What’s New Version 4.4.1

Fixes - Fixed an issue where some supported documents were marked as ineligible - Added some missing VoiceOver tags in User Guides

Description

Mobile Passport Control (MPC) is an official application created by U.S. Customs and Border Protection that streamlines your CBP inspection process at select U.S. entry locations. Simply complete your travel information, answer CBP inspection questions, capture a photo of yourself and of each member of your group, and follow the instructions provided on your receipt. Important Notes: • MPC does not replace your passport; your passport will still be required for travel. • MPC is only available at supported CBP entry locations. • MPC is a voluntary program which can be used by U.S. Citizens, certain Canadian Citizen Visitors, Lawful Permanent Residents, and returning Visa Waiver Program applicants with an approved ESTA. More information regarding eligibility and supported CBP entry locations can be found on our website: https://www.cbp.gov/travel/us-citizens/mobile-passport-control MPC can be used in 6 simple steps: 1. Create a primary profile to save your travel documents and biographic information. You can add and save additional eligible people to the MPC app so that you can submit together from one device. Your information will be securely stored on your device to be used for future travel. 2. Select your CBP port of entry, terminal (if applicable), and add up to 11 additional members of your group to include in your submission. 3. Answer CBP inspection questions and certify the truthfulness and accuracy of your answers. 4. Upon arriving at your selected port of entry, tap the “Yes, Submit Now” button. You will be asked to capture a clear and unobstructed photo of yourself and of each other person that you included in your submission. 5. Once your submission is processed, CBP will send a virtual receipt back to your device. Follow the instructions on your receipt and be prepared to present your passport and other relevant travel documents. 6. The CBP Officer will complete the inspection. If further information is required, the CBP Officer will let you know. Please note: The CBP Officer may ask to capture an additional photo of you or your group members for verification.

OK, could use better in-app explanations
Mostly good, but a few things need work. When my phone was in airplane mode, the app said that the travel documents for everyone in the group were invalid. That was untrue. The problem was that the app requires Internet access to function. Once that access was available, the same travel documents were listed as valid. The error message does not reflect the actual issue, hence it is misleading. Lack of internet access does not invalidate a passport. At the end of submission, an unexplained error came up, saying that we could not continue. However, after acknowledging that, the submission in t

MPC App
We have come back from foreign travel twice since getting the MPC App and have loved the ease of use and short lines. Getting through Customs in minutes rather than what on some occasions have been well over an hour.

Quick and easy
An outstanding convenience. Fill out the mobile app before you begin your trip. Once at the airport to return to the U.S. review and verify the saved information, enter your passport number, take a picture and submit it. Sitting in the terminal at St. Maarten the entire process took me no more than 60 seconds and this is the first time I’ve used it. BZ

Wow
As an older guy with mobility issues this was a big help after an 11 hour flight. Whizzed right through. Thanks to the app they greeted me by name as I walked through. Let’s give our Homeland Security crew a big thanks for making this so much easier.

Not intuitive
It appears the designer thought everyone knows exactly what they know. I can’t Assume anything on official documents so when I open this thing up it asks me to “Scan Document”. Ok. What document? Travel meaning Ticket? Meaning Passport? Meaning Green card? I guess Travel Document means something to you. To me it means boarding pass. Airline ticket. Passport. Etc. why not be clear? And what is commercial equipment? Do I have to Google the meaning to be sure I am answering correctly. I have a laptop. An iPad. A razor. This is all COMMERCIAL to me a retired old man. Not helpful at all
This app was recommended to help speed entry into the U.S. so I gave it a try. Even though instructions were not particularly clear, I entered all my info including my passport. As I came to the passport control area, I took my photo as the app instructed. Absolute waste of time. I had to wait in the same line and was told it was just faster to do it the regular way. Now for no reason, I gave the government access to my phone for a week. Deleted it as soon as I got home.

Interesting idea, but ineffective
I have tried to use this app a couple of times. The first time a year or so ago, I was unable to use it as it was asking for the arrivals terminal and gate. By the time I knew, I was at customs so just went through the normal process. The updated app seems to have dropped some of the questions about arrivals terminal so I thought I could use it before departure. I prefilled everything I could before leaving the hotel, then followed the instructions to submit at the airport. The airport had US customs and ag inspection, and we cleared both before the app finished submitting the declarations.

Fastest way through customs
I find this app to be awesome. In less than two minutes I can process my entry on the app and just walk right into what is always a very short line of other people using this service. I literally skip over dozens if not hundreds of people at times with this app as I go through customs. It is simple to use and always works well. Highly highly recommended.

The Best
I landed at LAX yesterday and saw a long line. I did a quick Google search and found out about MPC. I downloaded it, scanned my documents, got in line, and was out in less than 5 minutes. Otherwise, the standard line would have taken more than an hour and a half.

Useless app bc no airports use!
I have had this app for ages (even had the previous app Mobile Passport by Airside). It used to work wonderfully at all points of entry. But over the last few yrs none of the airports where I have reentered the US (even those that appear on the MPC website/app as offering special lines for MPC users) use this service. I have even asked immigration officers about it as sometimes they still have signs up at the airport but all of them have told me they no longer use it. Why come out with this great app if none of the airports will use it?!

One of the best designed apps I’ve used in a while
Just used this while coming home from Germany, and was through the line in 5 minutes, including the photo step before getting in line. Just had to tell them what I was declaring since I said I had more than the duty free limit and I was done. I was surprised how well designed the app is, it feels like it’s just a system feature with how well it integrates with iOS design guidelines.

