DONT USE THIS APP TO ORDER FROM MCDONALDS
After a long day i was really hungry so i had ordered myself McDonalds using the app as i have never used it before. Never again. I had ordered the food at around 7 to be charged a £2 service fee which was already a bit annoying but u go noted it as i was hungry and wanted food, just to be told it would be coming in half an hour which got me a bit upset but i also swept it under the rug. Overall, I really enjoy using the app! Some of the things I love:
Earning rewards and building up points – it’s a great incentive and really adds value.
Flexible ordering options – whether we’re doing drive-thru, popping in-store, using Click & Serve (a lifesaver with kids!), or getting it delivered, it’s super convenient.
Easy browsing and ordering – the menu is well-organized and straightforward to navigate.
Customization is a breeze – as someone who’s a bit particular about my food, I really appreciate being able to tweak my order easily.

Not user friendly
There is no way to view previous orders! The recent orders on the MORE tab open a page to start an order with no previous orders showing at all!
I faced an issue where I had PayPal linked as a payment method, placed an order when it asked for adding a bag at the of the order, I pressed continue and it stayed on the same screen but the PayPal payment went through. The worst app I've ever beed forced to use.
This app is the most frustrating thing to attempt to use. It's SEVERELY laggy to even scroll through the menu, often mistakes the swipes to scroll as taps into the options so you have to wait several seconds while it processes the tap, another several seconds while it loads the option it thinks you chose, then wait for the same process again when you tap to go back - which usually puts you back at the top of the list you were initially trying to scroll through. Until start of December 2024, the app worked fine. But since then, it seems to have got worse, despite some information sent on the App Store download app page saying that updates were made recently. What sort of updates were they if it keeps on saying that there’s a problem with checking out after adding orders to basket. It switches between a message that „there is is a problem in the kitchen” to a point where it shows breakfast items, even after breakfast time has ended. With McDonald’s being such a big company, you’d expect there would be enough money to invest in some expertise when developing their app. Sadly, this is not the case. The app frequently crashes or stalls when trying to add items to your basket, using rewards or points is another crashing source and items in store are not always available on the app (the limited edition lattes for example, but the regular versions are). The app is incredibly frustrating to use. It’s extremely slow and laggy, even in the latest iPhone 16 Pro Max. The app freezes often and seems to suffer from poor memory management. Minimizing the app, especially on older phones, often leads to it being offloaded from memory, and reopening it makes features like order tracking unavailable.

Order a head of time what a laugh food is never ready…. .
If u order ahead of time why does it still takes on average 20 minutes to get your food ? My order is on the screen only 3 currently on the preparing yet 8 numbers before mine is being called …. And I get the queue in the drive through is so ridicules that it is queuing back to the traffic lights. Still no food to speak of… I love the the grumpy staff and customers. I had issue with app so many times. I order food for delivery and they always not even once but always miss miss one of my order and when I use the virtual assistant chat with them they tell me to contact UBER EATS for refund as they are the one that will help and when I try to call them they don’t even pick up call.

Absolute rubbish. Just started using the app. Made 10 orders in about a month. Then my order doesn’t show up. Says the driver is out side. I went out they wasn’t there. Checked back in the app. Says the driver tried to contact me. I check my call log, they didn’t. My last call was 12 hours before. Check my details to make sure the mobile number was correct. It was. I ordered through this app for the first time to which it then stated my order had been delivered but hadn’t been! Worst app for deliveries ever
Use Uber Eats instead!! This app is useless. My 5 orders with this app have either had constant missing items, or not been delivered. After my last delivery didn’t arrive I received a notification it was delivered. But once the order is marked as delivered by the driver, there is NO OPTION in the McDonalds app to see previous orders or get through to customer support. You are forced to either a support line which took 90 mins to answer! And finally a refund and start again with Uber Eats direct on their app. Despite getting a receipt via email, phoning the restaurant direct doesn’t help either

The app itself is fine, as long as you’re ordering food for collection in store and don’t chose the delivery option, which I’ve done twice now before deleting the app for good after numerous issues. I have downloaded the McDonald’s app this morning and placed my 1st order (breakfast) for me, my partner (who’s in active labour) and my 6 year old daughter. The order arrived within about 20 minutes, which was great, but only half of the order was in the sealed bag. The full order was on the receipt stuck on the sealed bag. They have dropped support for my device, which I only found out after an hour of trying to get logged in.
The app is only useful if the store you are going to uses it. My local does not so deleted the app ages ago from my main device. Was heading to a store today that does use it, but now you need to verify the device and the email account is on a different device. Finally got the email across and through spam to find the link had expired. Did it all over again to find that I have to update the app and it doesn’t support my device anymore. Great. There were a few gremlins in the early days but the app is now up there with the best. It is so much easier to make your selection before arriving at the location. If I can’t stop because I am driving I will quickly park up in one of the spaces and order before moving to the drive thru. Perhaps you could provide a few preorder parking bays? I can imagine it being a boon to those who have a large family order; helps to reduce the queues for others too.

Why do you need to store card details?
Not giving an option to store card details is unacceptable! You are not a regular billing service therefore the storing of card details should be OPTIONAL. Even when using Apple Pay you can’t use complete registration without storing a card. You are NOT an essential creditor like utility companies and in this day of card fraud being so rife it’s absurd that you make the storing of card information compulsory when many of us will use apple pay in the app. This stinks of unnecessary data collection practices. This app has to be the most awkward, time consuming waste of everyone’s time. You can create an account, but god forbid you get logged out. You will spend the rest of your time receiving error codes.
