Edit: it is extremely difficult to highlight any passage. I have to hold down the start of the passage for a long time and then most of the time the page turns by itself and I have to go back and try again and again. The Apple Books app is far more responsive and user friendly. This used to be my favorite app. Since this newest update, it is has diminished in my opinion. 1) the notes section is harder to use. In order to delete a bookmark, I have to first go to that page and manually remove it. 2) in X-ray mode, the notes are more difficult to read. The previous version made it possible