Fast and Easy
I’ve been using this app for over 10 years now. The ease of use and the speed it brings to go through customs is incredible. Glad I found out about this app. Thanks for making it free.

The only way to re-enter!
MPC it’s super easy to use, and can be completed hours before your flight, or as you’re entering the airport. I completed mine while walking to baggage claim. I used it once before, and will continue to use it in the future wherever it’s available! Why standing in a long Custom line if you can shorten that process for you and your whole travel party. And it cost nothing!

The Red Carpet
It’s like having a “friend” at immigration. Simple, easy, efficient and unbelievably fast, anyone who travels internationally should consider using it for entry back home. Keeps the wait time to a minimum and makes the entire customs and immigration process seem almost easy. As a frequent world traveler, this app and global entry are the best innovations at CPB since The biometric passport. Well done.

Exceptionally well built app that’s so helpful!
The MPC app is extremely well built and clearly designed as a native iOS experience, using familiar components that make it feel so smooth. It does an excellent job guiding me through what would otherwise be a complex customs process, breaking everything into clear, easy-to-follow steps. The clean UI and thoughtful flow make the experience straightforward from start to finish, and it genuinely turns an often frustrating part of travel into something quick and painless.

Awesome
Very easy and straight forward to use. I was able to skip the general line and sometimes beat the Global Entry. 3 easy steps. 1. Agree 2. Answer few questions 3. Summit. After you summoned you have 3 hours before it expire and then you would have to summit a new form.

So Quick, Such a Relief
Nothing is better than skipping a long line with MPC. I’m so glad I read the signs one day after a long flight from Madrid to USA. I happened to have a friend waiting to pick me up with a delayed flight…her wait would have been much longer had I not used MPC. It was a breeze—highly recommend

Easy, Convenient and a Time Saver
This app is a great way to save time by avoiding unnecessary waiting in line. Just submit your form while landing, and all of your information will be processed by Customs before you get to the Mobile Passport Control line. I love the convenience of having the option to use this method.

Very Bad First Impression
First time using MPC. We are both US citizens advised MPC would expedite us through US customs. Agent at the entrance to the MPC line advised us it would be faster going through regular customs. But we didn’t believe her. It took us 40 minutes in a line of only about 20 with only two custom agents at the gates. We were very disappointed & disillusioned with what was supposed to be a faster way to clear customs. We will be very reluctant to use MPS again. Old saying, “You only get one chance at a first impression.”

Great app!
Only a couple of issues are keeping this app from five stars (e.g., issues taking a picture of a passport, having stable cell AND location services before you get to the Customs Area so the app works as advertised), but this app is for sure the best government owned & operated app. It did feel a little weird when I walked by ~100 people who did not use the app, but there were adverts all over the passenger terminal practically begging passengers to use this app. Thank you for the CBP MPC app!

Very easy to use and saved time
We flew into PHL from Venice the other day and sailed through customs. As we went to the MPC line we saw many people lined up in the regular customs line. It took less than 3 minutes for us to go through.

Camera won’t work after update
I have loved MPC in the past and haven’t had much issues using the app before. It’s quick and convenient. However, after the latest update the camera does not work and only shows a black screen. Even when I flip the camera, it still shows a black screen. Hoping this is fixed quickly. I tried reinstalling the app but the camera doesn’t work to scan passports either.

Wonderful
I was flying into Canada after a year and saw the MPC app option. I really didn’t know what it was, but I clicked on it and it explained that it would be easier to go to the USA with this. So I downloaded it and when I got to the airport security lines there were hundreds of people in line to go through. But the MPC line was empty. What a wonderful experience.

Fussy about where you submit
At a gas station near the Calgary airport I tried to submit. It said something like “are you really at the airport?” so I did not submit. Then I tried to submit while in the airport just before going through customs. It got stuck in a processing state. The airport was very uncrowded. I went in the ‘mobile passport control’ line. The CBP guy who dealt with me chided me for going in that line, since my submission had not gone through. There are often HUGE lines for people who did not use the MPC app, with a long wait, and I would have ‘budged’. In summary, I tried to use it once, and it didn’t w

As good as Global Entry!
Lost my GE because of DUI, not sure why it mattered, I was honest about it; appealed and lost. I often make it through customs faster than my wife using GE, my lines are shorter. Super easy to use, hardest step is finding out which terminal your plane is landing in. Flight crew does not always know until mid-flight.

Amazing
My family of 5 flew into DFW from Cabo. The regular Customs line had 2 flights worth of passengers. The Global entry line had about 15 passengers. The MPC had my family of 5 and a few others who were quickly scanned and went on out! I love this.

JFK Arrival
App was good, very easy to use. Customs at JFK did not coordinate well with MPC. Instead of waiting on a long line that was indicated by the app and wasn’t moving AT ALL, we went back to the regular US Citizens line a went right through with ease. Just took a picture and we were verified … smooth. But, I wasted 20 mins trying to work with the MPC app. Was it the app, or the homeland people at JFK????

App is good CPB doesn’t acknowledge it
So traveling to the US and downloaded the app. I completed the forms and took the photos. I got the CPB officer and told them I had done MPC and he said “yeah whatever” and took additional photos and asked all of the questions I answered in the app. This is despite the signs in the waiting line telling people to download the app. I can only assume this is some sort of data accumulation program for the government and the app provides no benefit to the traveler getting through security.

50/50 lanes are open
The airport is great and it gets you through faster. However, when the lanes are only open about 50% of the time when you get to the airport and you end up having to wait in line with everybody else, what’s the point of having the mobile passport, I came through Miami about a month ago and no passport was there and they had three folks working mobile passport and global entry and they took every single global entry person before they took one mobile passport person.
