What’s New Version 1.0.6

v1.0.6- FIRST LIGHT. Your first sixty seconds with Flocklight are no longer a briefing, they're a wake-up call. The onboarding has been rebuilt as a five-act short film about the one thing that makes this real: you. And under the hood, the app is faster, steadier, and no longer crashes when you arm 24/7 tracking. A cold open, not a tutorial: The old info screens are gone. In their place, a cinematic sequence that starts with a camera logging your plate this morning, reconstructs one ordinary day from capture data, scrubs the map toward a near-solid surveillance state, then flips the power, thousands of amber lights igniting across the dark as every known camera gets exposed. The final screen turns location access into your first act of resistance: turn on the light. Crash on launch, fixed: Granting "Always" location to enable full 24/7 coverage could kill the app on the spot, and then on every launch after. Root cause found and closed: background tracking is now registered correctly and armed safely after the app is up, with a startup safety net that makes the crash impossible. Your 24/7 exposure log was never at risk and keeps running. Smoother everywhere: Hidden tabs used to keep animating behind the screen you were looking at. Scan lines, radar sweeps, live tickers all burning frames out of view. Now every looping effect sleeps the instant its tab is hidden and wakes when you return. The map only redraws the pins that actually changed instead of the whole field, and your GPS checks only the cameras genuinely near you instead of scanning the entire database. Launch is quicker, scrolling is cleaner, the stutter is gone. A sharper map: The United States outline on the onboarding scale-and-ignition screens was redrawn from real national boundary data. Accurate coastlines, the Great Lakes, Florida, Texas, correct proportions. Plus stability passes across the board. Turn on the light.

Description

Flocklight is a civic transparency tool that maps the automated license plate readers (ALPRs) watching public spaces in American cities. The grid of license plate cameras around you was deployed quietly, with little public debate and few transparency requirements. Flocklight aggregates publicly available data from OpenStreetMap, DeFlock, and public-records sources to put every reported ALPR on a single tactical map, so the people being watched can see who's watching. KEY FEATURES TACTICAL MAP: Every reported ALPR in your area, with operator attribution (Flock Safety, government, HOA, business, unknown) and visual indication of community-verified vs. public-records sources. PERIMETER VIEW: See every camera within a 2-mile radius of your location, sorted by distance and bearing. Tap any pin for the full operator dossier. OPERATOR DOSSIER: Detailed profile for every camera: type, source, intersection, operator identity, data-sharing posture, policy status, and cross-references to partner transparency projects (DeFlock, LPR Maps, DontGetFlocked, GhostPlate). TRANSPARENCY INDEX: 743 US cities graded A through F on five policy and oversight metrics. See how your city ranks, what drives its grade, and how it's changed over time. SIGNAL FEED: Curated stream of ALPR-related news, court rulings, council votes, and policy changes. Filtered for signal, not noise. PLATE CHECK: Cross-reference a license plate against partner transparency projects to see what other community indices have documented. REPORT A CAMERA: Found a camera not on the map? Submit a report with photo and location. Approved reports go into the Flocklight community registry. ANONYMOUS BY DESIGN: Sign in with Apple to claim an anonymous operator callsign. Your real name and email stay private. Reports and watchlist sync across devices without tying anything to your identity. FLOCKLIGHT PRO Upgrade to Pro for the operator-grade transparency console: EXPOSURE DASHBOARD: Track how many ALPRs have captured you over the past 7 days, 30 days, or lifetime. CITY WATCHLIST: Pin cities, get notified when grades shift, and see policy votes as they happen. COMPARE CITIES: Side-by-side scoring, camera density, and agency-sharing breakdown. UNLIMITED PROXIMITY ALERTS: Get real-time alerts as cameras come into range. Configurable radius, operator class filtering, quiet hours, and refire debounce. WEEKLY TACTICAL BRIEFING: Monday digest of new cameras, policy changes, and court rulings. - Monthly: $4.99 / month - Yearly: $29.99 / year + includes 7-day free trial WHY THIS EXISTS Mass automated surveillance is being deployed in American neighborhoods faster than the public can audit it. Flocklight is built so you don't need a FOIA lawyer to know what's pointed at your street. All camera data is publicly sourced. We do not track individuals, and we do not store license plate reads. Currently focused on US cities with population over 50,000. v1.0.5- ALWAYS ON. The exposure engine has been rebuilt from the ground up. Pro tracking is now a true 24/7 flight recorder: every camera you pass is logged the instant it happens. Awake, backgrounded, or with the app closed. If a camera captured you, you now have the receipt. Exposure tracking rebuilt: Camera awareness now follows you, not your map. Coverage downloads around your actual position wherever you go, so passes register in places you never browsed. Background wake-ups identify the exact camera, type, operator, and all. A log that can't be erased: Every pass is written to a permanent on-device record the moment it's captured, with 90 days of history that survives restarts, updates, and app closes. Your log never leaves your phone. Tracking status, no guesswork: The Exposure dashboard now shows exactly what the recorder needs. Location permission level, coverage state, and what to flip if anything is off. The weekly briefing is honest about what was and wasn't being tracked. First-install fix: The map tutorial no longer blocks the bottom tabs on a fresh install. Tabs respond immediately, and the tutorial now carries a visible skip. Speed pass: The map only draws what changed instead of redrawing every pin. GPS checks only the cameras actually near you instead of scanning the full database. Launch is faster, scrolling is smoother, the stutter is gone. New: 3-day free trial on the monthly plan. See your first week of receipts before you pay a cent. Every pass. On the record.

