What’s New Version 1.0.7
Cook Mode
Follow recipes step by step with the screen staying on the whole time — no more tapping to wake your phone with floury hands.
Smarter Pantry
Your pantry now updates intelligently when you mark a recipe as made: quantities are scaled for your serving size and converted to the right units automatically. A new coverage badge on the planner shows at a glance what you already
have in stock, and you'll get a gentle nudge if you're running low after cooking.
New Home Tab
The dashboard is now your home screen, giving you faster access to your week at a glance. Recipes have moved to the More tab.
Barcode Scanner Upgrades
Added a flashlight button for scanning in dim lighting, plus a manual entry option if a barcode won't scan.
Added a flashlight button for scanning in dim lighting, plus a manual entry option if a barcode won't scan.
Widgets & Watch
Widget taps now deep-link directly to the right screen. Apple Watch complications now correctly read from the shared App Group store. Widgets also refresh automatically after Siri shortcuts run.
Missing Ingredient Prompts
When you add a meal to your plan, you'll be prompted about any ingredients you're running low on — from any add path.
Performance & Polish
Faster image loading with a real thumbnail cache, loading skeletons while content arrives, and improved offline sync reliability.
Accessibility
VoiceOver support for charts, day chips, and stat labels. Animations now respect your Reduce Motion setting throughout the app.
Description
Meal planning built for the parent of a picky eater.
EatPal turns the daily "what will they actually eat?" question into a 5-minute routine. Track each kid's safe foods, plan the week, auto-generate the grocery list, and lean on an AI coach that knows which foods your child will actually touch.
— WHY PARENTS PICK EATPAL —
• Built around real picky-eating science — food chaining, safe-food libraries, tiny-bite progressions.
• Every kid has a separate profile. Track allergies, textures they tolerate, and foods they're warming up to.
• Meal plans that respect your kid's "yes list" instead of fighting it.
• Grocery lists generated from the week's plan, organized by aisle, with a one-tap share to your partner.
— CORE FEATURES —
• Weekly meal planner for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks
• Per-kid profiles with safe foods, allergens, and preferences
• Barcode scanner to log packaged foods in seconds
• Smart grocery lists grouped by grocery-store aisle
• Nutrition summaries (calories, protein, iron, fiber, calcium) per kid per day
• Recipe library with kid-friendly tags and scaling
• Home-screen widget showing today's meals at a glance
• Offline-first — the plan survives a weak signal at the store
— FOR PICKY EATERS —
• Food chaining tools walk you from a food your kid likes to a new target food in small steps
• Try-bite tracker celebrates tiny wins (a lick, a sniff, a single bite)
• Sensory-friendly meal ideas filtered by texture and color
• Safe-food discovery — never get stuck at "what will they eat tonight?"
— AI MEAL COACH (Pro and up) —
• Suggests meals built from YOUR kid's actual safe-food list
• Answers nutrition questions in plain English
• Adapts as your kid's preferences grow
— FOR GROWING FAMILIES (Family Plus) —
• Unlimited kid profiles
• Shared household plan — two parents, one grocery list
• Grocery delivery integration (Instacart)
• Meal voting so kids get a say in dinner
• Weekly nutrition reports emailed every Sunday
— FOR FEEDING PROFESSIONALS (Professional) —

What's New
Syncing that just works
Recipes, grocery lists, pantry items, meal-plan templates, and shopping sessions now sync across every device on
your account — add something on your phone, see it on the web, and vice versa.
Better AI meal planning
Meal suggestions now use your child's profile, safe and try-bite foods, recent meals, and what's about to expire
in your pantry to recommend real meals — no more generic fallbacks.
Clearer recipes
Every recipe now shows how many servings it makes, and the serving stepper scales the ingredient amounts right
along with it.
Grocery & pantry fixes
"Move to pantry" now saves reliably, and store aisle layouts load correctly so your list is ordered to match your
store.
Stability
Squashed a number of bugs that could cause screens to fail to load or data to appear missing.

