Simple
I love that this journaling app is visually clean and simple in its functionality. It makes me able to focus on getting my thoughts out right away rather than clicking through a bunch of ads or pop ups or other disruptions. You login and your journal is right there and you make one click to open a new entry (the entry opens with date auto populated) or one click to look back at past entries. Simple, clean, easy to use.

Keep Journaling
I’ve been doing this for at least 10 years now and highly recommend it. The only issue I have with it is that once in awhile it doesn’t sync as expected between my computer and phone and it gives me scare that something has been lost….but I think it’s ok. Nice thing is how interesting Penzu sends an email that shows what I said on that same date in various years previous. Keeps me enthused about journaling.

I’ve used this for so many years and I love how it is so easy to add a thought, experience, picture when I’m on a trip or lying down at night. When going through a terrible personal event, I had journal entries sent to me monthly to remind myself of my progress, and provide positive self talk. It can be a letter to my future self! A glitch?
I’ve been using Penzu for at least 3 years now. I’ve used it for personal diaries and mostly poems. I love it, I have no complaints! But, I’ve recently noticed that a few of saved entries I wrote 2 years ago, are updated to this year? I find it strange, and it could possibly be a glitch? I would love for it to be fixed! Otherwise, the app itself is great and I would recommend it to anyone who wants a virtual diary!!

Used to……Love it!
Don’t want to update my prior review, but I can’t add photos or easily locate how to contact support. I literally just paid full price for it 5 minutes ago, and I’m pretty frustrated and disappointed that I can’t even reach out for help. Will update review again if anyone ever tries to fix this. It's perfect for what I need. Multiple journals in the same spot protected with a passcode. Only "bug" is you have to wait to see the green check mark before you exit from an entry or it won't save it. Once I realized that, I've had no issues. Perfect!!

Simply Wonderful
I have used Penzu for at least eight years and continue to be in a sense comforted by its simplicity. The makers of Penn, who don’t pressure me to GoPro and I know that it’s always an option. The microphone feature is very accurate and you don’t have to be a to use it. Simplicity is key accuracy is key and Penzu covers all of that.

I enjoy using the app and appreciate the lock feature with password on it, ability to add photos and use talk-to-feature. only downside with this Is that a crashes after each sentence and I have to Open app and continue where I left off. It’s to the point where I just have to continue to type the rest of my entry and no longer use the talk to text feature sometimes way.

Great idea poor app
Penzu has a pleasant design and I really like the “on this day” emails that show me journal entries from previous years. The iOS app is very buggy though, and as a paid subscriber I have to say it’s not up to the standard of other paid journaling apps. Also, both iOS and desktop handle media files like it’s 1995. For these reasons I now do the majority of my journaling elsewhere. Shame, Penzu could have been the perfect journaling app.

Keyboard Doesn’t Appear on iOS Login Page
I’ve been using Penzu for years, but there is a bug that drives me crazy. I often use the voice typing rather than using the keyboard. It is just so much faster. But when I speak my content, Penzu shut itself off after a sentence or two. I constantly need to reopen my journal entry to continue. This seems like a glitch in the software. Are any software updates on the horizon to address? Also, there isn’t a way to export journals to Word or other software to allow me to use or even see my journals in other formats, all in one document. As it is, I can only see journals one by one in the app. S

Love it, BUT
I love penzu on the computer because of it locking and the storage. My issues with the app are that the talk to text really has a lot of bugs! It just logs out every 60-90 seconds? It is really cumbersome to use. Also, when you log into the app, there is no automatic passcode needed, which means that anybody using my phone could just open up my journal at any point. That’s not cool..

Penzu- Idea Collection Spot
I signed up for Penzu back in 2018 when I started to get serious about my writing, I wanted a place to save my stories but didn’t yet use Google docs. I wrote so many good starts to stories, poems. The nice thing about the app is it keeps sending me reminders of what I wrote- and now years later I can read them with fresh eyes and make more from them. I enjoy the platform for writing- easy on my phone and laptop. And it’s been great for putting down those little ideas that arise when my laptop is nowhere near.

Pretty Cool app
The only thing I don’t like is that you only get one free journal. One time I had the upgrade and it let me make separate journals for different topics which helped me stay more organized. But when I had to pause the subscription for a little it merged all journals and I think I may have even lost some so that sucked.

Great BUT…
I enjoy the app especially the feature that emails you and shares what you wrote in the past. It’s amazing. BUT, the speech to type input constantly closes the app when trying to use the feature. It works for a short while maybe a min or two then closes the app completely. Thankfully it saves the text but it’s a nuisance. I recently broke my dominant hand so it’s hard for me to type and it would be so helpful if that feature worked properly.

How do we contact you with an issue.
The app keeps crashing even though it is completely up to date. I have been using penzu on and off for many years. However I came back and it crashes after every paragraph. How is this fixed. Then try to contact in customer service and there is no email. This is very frustrating. I will update once I hear from this company.

Awesome but not kept up to date
Love this app except it is not being updated. I’ve been 5 years which is a disappointment for me because I already paid for a lifetime subscription. I have recently started having issues with my journal pages not syncing and loosing a lot of work after I typed it out. So just be careful to make sure it’s synced before getting out of a page. But otherwise I love the format, the ability to add photos and the usual syncing.

I wish that you could update the writing environment in the app and I’m kinda bummed I paid hundreds of dollars for something that has now been abandoned. Bummer. It is a fantastic journaling software. I have been using it for ages. I have multiple journals. I can tag and search between them. I have journals for different groups, different book studies, different aspects of my life in addition to a daily journal. This is the most powerful tool I have ever used. Cannot praise it enough!!!

Solid and simple
Penzu is for journaling. If you have the motivation and/or support you need, it’s a very basic app. The top advantage is that you can reach your stuff on all your platforms from any connection anywhere. There are basic options like reminders. You can open multiple simultaneous journals, organizing as you wish. I confess I pay a moderate fee years in advance but you don’t have to. Issues logging In and consistency
I reset my password and it keeps getting a “request fail error.” I’m unable to get in after not using it for a bit but not being able to get back in makes it impossible to use it again. I used it in the past - the reminder emails about “you wrote this x time again” are great but the glitches to use it are rough. Couldn’t ask for anything more out of a journal app
What sets Penzu apart from similar apps for me is how you can very easily sync it between iPhone and desktop. And i just love everything about it, this is the journal app I always reccomend to people. I’ve been using it for around 3 years now. I’m very surprised how it’s not more popular, but I love Penzu and couldn’t reccomend it more. My stuff is very organized and you can create folders for your categories.

DO NOT USE THIS APP
I am beyond frustrated and close to tears. I have used this app to document my kids lives and upgraded to pro nearly two years ago. When I renewed my subscription in April the app did not register the renewal. My phone shows it as renewed but the app and the website will not let me log in. This means I can’t add new entries but I also can’t see any previous entries. They are all held hostage by an app that won’t let me login. When I try to add a support request (horrible support program btw) I am met with an “unknown error” from the website and it immediately deletes my request. Please do not

I’m sorry I have to leave it here, but I can’t find the support email address. Is there a way to have a journal entry be emailed to us by using the app to set a reminder? I know I could do this on the desktop version but for some reason, I can’t see the option on the app and think it’ll be really useful to me a lot of others if just wait to do that. I will change his review to five stars because other than this issue I really appreciate and love this app so thanks in advance for any support you can provide!