v1.0.4- FULL SPECTRUM. The map stops pointing at cameras and starts pointing at the people who run them. Seven new systems turn every pin into a full accountability file. Who operates it, what they do with your plate, whether their contract is even still alive, and what your rights are where you stand. Sourced and dated, never invented. Agency Governance: Every camera now names the operator behind it, how long they hold your plate, what uses are banned, how often it's searched, and whether it feeds the national lookup network tied to immigration searches. Each line carries a tappable, dated source, or an honest "not disclosed." A red flag marks any camera wired into the nationwide net. Agencies Directory: Browse the surveillance state by operator, not just by map. Every police force, sheriff, HOA, and business gets its own dossier. Full camera roster, data posture, cities covered, and one-tap actions to email officials or file a records request. Contract Tracker: Every city now carries a status: Active, Contested, Canceled, or Unknown, sourced to real council votes and coverage. A national tracker lists the wave: who's pulling the plug, who's fighting it, who's still running it. Pin a city and get pinged the moment its contract turns. Plate Check, Upgraded: Enter your plate and state and get a straight readout of what a scan means where you are, retention, who it's shared with, national-network and immigration exposure. Every line sourced. Know Your Rights: A browsable guide for all 50 states and DC, the ALPR law (or an honest "no statute"), retention caps, sharing rules, your right to record, what to do if you're stopped, and how to file a records request. Anchored to the real statute, reachable from any camera or city. Suspected Layer: A new optional map layer surfaces likely-but-unconfirmed cameras pulled from procurement records, dig requests, and lawsuits. Drawn with a dimmed "?" so they're never mistaken for confirmed. Tap to see why it's suspected; confirm it in the field to promote it. State of Flock: A national briefing pulls the whole picture into one place. The cancellation count, immigration-search disclosures, fresh deployments, and the lawsuits and bills that matter. Read it in the Feed or your intel hub, and share it as a clean tactical card. Sourced and dated, or it doesn't ship. Suspected is never confirmed, and absence isn't safety. Plus stability and performance passes across the board. Hold the line.
Build 887611410v1.0.32026-07-02 03:09:16
v1.0.3- INTEL ONLINE. The board stops handing you raw data and starts handing you intelligence. Six AI systems now work the field. Privacy-first, on your terms. Exposure Briefings: Your score and pass-by log become a plain-language readout. How many cameras you crossed this week, where they cluster, who runs them, and how long they hold footage. Daily or weekly, share-ready, off until you opt in. Low-Surveillance Routing: Set a destination and the map weighs every candidate path by camera density, then routes you the quiet way. Turn-by-turn with live rerouting and upcoming-camera callouts, plus a straight read on the trade: "3 minutes longer, 6 fewer eyes." Signal Feed, reading now: A Morning Digest pins the three things that matter to the top. Every story gets a one-line summary and relevance tags, near-duplicates merge, and off-mission noise drops out. Real understanding, not keyword matching. Camera Dossier Q&A: Put any camera on the stand. Who operates it, whether police need a warrant, how long footage survives — answered straight from the dossier's own intel, with a clear flag when something's unknown. Smarter Report Triage: Submit a sighting and the system pre-fills the camera type and operator, warns when a match already sits nearby, and flags low-confidence intel before it reaches the map. You hold final say on every field. Know Your Rights: Context-aware guidance keyed to your state and the camera in view, grounded in real court rulings. Quick-pick questions, plain answers, no legalese. Privacy holds the line: movement analysis stays off until you enable it, and only summarized counts ever leave your device. Plus stability and performance passes across the board. Hold the line.
Build 886026150v1.0.22026-05-26 11:26:28
v1.0.2- FIELD POLISH. Map render hardened: The tactical basemap no longer washes out while syncing. Near-black land and water lock in the moment tiles load, with pins the brightest thing on screen. User location marker simplified: No more stacked shapes. Intel Card share restored: export a clean snapshot of your perimeter and exposure to share anywhere, full area name intact. Camera Dossier refined: Expands and closes cleanly at full view, with the close control and bottom sections clear of the Dynamic Island and the dock. Signal Feed sharpened: Briefings no longer repeat the headline, off-mission crime coverage that only incidentally name-drops Flock is filtered out, and briefings now pull up to full view without a fight. Plus stability and performance passes across the board. Hold the line.
Build 885940620v1.0.12026-05-22 08:42:17
v1.0.1 - OPERATIONS EXPANDED. Sign in with Apple: Claim an anonymous operator callsign that survives reinstalls without ever tying to your real name or email. Community camera reports are live: Submit cameras you find on the ground with photo and notes; approved reports land on the map for every operator. Reports Archive in Profile tracks every submission's status: Pending verification, approved, or rejected with reason. 7-day free trial of Flocklight Pro: Live on the yearly plan for new operators. No card charged until day 7. Camera Dossier rebuilt: Real cross-streets via reverse geocoding, honest treatment of unknown-operator cameras, and cleaner cross-references to DeFlock, LPR Maps, DontGetFlocked, and GhostPlate. First-run flow refined: Tactical coach overlay on the map, notification prelude after onboarding, clearer location permission framing, and a RESET TUTORIAL option in Profile. Map style restored to architectural-blueprint spec: Near-black land and water, road network in three weights of gray. Pins are the brightest thing on screen. Signal Feed quality filter: Stock-analysis outlets and financial coverage of Flock Safety stripped from the feed. Pro feature surfaces (Exposure Dashboard, City Watchlist, Proximity Alerts) re-skinned in operational amber: Red now reserved for actual exposure events. Anonymous Analytics and Crash Reporting: Toggles added to Profile › Preferences. Send Feedback row added to System. Plus polish across the paywall, score leaderboard, profile header, plate-check card, and proximity-alert empty states. Hold the line.
