Does not work at all
I downloaded the Lite version of this app and it worked. Unfortunately, it only allows control of one DTv box at a time.
I downloaded this app to control multiple DTv boxes, and this app does not scan the network successfully.
I tried to manually add the addresses and although it seems to connect (no errors), no remote appears.
I went to app settings to select “allow manual”, and that makes the “manual” tab disappear entirely!!
I will rewrite a review if the problems are fixed.

It works but I miss the option to flip the phone in a 16x9 display and the remote would flip with it giving you more techy look. I’d prefer the tech look than the “DUMB” genie remote look.

Frustrating
I’ve had this app, off and on, for a few years now, in the beginning it worked great! Found all of my DirecTv boxes then there was an Apple update, think it was the iOs11 or ?? and it stopped working completely, so I deleted it and after a few months, guess they fixed the issue and again, worked great, seamlessly. BUT here we are again, another Apple update, what are we on now iOs 14?? But again, app stopped connecting and can’t find ANY receivers no matter how many times I delete and reinstall or try to manually connect, still says I’m not on “network” but clearly I am. Gonna delete and hope

Big Step Backwards
Used to work fabulous with only hardcoded ip addresses. Now it is terrible. Discovery doesn’t usually work. App forgets my hardcoded ip addresses. If the system is off and I try to add back a hard coded address, it doesn’t work. Because of all this, the app is worthless unless the directv Box is already turned on. This was a great alternative to DirecTV’s uselessly bloated app. Please put it back the way it was!

More Bugs Than A Jungle Swamp
Version 5.0 is a bug’s paradise. It may or may not work on any given day. Don’t be fooled into thinking that if the free version works then this paid version will work. While the free version has limited functionality, at least it actually works. This paid version is at best a crap shoot not worth the gamble. It may accept manual entry of a reciever’s IP address when auto-discovery doesn’t work, however it usually fails to retain the address. The app’s HELP menu is currently a blank page that doesn’t even provide an email address to contact the developer to report issues. How convenient! Re

Update is flawed
Had used the previous version for over 5 years and worked flawlessly (over multiple networks in different locations). Now, when it actually connects to receivers it works great. If you manually enter ip addresses it will forget them (aggravating to have to enter all ip addresses every time I open the app) especially if you leave the network and get on another network (work vs home). It never “discovers” more than a couple of receivers, most of the time only one. I keep waiting for a fix because I used to love this app!

App worked flawlessly. The latest updates makes it useless. 3 Directv receivers in my house, all online. The app on my iPhone discovers 0. The app on my iPad Pro finds 1 and the remote has now been changed to resemble nothing close to my DirectV remote Thanks for the updates]. You should have left it alone. Useless now.
Update: Never could find the settings link. Finally read a review. Go into your Settings> Find the app and select ‘allow manual setup’. Now set up your Directv receivers. Great. It works again.

Broken in latest update
This app used to work flawlessly, instantly connecting to my online DTV receivers. Now the app never finds my receiver upon opening. It seems to find them after 3 or 4 “refreshes,” but this is a marked and unwelcome change from the prior version. Yes it now looks like the newest generation of DTV remote, but, honestly, who cares? Function trumps form every time and the app no longer works nearly as well as prior versions. I can not recommend it until functionality is restored.

New version doesn’t work for me
Worked just fine before the new version. I had the IP addresses of the receivers on my network set to static so I never had any problem. The new version will not find my receivers 99% of the time and it won’t remember them for next time when it does manage to find them. I used to use it on a regular basis, but now it is worthless.
Update: I just discovered you can go into the settings in the settings app and enable manual configuration. Now I can enter my IP address and use the app.

Great before the 5.0 update
I am a commercial AV installer and have downloaded this app over a hundred times at different locations. It is ideal when you have multiple receivers in a rack for a switcher system or want to control multiple receivers in a venue from one central location. The key is to connect the receivers to your network with Ethernet cables or a deca unit via coax, and make sure your iPhone/iPad is on the same network WiFi. I also suggest that you assign static IP addresses to your receivers by going to advanced IP settings and typing over the receivers last IP address digits (with the same or new digits)

Works great even without remote
Some reviews seem to think you can't use this without a remote bc you need to get the IP address of your receiver to set it up. You can easily look at your router for a list of IPs connected to it. Just go down the list. I tried the first 2. 3rd time was a charm. Simple setup. Was exactly what I needed to watch DirecTV without my remote.

Must Have App
This app is so convenient! It works like a charm! The reviews that pointed out that you need a specific IP Address really helped. I knew that my IP Address was capable, so I did not bother downloading the free "lite" version. I don't even bother looking for the remote when my kids misplace it. I just use my phone app for all four of our receivers. Now, I just need to find an app that will control the volume for each type of TV that we have.

Best direcTv iPhone app by far. The new interface and functionality are great! Is simple to use now that it looks exactly like the remote. Love that I can now see what's on & what's next for my bookmarked channels.
Another review says it doesn't work on latest direcTv platform 2.0.24. That was either before an update or they can't read to set it up right. It works fine for me on latest platform.
People wanting volume control: the iPhone has no infrared transmitter. No app can control your TV without that! There's a gag app

Looks great on my iPhone Plus
I love this app! Works fantastic even when the regular remote is acting up. For 99 cents it's cheaper than buying batteries for the old remote. I download the free version first just to make sure my equipment was compatible. It took me about 90 seconds to configure it for my house. I don't know why people moan and groan when they tell you to try the free version first? Looking forward to more versions - they seem to update it pretty frequently.

With 4 kids, we were always hunting for lost remotes. No more! I downloaded the free lite version first to make sure our receiver was compatible, per the instructions. So far I'm happy with this app, I have noticed some problems under the bookmark section it doesn't find the channel you are looking for, and then the keyboard won't go away so you have to restart the app. But other than that everything seems good! I like the help section it really helped me set this remote up to work with my tv!

Shared App Now Works
UPDATE: I wrote to the developer of this app. They were quick to respond and fix the family share downloading. I have up the star rating to 5 stars. Best app for Direct TV I've used. I use it much more than the regular DTV remote.
I really like this Direct TV remote. I don't have to have my phone in the exact right place for it to work like with the Direct TV remote. Has glitches
It works but only sometimes. It says check that you IP address hasn't changed and it hasn't. And that your connected to your own wifi network, which we are and it still says that it can't connect. I close the app and reload it and nothing helps. It's very frustrating! I use this app because my regular remote broke and rather than pay to replace it and for shipping which is outrageous I use this. Please fix this! It's really annoying
