I enjoy the 9 news app and mainly go into it to get the correct weather forecast. My phone is always wrong it seems. My only complaint is the weather maps and radar cannot be zoomed in. They are so small you cannot tell the cities or even the counties. It would really help if that could be changed please. The same with the pictures on the stories. I guess we are all spoiled with being able to zoom in on our phones just about everything.

Notification settings don’t exist
I have configured in the app the notifications I would like to receive, turning off all notifications EXCEPT breaking news, safety, weather and traffic alerts. THIS DOES NOT EXIST! I still receive notifications for EVERYTHING!!!! I do not care about a story about Morgan Wallen performing at Mile High. I do not care about some sports team hiring some coach, NFL or college. I think you all need to reconsider what you think breaking news is. Or at least give me a more detailed option to configure what I want to see.

New format is terrible
After the format of the app changed about a month ago, I’m finding it is not what it used to be, mostly headlines and videos, less articles, and hard to even discern what is new or old stuff. Their merger of local stations probably resulted in this. I have switch to a competitor news provider after this change in 9NEWS app.

New version review
So far not a fan. I mainly use it for weather and that seems to be hit or miss, as in loading. Sometimes you open the app select weather and you get a blank page. Close app down all the way try again and it populates. Ended up switch to apples weather app and just uninstalled 9News, will try again in a few months to see if they can get the bugs removed.

After a recent “makeover” the app doesn’t show me the stories I want to see. Weather information is limited without watching the entire pre recorded forecast. And you cannot search for what you are looking for anymore, feature is gone. Better to just go to the website

Update is trash
Idk who decided this app needed an update but they were incredibly wrong. The app used to be my primary source of news, not just local. But I can’t even read the articles I am trying to navigate to now. It’s always crashing or lagging. Or it buries what article you are trying to find. Really sad to see an unnecessary update ruin the app so quickly. Please make the previous version live again.

What happened?!?!
This used to be my primary app for catching up on the news. The latest update is horrible. Important news is buried and extremely hard to find. But if I want to know about the latest sports or restaurant/retail store openings, they are front and center. And for some reason there will be a couple versions of the same headline in a row. There is almost no national or international news. Almost feels like our news feed is being censored.

What happened?
I can barely use this app anymore and wonder what happened to it and why it was changed. I now have to look at the ch 7 news app for my local news. Your app is too messed up now. I hate using it and I hate whatever you did to it. Also, why do I have to only look at the app one way it doesn’t rotate on my iPad so I can only scroll through every story after story and never can see what is ahead that I may be interested in. I don’t want it to only look like a book. I want to look at her horizontally like I did until recently.

Horrible changes to app
I don’t know why 9 News can’t manage to have a user friendly app or website. It’s been awful for years and somehow they’ve managed to make it worse. Can’t get the app to even open half the time. Layout and access to stories is illogical. Weather section is all videos and no actual written reports. When I get a news notice I NEVER have been able to click and open it in the app. It just sits and spins. I could go on. Perhaps this poorly designed, almost unusable app is a taste of what we can expect once the right wing nuts take over the station.

This update is horrible! The app takes forever to load and actually open now because of all the flash nonsense. Then all you can do is endlessly scroll until you hopefully find what you’re looking for because THERE IS NO SEARCH FUNCTION.

Latest updates make this app virtually unusable
I’m a busy person and used to rely on this app to keep up to date. I appreciated how it would send me alerts and I could quickly tap on them to learn more. Now, when the app opens, there is this flashy animated screen that takes FOREVER to get through the animations. And sometimes it just hangs there…never taking me to the story. I am already interacting with your app…I don’t need a bunch of marketing. I already bought in. This is so annoying, I’m considering deleting the app.

2026 Update is Terrible
The update released early 2026 is absolutely terrible. The main screen loads less than 50% of the time, when it does load, it takes forever. Frequently get “Unable to Load” errors. The page layout and font is awful and hard to read. Miss the old app. Just downloaded Denver7. Will use that until this mess is fixed.
2/26 Edit to add the feature where you click on a notification and are greeted with a too long, extended welcome screen, followed by a grey screen where the article should be is especially annoying.

Have used this app for most of my adult life. It was my go to source of news on the area. After the last update, I deleted it. It’s non-functional, difficult to navigate and the design is awful. 2026 Update
9NEWS provides up to date information. They are on top of breaking news in Colorado and national news. However, I’m very disappointed with the new update when watching live video. It has a dark grey bottom that disrupts the visual view of live. At least for now videos are still visually clear.

I’ve been a regular user of this app for at least 10 years, and while the previous version was finicky and desperately screamed for an update, this new version isn’t an improvement. What I loved about the app previously was that I could refresh it and get a current view of the newest/most important stories right at the top. Now, the content both feels stale and I have to scroll and scroll to get a sense of headlines. I guess it’s time to find another news app.

The old app wasn’t great and I often couldn’t get video to work, but at least I could check the weather. The updated app takes forever to load and the weather portion is terrible. Weather Changed
Used to love this app for the more accurate weather, but am writing this prior to deleting after latest update. I guess the idea was to make the 10 day forecast look more modern, but it seems to force you to only see weather metrics through very specific parameters. I don’t need to see a forecast JUST for temperature, I want to be able to have a general summary without having to select for precipitation amount, then precipitation chance, then temp, then air quality. Honestly the design is atrocious, no basic overview options.

Update is HORRIFIC
I've been using this app for years and have loved it! But this new update is absolutely atrocious. No dark mode, interface looks like it was designed by a 9th grader, especially the weather page. The icons are also awful, not easy to read: you have to stare at them for several seconds to be able to "interpret" what they represent. It is just no longer simple and intuitive, with easy access to headlines and weather. It's cumbersome, hideous, and I am probably just going to uninstall it and find a different app now.

The new app is okay for news today (not last night or yesterday). Searching for a recent previous story on the new app is impossible (no search bar). It’s an app for _right now_, but for those of us with families and work schedules, get your news elsewhere to stay informed. At least we have other options in the Denver area.

Unusable “Update”
I don’t know what the impetus was behind this terrible redesign of the previously perfectly adequate 9News app, but I’m deleting this version from my phone entirely. Going Downhill
What happened to written news? The old app wasn’t great as far as layout and functionality go, but at least it had written news. This new app seems to mostly have short video clips. If I’m just checking the news from the office, I don’t want video clips playing, I just want to quickly read it and move on without distracting everyone around me. The new app is pretty useless in this new primarily video format. I really hope this gets fixed, or I will have to find a new primary source for my local news.

Gave it another try, but NO thanks
I like the 9News folks in general. But I’ve tried using the 9News app several times on various devices, and I’m thoroughly unimpressed with the lousy performance. It takes an ungodly amount of time to load — since computers became a thing, 2 seconds has been considered the threshold for “unacceptable response time,” and the 9News app is so bad, I’m off making another cup of coffee before it’s usable.
