My first App Store review
I’ve never felt compelled to write a review for an app - but this one I feel like I need to in order to provide a warning to users… there is no clean ending, answers, etc. That said, within 10 mins I was able to figure out the majority of the storyline. If you’re a big true crime person, this will be a bit predictable for you.

This game no doubt took some time to make and it was a fun concept. However after a while it just got old. You can only see the first five entries of the search term so if you get something with 6 or more then you have to narrow it down. There were a series of questions that were just yes and no answers and that was all that was there and I have no idea how anyone got to watch those. So many of the clips were just pointless clips to watch. As others have said, there is no real ending. I wish I read the reviews before spending money but I didn’t want to come across spoilers. This could’ve been really cool but there is no closure. In the end, you’ve watched a bunch of videos and come up with an idea of what happened but you don’t get the satisfaction of finding out for sure.

As a big adventure game fan I was quite looking forward to playing this. I think perhaps this game has been too hyped up. The writing and story are very hacky, and I think people must have just been so dazzled by the presentation and nonlinear unfolding that they assumed the writing was good? It’s not, it’s very soap opera-y and has nothing much to say about the themes it tries to evoke. The character at one point says “aren’t these all just stories anyways?” which I think we’re meant to consider some kind of profound thesis statement for the game? Awful glitch
Maybe I did something wrong but how the game works is you write something and it will show you the first videos first. Too bad there’s a collection of video’s near the end where they all say yes but they won’t show since it shows the first and too bad there is literally no other word in that sentence. But that’s all they say so literally no matter what you do, you will never win. I think this a glitch only on mobile since writing “yes” doe’s nothing on mobile. I wasted 4 hours on a game you can’t even @00%

Unplayable on iPad Pro using Smart Keyboard folio
Bought this game about 3 years ago and still waiting for support for proper landscape orientation - listed on the official website as a “known issue” and “a fix is in progress” for the last 3 years. Had to write a review. No perks to doing so like other games. I finished yesterday but I won’t really be done with this story for the rest of my life. People have been debating different pieces of it for five years. Yes the setup is unconventional in a world where everyone is used to being inundated with tasks and puzzles, but the simplicity of it only increases the mental challenge. Try it!

Limited functionality
Seriously, why can’t I flip the screen? The whole reason I bought this game at all was so I could use with with my iPad keyboard (so I’m not struggling to tap each letter one...by...one on my touch screen), but evidently the game won’t rotate 180 degrees, even with my screen rotate unlocked. VERY basic function that just isn’t there. I wish I could refund this.

Best of the genrr
There aren’t many games like this. The developer came up with a second game with more characters but it was less involving and the story line was weaker, I thought. I really liked this game, I liked the storyline, the writing, the acting. I wish it were part of a series with the same format, one person of interest being interviewed and you comb through the fragments to piece together the truth. I really had a lot of fun with this one. iPad Keyboard Issue
While using my iPad keyboard (apple’s keyboard - not 3rd party), the app launches upside down and nothing can be done to change it. Would appreciate a fix for this, but seeing how it hasn’t had any updates in 4 years, I’m not hopeful.

Don’t drag the windows off screen

Amazing Non-Linear Storytelling, but issue with screen rotation (known issue, fix in the works)
It’s a bummer that the rotation is locked when playing this game — when using an iPad Pro with a folio keyboard, the game displays upside down. I was really looking forward to being immersed by the game’s retro computer interface, but I would have to use the onscreen keyboard, kinda spoils the fun a bit. I still would strongly recommend getting Her Story if you don’t intend to use it with the Folio Keyboard for your iPad Pro. UPDATE: This is a known issue and a fix is in the works

How the heck did this app win any awards?? It’s boring as heck! All you do is watch videos! There’s no actual game play! They could have done so much more with this to turn it into an actual GAME! Worst part of all....the developers are misleading in their discription of the app!! Making you think it’s an actual murder mystery game you can play. All lies. Very disappointed! I agree with a lot of folks that the concept is good but the execution is a miss. Firstly, this is nothing more than a search engine with limited results. Lastly, their is no payoff to the story and it doesn’t go anywhere. Sometimes simplicity is the best thing, but for this “game” it’s simply a miss.

I liked the mysterious nature of the game, but there is NO definite ending. You are never told anything or shown that you got to the end of the case or you have watched all the relevant videos. I kept waiting for something to tell me I solved it, but nothing ever did. It was only after I went online to chat groups that I figured out that I had solved the story literally the first day I started to play. I do not like games that have no sense of accomplishment or finality. The idea of the game is clever. But it’s ridiculous to not give it an ending or definite story. It’s like the makers want it
