Absolute Garbage, No Meaningful Updates Since 2016
This app worked for about a year almost a decade ago until it started constantly crashing, spewing terrible static, etc. it can't be chalked up as something wrong with the interfaces I've used, as they've all been IK MM interfaces. I must stupid, because I've bought several IK MM apps, their add-ons, and various interfaces, include guitar and MIDI keyboard controllers. Those were complete garbage, too. Steer clear of anything made by IK MM.

This app has gone downhill
I am a long time user of this app and found it to be the best guitar amp app for me. I got this app when I was 13 (I’m 23 now so 10 years) so I could play my guitar without bothering anyone else. I think I paid $20-$30 for this app too so I really hoped it worked great. Sure enough, it was a godsend and I loved just how simple the app was while having many options for tones. But recently, when I open the app, I get this strange intense buzzing or popping sound which makes it impossible to play my guitar. It even makes these noises even when the guitar is not playing. I’ve tried to delete the

I LOVE this app
This app should really be at like 4.5 average stars. Not sure what issues the others have. I’ve used this for probably 7 years now, and love it. I use with iRig I/O or iRig HD 2. I have made some amazing tones, which I record to garage band via inter-app connection. Update a few years later: This app should be 5 stars. All those griping about in app purchases I don’t know what to say. If you used the app as much as I have you would have paid a tiny tiny fraction of what the total cost is now, anyways. The important thing is that I could get the most amazing metal tones with just a few of the

Okay, but disappointed w/ ecosystem
Another person switching to jamup pro here. It was nice to get started with iRig—the interface was ~$30-$40, & there’s a free version of the app. I had my gripes with in app purchases constantly (& even after getting paid version) but ok. I got an iPad and found that it’s a separate thing entirely and no in-app purchases carry over... okay, annoying, but okay—I guess (there are technical explanations/reasons for this). I look into getting some manner of controller to actually be able to use the effects while playing with others (without stopping to tap on my device with the hands I’m using

Good features but...
I have literally stopped using AmpliTube and now exclusively use JamUp Pro. The main reason is due to a hissing in the background that I can't get rid of. The problem is I have contacted customer support about it multiple times, because the hiss is not in any other amp simulator app that I use...only in AmpliTube. I have explained this to them, but the conclusion IK Multimedia keeps arriving at is it is my equipment's fault...even though I don't get hiss in any other app that I use. The noise gate works for the most part, but you can still hear it when you play. I don't have any effect or amp

Fender 2 collection! But IK multimedia support is terrible
Pros - fender 2 collection is immaculate. Sounds incredible and 98% like the real thing! Some genius programmers with some love made that (but IK has terrible business savvy and management) Cons -No good reverb (there's only one IAP reverb pedal and it's awful) -pitch shift pedals tracking sound like robots farting. -tiny pedal collection compared to pc version (why aren't they identical?) -not audiobus 3 compatible. Are your CEOs clueless about ios music community or just lazy and greedy? Also a bit off topic but IK multimedia support wanted me to pay extra money to send in a broken irig

Compared to GarageBand....
So here's what I think... I recently purchased my iPhone 6 which apparently comes standard with GarageBand already downloaded into the phone. After that I went and purchased an iRig 2 because it was on sale at my guitar store. For a while I fiddled around with GarageBand because it was already on my phone and readily available but to my GarageBand sounds very corny and to electronic. There's too much fuzz in the background (I play with headphones on) doesn't really sound like a real guitar. Granted it has a lot of features and most of the amps and stomp boxes are already pre loaded at purchase

Key ingredient missing...
Amplitube for iPad has a host of really great features... And one glaring omission. Let's start with the good: First off, let me say that I am a huge fan IK Multimedia... I am a professional musician, and own several of their products and apps including the full version of Amplitube 3 for My PC, which I use live, and is unbelievably awesome!! The iOS version of Amplitube shares many of these features... Namely, the authentically modeled tones of iconic amps and effects. (Though arguably, not as detailed or precise as the PC version) Second, the outstanding user interface that feels ins

Great App but...
This is truly a great App, the sounds are good and there are a lot of effects to choose from in the basic as well as add ons. I purchased the Fender bundle and was satisfy with the results. However, the app seems to crash recently on start up and I notice the same issue with the built in backing drums. Another issue is the constant solicitation to buy other add ons and products from the company, which really bugs me. "I know where the store is, I'll buy if I need it". Also, I purchased iRig to use with the software a few years ago, and it work well until iRig HD came out, and I notice that

Great for blues ad not much else.
I guess I really understand now that all guitarists either are, or aspire to be 40-55 year old men who either play blues, blues rock, or some variation. I've been denying it for a decade and a half, but there is no illusion I can hold any longer. All guitar media, be it instructional, expositional, or exemplary, is attempting to cater to the American dream of playing the minor pentatonic scale over and over and over and over until music dies. Amplitube is no exception. Everything in this app is generic as anything I've ever heard. You want a metal sounding rectifier/engl tone that's saturated

