Definitely worth it!
I have had this app on my laptop since 2023, and while I didn’t use it for a bit, when I started really using it, this past December, it just totally took me by storm. I officially bought the iPhone app in mid-December, and I have to say, I love the seamless syncing to iCloud, and I love the auto-saving feature, as well. I have used this app every day for almost the last six months, and the only thing I regret, is not using it, sooner. Other than that, I regret nothing. Though, there are two changes I would like to be made, such as the “underline” font possibly being added, in addition to bold

It’s hard to overstate just how good this app is. Its design and execution are excellent, as is its integration with iPadOS. I first purchased iA Writer (“Classic”) in 2012, and later this current updated / upgraded version. I’ve tried a few other writing apps that attempt to do what Writer does, but none have been as good.

This is a nice word processor. Difficult font size Control. Kind of buried under the print or whatever function. I eventually found that with the help with my son. And I haven’t found if there’s a different font available this will do … looks kind of like a typewriter font. What I have been searching for.
When Microsoft started pushing copilot and pages turned freemium, I realized I needed to find somewhere safer to keep my personal journal. Thank you for creating this app. Syncing between my Mac and iPhone is seamless. Writing is simple and guides for how to use markdown were incredibly helpful. There are many things I enjoy about this app. The fact that it is a one time purchase and not a subscription is the cherry on top. There are some really great features to this app. Once I figured it out, the library is easy to use. It’s a generally intuitive and minimal interface which lets me do what I need to do without a lot of fuss. On the other hand, there are some not so great features too. Once you type enough text to fill your window, I can’t find a way to make the text I’m working on appear anywhere except the very bottom of the screen. Dropbox folders stopped working
My main location in the "Library" is a Dropbox folder. After today's update to 7.3.1, the folder disappeared and I had to re-add it. Improving iA Writer for Writers
To get this app to be the ideal app for writers, it really needs an "index card view”, similar to Scrivener’s Cork Board or Notion’s Gallery so we can rearrange chapters, scenes, or comedy bits with simple drag-and-drop, like flash cards. This will allow us to zoom out and see the structure and flow of our work. It will allow this app to be THE app for writers everywhere. Edit: we also need a Library button so we can easily go back instead of having to tap the back button on many folders. It’s exhausting and makes me not want to use the app.

I like the file browser aka organizer in this app. but it's not as easy to use as it should be because the application ignores the user's font size preferences in the system settings. When I pointed out this glaring omission for the MacOS app, their support gaslit me, claiming they follow Apple's conventions and using Notes as an example. There are two standard functions this markdown editor does not provide; Table of Contents links do not work with exported PDFs and no Mermaid support. The exported PDF ToC (generated using the {{TOC}} string) sees that the links are present, but are not linked to the sections within the document. So the mouse goes from standard pointer to click to open, but when pressed nothing happens. When it comes to Mermaid support, one might say Mermaid is not Markdown, but Mermaid is so ubiquitous with Markdown it has beccome common place.
