I gave this a shot and had it as my only dating app. I heard it was the best for people with real intention of finding a long term partner. I was not satisfied. First, the prompts are cursory and superficial. I didn't feel like they revealed anything important about me and I got very little sense of who others were, if they were actually there for something deep or just kicking tires. I am here first and foremost to say that the “unmatch” feature needs improvement. Specifically, the options for why you are unmatching are too limited. You have “no reason” and “im not interested in this person,” but all the other options are like, safety related. This is the quickest to ban, male hating app that exists. If a female is incredibly rude to you and reports you first, you’re banned if you said anything back. “Designed to be deleted” ya got that right
Anyone who’s ever used dating apps knows they’re a nightmare. It doesn’t matter what app you use, let’s be honest, the dating pool is the same no matter what. But Hinge fails more than the others I’ve used simply for the layout.
Hinge does not allow a bio, so the only way to express anything about yourself is through meaningless prompts and I think a total of 6 photos. And that is it.
My other issue with the app is the layout. Instead of having important things like age, height, location, child status, religion/political views, etc. all in one easy-to-view section they have it as a small ban

Hinge is hands down the best dating app. It’s clean, easy to use, and simple to find matches. However, like all dating apps, it prioritizes subscriptions and the amount of matches over actual connection. I am not one to write reviews unless it’s forced out of me but I am extremely disappointed and disheartened with my recent experience on Hinge. After only two weeks on the app, my account was suddenly removed without any notice, consent, or valid explanation. The only reasoning I was later provided and one month of asking for an explanation I was given suggested that I “appeared younger than my stated age,” which is not only incorrect but also inappropriate. As of this year (2025), I think it's pretty safe to say the app has achieved the status of being too dysfunctional to count as a real dating app anymore. It has joined the graveyard with fellow apps that constantly ask you to pay for something that seems pretty broken. Match Group is the dominant player in the dating app space, so if you’re on any apps, you’re probably on this one or Tinder. This is the only dating app I used, and I chose it after reading a ton of reviews and recommendations for the over-50 demographic. I had never dated online before, but Hinge was fun and easy.