Not Ideal
What Amplitube does well is tone. I find the amp sims in Amplitube produce some very useable tones, especially compared to their counterparts in Apple's own GarageBand for iOS. However, unless I'm missing something, Amplitube stores the processed signal and NOT the raw signal when recording. This doesn't work. With GarageBand for iOS, for example, the raw signal of your guitar is recorded and the amp sim and stomps applied after that. GarageBand's approach allows you to change amps and effects AFTER you've recorded the part. With that approach you can change a mix after the fact or even sketch

Make sure to install this on the device you will use the most
Got the iRig Stomp and iRig, bought amplitube, slash, and jimi Hendrix versions plus some extras. (so i have about $120 bucks invested) Only had an iPhone at the time. After installing upgrade, app stopped working. Just a bunch of noise would come out. Nothing worked. Also hard to use on phone with the small screen. Bought an IPad. In order to use software, you have to buy everything again. Now I understand that they are two different devices, but you would think you would get a discount or at least make it disable the iPhone version so you could move it to another device. Good sounds, wish the songs importing feature would work better
I think overall this is a great app. The default clean sound is good, actually it's very good. The defaut effects are OK. Nothing spectacular but OK. I'm not super impressed by the default distortions on offer, but I bought the Supersonic Fender amp modeler and the T-Rex overdrive and they sound pretty good, much better than the basic ones. I'm sure the Slash Marshalls are good too. Really, this app can't really disappoint. It's not the real thing of course, so if you expect that this will replace your Fender and Soldano amps and all your effects rack you'll be disappointed, but it's not beca

Amplitube + Apogee Jam = Win
I've had this app for well over a year but never cared a whole lot for it (always buy up all the pedals during sales). Recently they've stepped their game up pretty nice, they finally offer metal effects that I've been waiting for since release and support for the 30 pin connector. This combined with my iPad and speaker dock has become a force to be reckoned with. While my dock isn't loud enough for a live show, it does great for small jams with friends entire rig fits right in my back pack). Just be aware that they sell the iPad app separately though. (I own both and it can get pretty pricey

Great app for practice and learning!
Come folks, for what it is(an iPhone app), this is a great tool for practice, learning, and capturing ideas with your guitar or bass. No serious musician would expect a $10 app to replace a real rack of effects, $2000+ amplifier, and complete studio. The ability to mix a few effects with a decent amp, and play along with music files is great. The song interface is one of the best tools of the app. Slow it down without changing pitch, and you learn guitar and bass lines easily. I give a big thumbs up for a great user friendly app!! Just remember what it actually is and not what you wish you had

Your not getting a $20,000 studio for $20!!
I'm looking at people ripping the crap out of this ap for it not being the mega $20,000 studio for $20, c'mon people!! I love this thing!! Use it for what it is! I had the free, liked it so paid for the full version. you get 5 or 6 stomp boxes that to buy at the store alone would be almost a grand, and they sound GOOD! I ponyed up for the Fender pack and again, lots of amp tones and more stomp boxes that to buy at Guitar Center would be another few grand! I own a few Fender guitars and a real 60w Fender Supersonic amp (there is a supersonic amp tone in the fender pack). I use the irig w

Needs 30 Pin Support
Have had this app via iRig for awhile and while the models sound great (way better than all my Tascam headphone units), I never enjoyed the inherent hiss and crackle. This extra noise forces you to use the noise filter which totally kills your dynamics, especially with the clean amp models. Eventually the hiss will drive you nuts and fighting the temperamental input dongle to get a clean sound will relegate this to a practice tool you only break out occasionally. How anyone could actually record with this is my guess. I just got an Apogee Jam for my Bday which is a guitar input that plugs int

Not ready for primetime
Great idea. Nice looking. Fun... for a few minutes. 1) You have to convert any song that you want to play over into .wav format. Why, I don't know, but it sure takes a long time to convert a song from mp3 to wav. 2) Lot's of snap, crackle, and pops heard through the head phones which are downright annoying. I played with latency settings as advised, but that did nothing to help. 3) Crashes constantly. I'll be in the middle of a song and all of a sudden crash. So, I start the app again and play for a little bit and then crash- again. It seems to be happening only when I'm playing al

Died but now revived
My effects started out working great but then they all quit working.... I emailed the people and they replied with this... - In AmpliTube, click on the Tools page, if you have the Tuner ON button lit, try turning it off. Same with the "Mute" button on the Tuner section - if it is lit, turn it off. - There is also a mini-tuner when looking at the Amps and FX page. The mini-tuner is at the bottom of the screen. If the mini-tuner is turned on, this will bypass the amp and effects. Check to see that the mini-tuner is off. - Go to the REC page. Make sure to always have a track record

