What’s New Version 2.1.5

Bug fixes and improvements.

Description

Play the digital adaptation of the beloved tabletop board game. Root is a game of adventure and war where 2 to 4 players battle for control of a vast wilderness. The nefarious Marquise de Cat has seized the great woodland, intent on harvesting its riches. Under her rule, the many creatures of the forest have banded together. This Alliance will seek to strengthen its resources and subvert the rule of Cats. In this effort, the Alliance may enlist the help of the wandering Vagabonds who are able to move through the more dangerous woodland paths. Though some may sympathize with the Alliance’s hopes and dreams, these wanderers are old enough to remember the great birds of prey who once controlled the woods. Meanwhile, at the edge of the region, the proud, squabbling Eyrie have found a new commander who they hope will lead their faction to resume their ancient birthright. The stage is set for a contest that will decide the fate of the great woodland. It is up to the players to decide which group will ultimately take root.

Bug Fixes General Fixes & Improvements * Marquise can now select any clearing for their first Homeland on the Mountain map. * Marquise no longer counts spent wood for Rule using Soup Kitchens. * Vagabond “Anytime in Birdsong” cards can now be used before Refresh and Slip as intended. * Murine Brokers no longer occasionally grant multiple cards to opponents. * Guessing Exposure incorrectly no longer lets Eyrie skip adding to the Decree. * Correct Expose guesses no longer reveal the card to other players. * Fixed an issue where Marquise was unable to choose all legal homeland locations on the Lake Map. * Keepers in Iron can now choose homeland clearings correctly on the Winter Map. * Improved several areas where AI made strange choices. * Fixed many issues involving the Undo function. * Improved certain areas of the Tutorial which caused confusion. Visual & Animation * Dominance animations now show the correct faction backgrounds for the Duchy and the Corvids. * Some assets on the Lake map no longer overlap buildings and tokens. * Warriors no longer appear inside the tower on the Mountain map. * Clouds in Strategic View now blend smoothly. * Vagabond “Quest Completed” animation now plays as expected. * Keepers in Iron relics and Vagabonds no longer cause trees to disappear on the Winter Map. * Trees no longer clip through the Marquise Keep when a Favor card removes the token. * The Duchy Citadel icon now appears the same as it does in tabletop. User Interface & Experience (UI/UX) * Available faction icons are larger and easier to select on large-UI mobile devices. * Some HUD elements are no longer off-screen on some dvices. * Selecting Bird cards now works correctly when suited cards are also available for the Keepers in Iron on mobile devices. * Vagabond icons now display correctly when using the Ferry on the Lake map in Strategic View. * Expose now highlights the correct clearing in Strategic View. * Wood highlights for Marquise are more visible in Strategic View. * Vagabond targeting to strike a Keepers In Iron relic is now clear when multiple relics are stacked. * A confirmation now appears when ending the Vagabond’s turn with actions remaining. * Improved expanded rules for Marquise wood cost visualization. * Field Hospitals prompts no longer block Riverfolk purchase prompts at turn start. * Winter map icons no longer cover neighboring clearing costs. Great board game to app adaptation!
When I get the itch to play game root but don’t have the time or availability to get with people in person and play it’s fun to play this with people online or even against bots. It also helps you to learn the rules of root very quickly and effectively.

An excellent interpretation of the world’s greatest game!
Root is one of my favourite games, and I love this digital version! Just being able to play Root at any time even if nobody in the area wants to play is incredible! The art is true to the original (with 3D versions of buildings and warriors) the BGM is perfect for the game. Perfect in every way! But one thing would make this 10 times better. If there was a code in the boxes of physical expansions for the digital version of them, then you can take all your physical expansions into the digital version! I just got the Marauders expansion physical and love the Lord of the Hundreds, but I haven’t

Facilité d’apprentissage!
Ce qui rend Roots difficile à maîtriser c’est l’asymétrie des personnages. Les tutoriels sont parfaits pour apprendre les différents personnages et facilite l’apprentissage!

Awesome adaptation of the beloved board game
Great game all around, but I do have feature requests: - Changing the timing of the VP increase to sync with the animations. Too many times have I expected points to increase when they were already increased. - Adding a way to know what the clockwork adversary are doing so that it is easier to learn their algorithms.

One of the greats !
Faithful adaptation of the wonderful board game! Online play, campaigns and tutorials are great :) Small suggestion for pass and play: turn recap at the beginning of a player’s turn (as already implemented in async games) would make local play leagues better. The actual board game is the best option for local play of course, but the ability to save / play on the go makes pass and play appealing in theory. No turn recap makes it hard to follow though. PS: AI is awful but clockwork can make up for it

Great way to learn the game rules and practice
Game looks and plays well. Easy to play on an iPhone. I love most that I can practice different factions on the app. I purchased all of the dlc as well. Has a fun tutorial mode for each character and then some fun challenges. Looking forward to enjoying the app more.

Smooth Platform, Wonderful Game
I’ve been playing ROOT for years and this digital adaptation is spot on with both rules, gameplay and excitement. Soundtrack is one of my favourites too. The AI isn’t the best but Clockwork Opponents are a real challenge and the Pass and Play is great for when my girlfriend and I when we travel. 10/10 thanks for this Dire Wolf!

Another direwolf ai disaster
The game is a good implementation of a perfect tabletop game. However, the developer- direwolf seriously has to improve their ai programming skill. Ai is really bad

DEVS READ PLEASE
Id like to start off by saying I love Root and am glad to see the expansion here, love the hard work and addition. But at the current state of multiplayer, the UI and lobby mechanics are heavily behind. Id suggest downloading a copy of “Through the Ages” on the app store. Some quick to list additions that would greatly improve quality of life: - Turn Timers, reserve time, adjustable when creating a game, - lobby titles, for example (new players only) Or (experienced fast play only) - In lobby chatting - The ability to change apps on the phone without the game disconnecting These are

Root Mobile
I fell in love with Root as a board game so it was natural to want the mobile version! They’ve done an amazing job with the animations keeping the artistic style of the board game! Sadly they don’t have the river folk or underground expansions added to the mobile game yet, hopefully that changes soon! Definitely worth the money to buy the game!!

Good game, some bugs
Root is a great board game, and clearly a lot of love went into this video game adaptation of it. I am currently trying my first online match with a friend, though, and am encountering some pretty annoying bugs that I hope get fixed. When my turn ends and I leave the app, upon returning to take my next turn, the app is often frozen and I have to force quit or wait for it to crash. When I do get back into the match, I don’t see my opponent’s move, just the end state of it. When I’ve tried to (hopefully) get around this by choosing “save and quit” after my turn to return to the main menu, I’m

Great but buggy
Async notifications always end up with a locked up game for me. Forcing me to quit and rejoin. It’s an annoyance but it seems to me there are some issues that would be fixed that would go a long way.

Major issue with the Vagabond
I love the app and would give it 5 stars but.... in both my online games we are stuck during the combat sequence with the vagabond faction. No players can do anything to “unstuck” the game. Please fix this issue. I will update my review once the issue is fixed :)