What's new
Dinner in 20 minutes? Tap Tonight Mode for three kid-fit recipes ranked against what's in your pantry — then cook hands-free with step-by-step prompts and a built-in
timer.
Snap a grocery receipt and watch your pantry fill itself in. EatPal reads the receipt with on-device vision, suggests the right aisle, and ignores the stuff you
didn't actually buy.
"What can I make right now?" finds recipes you can cook from your current pantry, flags the one or two ingredients you're short, and one-taps the missing items to
your grocery list.
Smart Quick Add for groceries — type a partial word or snap a product photo and we infer the name, unit, aisle, and brand. New AR Shelf Finder points your camera
down the aisle to spot items on your list.
Apple sign-in upgrades: bind a real email to your Apple account so you stop missing reminders sent to your @privaterelay address, and set a password so you can sign
in either way.
Other goodies in this release:
- "Expiring soon" pantry card so nothing rots in the back of the fridge
- Restock predictor learns your buying cadence and pre-flags items running low
- Shopping Mode — bigger taps, dark theme, brightness pinned for one-handed in-store use
- Post-meal feedback (1-5 emoji + note) so the planner learns what worked
- Try-bite streaks with milestone badges
- Family sharing via 6-character invite codes
- Budget calculator with a weekly spend forecast
- HealthKit kid growth-data import on profile setup
- Expanded Siri shortcuts ("Hey Siri, what's for dinner?")
Fixes
- Resolved a sign-in error ("Invalid authentication credentials") for users on the latest build — our backend was rotated and the app was still presenting the old
key. You should now be able to log in normally.

What's New in EatPal — v1.0.3 (Spring 2026)
Six big upgrades to the Pantry → Recipes → Plan → Grocery loop, focused on
reducing friction in the parts of weekly meal planning that take the most
tapping. Drop the relevant section into App Store / TestFlight / blog as
needed.
---
App Store-style summary (≤500 chars)
EatPal 1.0.3 makes weekly meal planning feel half as long.
• What can I cook? — match recipes against your pantry instantly
• Grocery, by recipe — flip between aisle order and per-meal grouping
• Real store aisles — 32 sections that match the way you actually shop
• One-tap "I made this" — auto-debits pantry + checks off ingredients
• Bulk edit in Pantry, Grocery, and Recipes — one tap to handle 30 items
• Structured recipes with proper quantities and units
---
Headline features
"What can I cook with what I have?"
Open the Recipes tab → tap the menu → What can I make? EatPal scans
your recipe collection, scores each one against your pantry and grocery list,
and shows you what you can cook right now vs what you're "almost there"
on. Every recipe shows the missing items as chips you can add to the grocery
list with one tap.
You'll also see this surfaced in the Grocery tab when your list is empty —
no need to start a list from scratch when dinner might already be in the
pantry.
Grocery list, by recipe
The Grocery tab has a new view-mode toggle in the header. Switch between:
- By Aisle (the default) — items grouped by where you'll find them in
the store, sorted in walk order
- By Recipe — items grouped under the meal that needs them, with a
"Mon dinner · Wed lunch" subtitle so you know what's covering what
Tap any recipe section header to jump straight into the recipe details
without leaving the Grocery tab. Items shared across multiple recipes get
their own "Shared" group at the top; manual additions stay visible at the
bottom.
Real grocery-store aisles
We expanded the 6-bucket food category list into a 32-aisle taxonomy that
mirrors how a US grocery store actually lays out: produce, bakery, bread,
meat & deli, seafood, dairy, eggs, refrigerated, frozen meals/veg/treats,
canned, dry soups, pasta, rice & grains, condiments, baking, breakfast,
snacks, crackers, candy, beverages, beer & wine, Mexican, Asian, European,
household, paper goods, cleaning, personal care, baby, pet, and other.
Existing items are auto-mapped to the closest match; you can refine per item
or in bulk. Shopping Mode now sorts your list by store walk order so you
move front-to-back through the aisles instead of doubling back.
One-tap "I made this"
Long-press any planned meal that's linked to a recipe and tap Made it.
EatPal will, in one move:
- Debit your pantry — every linked ingredient drops by one serving
- Check off matching grocery items — anything that recipe sourced from
your list gets marked bought
- Log the event — re-tapping within an hour shows "already logged"
instead of double-debiting your pantry
The whole loop happens in one server-side transaction, so it's atomic and
the UI updates instantly.
Bulk edit, everywhere
Tap Select multiple in the Pantry, Grocery, or Recipes menu (or use the
existing Pantry select toggle) and a bottom action bar appears. Each list
gets the actions that make sense for it:
- Pantry - Mark Safe, Mark Try-Bite, Move to Grocery, Set Category, Delete
- Grocery - Mark Bought, Set Aisle, Select All, Delete
- Recipes - Add Ingredients to Grocery, Select All, Delete
Every bulk action is a single network request - bulk-deleting 30 items
no longer makes 30 round-trips. Bulk-add-recipe-to-grocery dedupes against
your existing list and uses each recipe's structured ingredients (with
quantities + units) when available.