Barely OK and very annoying in-app purchase spam
Amplitube is handy on the iPhone for the occasional messing around. The clean amps sound OK but many effects etc. are pretty marginal. The IK Media iRig is a much lower quality, worse sounding and noisier guitar input than the Apogee Jam. And unfortunately the Apogee Jam does not work with Amplitube on the iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad. But the main problem for me is the frequent and very annoying pop-ups for in-app purchases -- and this is in a $20 app I've already purchased. I won't buy the iPad version for this app because of this. IK Media will get no support from me until they remove/allow t

Fantastic app! Everything they said it would be.
I thought it would take a few thousand bucks to get my hands on all those amps and stomps I'd always wanted. Then along comes this app and I'm thinking, is this for real? I went through all the reviews and most of them seemed to know what they were talking about. So .. time to take the plunge .. And I must say: this app is everything they said it would be, and more! Fantastic! I can finally get those sounds I'd always dreamed of. I downloaded the Amplitube, plus the Fender package, plus all the other stomps. Worth every dollar spent. I've played it with earplugs, headphones, mixing phones. I'v

Perfect for my needs
I used to own some 4-track and 8-track cassette recorders back when I was in punk bands in high school and when I saw this classic looking app, I got really excited to try out another no-nonsense, portable studio like the old Tascam's I enjoyed back then. I read a lot of reviews about hiss when the gain levels got too high on distortion, but coming from a punk rock back ground, I think this app makes my tunes sound great! And for a guy who's more interested in the expression in his music than the perfection that comes from a 32 track mixing board with full EQ controls on each track and softwa

Of all the guitar amp apps, this is by far my favorite one. Excellent tones, it really sounds noticeably better than the others. I like the song practicing functionality, except I don't get why songs have to be imported and converted from the AACs in the iTunes library. I purchased the complete Fender pack, and it really sounds great, too. It does a lot for me that they managed to get Fender's seal of approval for this. It just feels better to play a Fender Twin Reverb than a "Blackface" or "American Clean". Are you listening Agile/Peavey and Line 6? Btw I use a Peavey Ampkit Link to connect m

Better than I expected
I bought the iRig and the Amplitube app, Amplitube is less noisy, has good sound quality, and the song interface is superior in that you have full control of the song, levels, and can loop a section when trying to learn a difficult part. The Amplitube app shines for noodling around and learning songs - it's worth the money for nothing more than that. It's not studio quality but for what it is, it's pretty cool. The guitar I've been using with it is a '91 Fender Strat Ultra with lace sensor pickups - so I expect most of the noise is probably coming from crosstalk in the iPhone - and it's much

Just really cool
This is why I love the iPhone. A F@&$ing guitar amp on my phone. So far it is working great. I love the effects, different amp styles, and mics. The built in recorder is nice, though I have not purchased the four-track yet. The only issue I find is with the Export. You have to load the file first, exit back to the list of recordings, then export. Once I figured this out, I got used to it. I use this app as a "sketch book" of sorts for guitar playing. I wouldn't use it to record an album, but it is perfect for remembering that new idea for a song and providing well above average sound

2.0.3: sounds much better even than the 2.0 version. Nice that they keep improving the sound, as all the other stuff is just fluff. Honestly I can't believe anyone would consider ampkit, it sounds like a 2 dimensional buzz saw. These amplitube models have much more in the way of dynamics and tonal variation. 2.0 review: amp models sound so much better. Bought the recording add on and love it. No way as far as I can tell to sync up the metronome for recording use, and certainly no included drum machine of any kind. But a solid 4 track, much like sonoma's app minus the drums but with bussable

OK, I just spent the last hour with the Fender upgrade; I have owned the Amplitube app for many months and use it heavily. First, let me say that I know something about guitars and amps, having played for 40+ years and owned ~15 guitars and half a dozen amps. I love this app and the Fender additions are great. The money I've spent total is easily worth it, though some may find it steep; sound quality blows away dedicated portable amps like the PocketRockit (awful) and at least the free versions of other guitar apps. Like the ease of quickly loading songs off of your iTunes and slow 'em down fo

Limited usefulness to bass players; very noisy for everyone
This is guitar-oriented app, though there is a small sub-set of amps, cabs, and effects that are potentially good for bass players. The problem is it is very difficult to get a clean sound through Amplitube. The overall modeling bias is toward crunchy, overdriven tones which might be OK for rock guitarists, but masks the fundamental tone of a bass too much to be of use to me. Also, aside from the modelling, the app (running with a Lakland bass plugged into the $40 iRig accessory with a Mogami cable) is incredibly hissy. When you try to boost the input and/or output levels over the hiss, it di

Not sure about all the gripes here. I've been waiting and waiting for an app that records mulit-tracks WITH guitar effects. Finally, there is one! Not only that, it now imports and exports to itunes from WITHIN the phone. It also now has song effects. You can use the built in mic for vocals and acoustic instruments. There is a phrase looper and a slow player (though the slow player has been buggy for me). It's a gorgeous interface. I can sit down with my little travel electric on the couch or in the car and have a full electric guitar studio fest. I mean, come on... Make sure to get an iRig (
