Open Sesame!

This app worked great for years. For the last several months, every time I click on it there is nothing but a white screen with a never ending loading indicator. A daily delete app, reload, and sign in are required. Please help! I’m sharing this same information that I sent several months ago. It got better for a short while, and I was going to update my response to a positive one. Oops. It’s broken again!

Started for school

I started using this to read one of my most coveted magazines that were not really found in stores. Azure Magazine. Well I found other digital magazines in its shelves and decided to download it back in 2011 when I discovered it. Right when iPad was introduced and I was enrolling in school after that. Workee Wonkee

I have subscribed for several years now and it worked at first. I enjoy reading mags on my phone in the am with my first cup of coffee. However, I have had several crashes where no magazines show up. The only fix that seems to work is to uninstall and reinstall it. Today, it will not show the latest issues of my subscribed magazines. It is very annoying crawling through a list of fixes when this is supposed to be something enjoyable.

Then I have to download each magazine to have it available in my library to read. Have contacted ZINIO support and the above was their solution. The app is updated to the latest soft ware version. Have been a subscriber for the last 17 years without this problem. Have to down grade to 3 star rating from a consistent 5 star level until ZINIO comes up with a solution.

I absolutely love ZINIO I was born in Spain and when I was 11 moved to Denmark. My dad was from Spain and my mom from Denmark. Here I can purchase and keep in touch with what is going on in my countries culturally, fashion and gastronomic. Danish, English, Spanish even German magazines. I can find favorite recipes, gossip magazines and fashion styles. I love ZINIO..please get more magazines from Denmark, Spain and South Korea. I am trying to learn Korean. Reading magazines helps keeps my languages fresh and not loosing the ability to speak, read and write them.

Easy access on airplanes would be preferred

Every time I get on an airplane, this app makes it difficult to get to my magazines. It appears to be a problem with access to the Internet. The whole point of having a digital magazine app is to be able to look at the magazines on an airplane or while traveling and you don’t necessarily have an Internet connection. This needs to be improved.

Latest Update Goes Backwards

Everything Pluto1215 said. Dark mode is gone. Formatting (such as text size) is gone. There’s no real difference between PDF and text modes anymore. And if you enter text mode, you can no longer close it to go back into PDF mode (you’re forced to restart the app). Latest update is a big step backwards from what was a nice reading experience before.

Latest update a bit wonky

I really enjoyed the experience of reading on Zinio until this latest update. Now I cannot reas in dark mode (only the outer edges change but the page/text itself doesn’t) and the other format changes no longer work, such as increasing or decreasing the size of the text. Essentially there is no difference between their “text mode” or as a PDF. Lastly, the app glitches and after a few taps you are unable to “close” what you’re reading.

Waste of time and money

Downloaded this app on my iPad. Purchased a magazine. An hour later, instead of the magazine I purchased, a random foreign language magazine appeared in my library, not related in any way to the one I purchased. Sometimes issues happen so I used the “contact us” link in the app to send a message. 3 days, no response. That’s $7 down the drain. Deleting app and moving on. Save yourself the money and aggravation and look elsewhere.

I was automatically logged out of the app and every time I try and log in I get an error message. I cannot log in and view all my magazine subscriptions. I have tried resetting my password numerous times and it is still not working. I am very frustrated and would not recommend anyone using this app as you will be throwing your money away on magazines that you will not be able to access.

Like it, but finicky offline

The app does well enough, but more than once I’ve gotten on a flight and haven’t been able to access my downloaded magazines. There’s come sort of bug so you have to open every magazine up, then go into airplane mode. After that things seem to go ok. I wish I didn’t have to do the workaround though.

I love the fact that my magazines are electronic and can be found on a single app. I don't like the fact that, 1. I have to wait until my subscription expires until I can renew it. 2. I am not allowed to subscribe multiple years at one time. 3. my preferred magazines don't come up at the front. 4. And there is no way to hide magazine suggestions that are offensive to me.

Worst Magazine Host

I have a subscription to Mens Health but have not been able to download any new issues for almost 5 months. I’ve written several help messages though their app but no one has been able to correct the issue nor do they feel it’s their problem. I’d recommend not using this app unless you like not being able to read the materials you purchase. They also do not have any contact phone number so good luck getting a hold of a person to help you.

I have tried the app today in multiple versions of iOS and all I get when I try to open the app is “The current version is no longer available. Updated. Frustrated with repeated syncing issues

Update: Issues resolved with coordination of tech support. I hope permanently, but I expect not. Long time, many years, user of this app. I’ve purchase several subscriptions. My problem is with borrowing. Most libraries use it for checking out magazines and this has been challenging. Over the last year or so, I have had continual issues with magazine that are checked out, but do not appear in the App Library. So, no way to read them. Tied of turning off advertisement

So I love this app - use it all the time - but constantly suffer the frustration of ZINIO’s way of treating users. I spend money for several magazines every month, zinio you already got paid stop spamming me. Developer is going to post a message below saying, turn off the notifications, I already did, also per the developer previous notes, I also already called support and asked to be removed from advertising. Yet advertising keep coming back. Zinio grow up. If I did not have so much content I love on your platform, I would have deleted it long ago.

Just renewed my subscriptions. Now new issues won’t download. Their customer support had me delete the app and sign back in but now my user name and password does not work. The reset password link provided just gives an error message despite an appropriate password. I got nuthin now Revised. There was an error on their end which was fixed. Smooth interface but no way to delete magazines anymore

I really like everything about the app except that my delete button is grayed out no matter how I try to troubleshoot. Online searches have given me a couple of options on deleting unwanted magazines but nothing has worked. Depends & disappointing

Great selection & great format for reading however it lacks the ability in any passages from my magazine purchases that give audio examples- I.e. total guitar & guitar technique- it would be great if they could figure this out because it has forced me to go directly to those mags listed above to purchase another subscription to hear examples- disappointing

This a review I thought I sent years ago but looks like it was stuck in the app. My iPad zoom issues seem to have disappeared and most magazines accommodate my aging eyesight. I’ll submit my earlier complaint to show how much they have improved. Good job Zinio! I love being able to carry a library of magazines on my iPad. And with my aging eyesight, I love being able to enlarge the text. But apparently these guys have perfect eyesight. Nice APP for reading my favorite magazines

A nice alternative to reading the paper version of my favorite magazines on my iPad or iPhone whether at home or away on vacations or anywhere else where bringing a magazine is not convenient. It has a reader view for larger print which makes it easier to read than the print magazine version. Not all magazines are available though.
