A lot of people are complaining about ads and subscriptions from sources. That’s not in FB’s control, their job is to find all these stories across the web and just gather them in one place for ease of reading or collecting. That being said, I’ve noticed a distinct trend towards right wing/sports/celebrity content and away from unbiased sources on more serious topics like science, finance, real politics, etc. Also, the app will heat up your phone like an oven and kill your battery with a quickness.
