pickup area was somewhat chaotic. There’s no line, just a bunch of ppl hovering around the pickup area, and some people waiting patiently on one the “wait here” floor stickers. So what should I do?

The location choosing feature is flawed
The location choosing feature is difficult and there is no way to cancel an order after you make it. I was in the car and thought I’d chosen the location using the location finder. I placed my order, only to realize afterwards that it had somehow decided to choose the store that was closest to my location when I had started placing the order. Not only was there no way to cancel through the app, but there was no way to call the store through the app nor was there a listed phone number. When I added a gift card and continued to put money on with a credit card it worked out well I would get points and I would get closer and closer to getting a free drink and the 400 star points now when I updated my phone and tried to get a drink I had no points nothing, I then tried to log in again because it had kicked me out of my account and nope it will not let me in.
