The desktop version especially on a wired connection is reliable and you hardly know a difference that the VPN is on when it comes to speed. However, the mobile version is the absolute worst. Its connection is extremely slow and although it’s not blocking data throughput because it is connected, the speeds are unbearable and many applications will not load. Works 90% of the time
When I’m away from my house, this VPN works 98% of the time. When I’m in my house…. Works 90% of the time. The other 10%, I can’t connect to any state within the USA, or any country. The app will prompt “dropped connection, attempting to reconnect” and then the “spinning wheel of death” (what I call it) will show that it’s attempting to reconnect, but doesn’t. I felt very highly of this app at first and now I have sudden problems. Otherwise I would have given 5 Stars! I have this app on my computer and my iPhone. Not sure if it’s just coincidence or what. First year with this VPN was good. I started getting timeout error and random disconnects and decided to cancel subscription. Newest Update is frustrating!
I have been a paying customer for a few years. The new update has changed the way it connects and now connects to the “Fastest Location" instead of the last location. I live in Germany, but use the VPN to be able to access some US websites that block overseas traffic (I am a US Citizen, currently living in Germany). It just works. I don’t even know I have it running sometimes. I have to check to make sure. It’s so seamless the way it works. I’ve been using Washington D. C. A lot. It has been the fastest and most stable so far. Even if I set it for a different country it works. May be better VPN’s out there
I downloaded ExpressVPN with high hopes. I’m impressed by the number of servers it has and its ability to work with Netflix. However what I’m troubled by is the number of times it buffers and crashes. I know it’s the software because I’ve turned it off and had no problems getting to sites. (Yeah, goodbye anonymity on that one 😄). Also, when the buffering happens the VPN sometimes crashes. It’s frustrating. Works great if only VPN
Works great on devices that have only this VPN. For some reason when I work on a personal device that I've brought for work usage, this is the only VPN that fails to play nicely with my Work VPN sessions connecting then dropping. Most other VPNs I've tried will automatically connect once my work VPN session is over except this one, leading to a pretty serious security vulnerability in the App's design.
