Description

No more fiddling with spreadsheets and print outs at the gym. This app calculates the weights you should use, based on your one rep max, for the 3-week Smolov Jr. and 13-week Full Smolov Squat protocols. The app also makes it easy to keep track of where you are in the cycle. This Russian squat cycle has also been used by many for other lifts such as the bench press, shoulder press and deadlift with big jumps in strength. Smolov isn't for new lifters, but if you have some experience under your belt (like with 5/3/1, starting strength, 20 squat, etc.), then this may be a great lifting protocol for you.

Wrong Calculations
The app does a good job calculating based off percentages of your inputted 1RM. However, it does not add the 20 and 30 pound increases during the intermediate phase of the program (weeks 4 and 5). It only goes up by the increment you set app (5-10lbs).

Great app for strength building
I have used this program for the last 2-3 years and it has been the simplest and most personalized program I’ve been on. (That’s free) My one thing I’d like to see is for it to be broken down into body parts. i.e. arms, legs, etc. it gets a little lengthy for me and the organization it currently has gets a little rough. Thank you again for a great program! I tell everyone I work with and see in the gym about it!

If you work it, It works!
This app got me up to 285 lbs. bench by simply following what it recommended I workout with based solely from my max. I'm 50, & this crazy app got me up to a one rep max of 285 lbs. I would be at 315 by now had I not quit. This app works great but you have to be patient & let your muscles recover!

It was Great. What happened??
App was great. It got my 1 rep max up by 70 Lbs in a month. But then it got “updated” and now the calculations are off and it leaves all the sets i have to do at the same weight! Really frustrating. Other friends with this app had the same issue

Update messed it up
Was a good app until this last update when they separated everything into the actual sets instead of sessions. Now I have to mark off a ton of boxes and also the app won't save any of the boxes I've checked off. Was better before the update.

Solid simple app, 50# gain in one cycle
I have been using the app for Smolov Sr, after the retest week when checking the box for completing a lift if the app is closed and reopened the weights change. If the box is subsequently unchecked, app closed and reopened the weights revert back to original. Have sent an email into support not sure if this is a known issue.

I had one completed cycles and two current cycles. After the update, they're all gone. Additionally, I made a new cycle and checked off the days I completed already, clicked done and it's showing under "completed" instead of current even though I only checked off the days on week 1.

Could use improvement
I like how it calculates the weight for you. Takes the time of me figuring it out myself. However, there are some issues with it. After week 3 of the base cycle it suggests to add and additional 20 lbs from week 3 and +30 for the following week. It does not calculate that for you in the app. Also, whenever you put your new max in after the mid cycle test day it changes all the previous numbers. There should be another section to put your new max in for the intense cycle so it doesn't change your base and intro numbers. It would be nice to edit the weight to put the extra +20/30 lbs after week

The app looks good, but that's about it. A generic app for Smolov does a better job than this one, and it isn't even that spectacular. Weeks 2 and 3 don't even list, nor take into account the additional weight to be added to each days % amount. Fix it. Overall, a pretty week attempt.

Worse than the mobile website
At least include all of the features from the mobile site in the app. No schedule other than day 1, day 2, etc. No percentage breakdown. For more information, the app tells you to go to the website. There is no reason to download this app.

Increment feature doesn't work
Got this app to help with Smolov and wanted to round my weights to the nearest 5 lb increment, but it doesn't work. Also wish there was more functionality with each lift/set (like a place to take notes and the ability to change the weight if I have to modify). The only thing you can do is check off the set, saying that you did it. It would also be nice to know what the percentages are supposed to be and not just the weight based on your 1 rep max. Overall disappointed with this app. I didn't end up using it.

Works perfect
This app takes the guesswork it of running the full Smolov or Smolov Jr. cycles. You just plug in your max, and the increment you want to increase by on the second week, and it calculates the weights for the entire program. Simple to use and understand. And you can check the box marked 'Done' after you finish the day. Honestly, anything that makes Smolov a little easier is a good thing...Trust Me!
