What’s New Version 1.9.2

Study Deadlines and Mute Your Own Lines Set a target date for a script — a premiere, a show, an audition — and see it right on the script card and in your Calendar. In TTS drill, mute playback of just your own lines while keeping every other character's lines read aloud. We've also added a Singing marker for tagging sung lines in musical scenes.

Description

Stop reading the same pages over and over. HitCue is the script app theatre actors use to memorize lines and get off-book faster. Brute repetition is slow, stressful, and the first thing to collapse under stage lights. HitCue gives you a real method — script analysis, character focus, blackout drills, cue-line audio, and TTS playback — built around the way real productions actually rehearse. UPLOAD A SCRIPT, GET A REHEARSAL TOOL Drop in a PDF, Word file, or plain text. HitCue parses your script into acts, scenes, and dialogue automatically. Jump to any scene in a single tap — no more scrolling through 80 pages every time you need to work a moment. LEARN YOUR LINES, NOT THE WHOLE SCENE • Character focus — assign your role and isolate just your part • "My scenes only" filter — see only the scenes you actually appear in • Blackout mode — hide your lines and reveal them one at a time • Reveal hidden line — peek at a single line without leaving the drill • Bookmark — long-press a line to resume study from exactly where you stopped • Jump to scene — move anywhere in the play without breaking your flow DRILL CUES WITHOUT A PARTNER • Text-to-speech playback — your phone reads the other parts aloud, with separate male and female voices per character • Cue-line audio recordings — record the lines before yours and run drills solo, any time • Cue beep — a soft tone right before your line so you always know when to come in • Adaptive pause — silence on your line matches the length of your recorded delivery • Manual pause mode — tap to advance after each line, on your own timing • End-of-scene behavior — loop the scene, advance to the next, or jump only between your scenes ORGANIZE EVERYTHING IN ONE PLACE • Acts and scenes navigation • Per-scene and per-character notes • Character sheet — age, type, relationships, objectives, emotional arc • Per-scene character statistics — see exactly which scenes you have cracked and which still need work • Theatre calendar — schedule rehearsals, performances, auditions, lessons and study sessions • Recurring events and reminders — keep repeated calls visible and get notified before rehearsal • Dialogue styles — classic script format or modern bubble layout • Script update — re-import a new version without losing your study progress REHEARSE WITH YOUR CAST (Pro) • Share your script with the cast via one invite link — no email chains • Shared notes attached to the scene — direction, blocking, and changes stay in one place • Cast recordings — share audio inside the script, in context • Member access management — keep ownership of your shared script WHO IT IS FOR Theatre actors preparing a role. Drama students with off-book deadlines, monologue auditions, and scene study assignments. Community theatre casts juggling rehearsals around day jobs. Understudies and swings tracking multiple parts in the same production. Acting teachers and directors who want their cast on the same page. PRICING Free — 1 active script, 1 personal character, standard AI parsing, all core study tools. Pro Monthly / Pro Annual — unlimited scripts, unlimited characters, advanced AI parsing, shared notes, cast recordings, advanced per-scene progress, modern dialogue styles, priority support. There is no Team tier. Collaboration is part of Pro. Upload your first script and start learning lines today. Terms of Use (EULA): https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/

Build 887396713v1.9.12026-06-25 23:20:35
New Blackout Levels Blackout mode now has three levels of difficulty: full blackout, first word only, or just the first letter of each word, with the rest blurred. Choose how much of your line stays hidden right from Study Settings, and dial the drill to match how ready you are for a scene.
Build 886670464v1.9.02026-06-08 19:10:23
Theatre Calendar for Rehearsals HitCue now includes a calendar built for actor work: rehearsals, performances, auditions, lessons, and personal study sessions can live next to the script you are preparing. Create timed or all-day events, add location and notes, repeat calls on a daily, weekly, or monthly schedule, and set reminders so rehearsal does not disappear into a separate calendar app.
Build 885965847v1.8.12026-05-21 22:38:06
Improved character management. Aliases now grouped by character with line counts. From the character detail screen, merge a duplicate into another character or delete one entirely — deletion requires a typed confirmation, and the character's lines convert to neutral notes rather than disappearing.
Build 885830450v1.8.02026-05-19 16:10:25
Annotate your lines directly in the script. Long press any line to open the annotation menu: add a personal note, pick a colour highlight, set a stage direction marker (entrance, exit, cue, pause) or tag the emotion. All stored per line, synced to your account.
Build 885627714v1.7.12026-05-14 17:10:31
Line count per scene and queued parsing indicator. Line count: each scene card now shows how many of your lines are in that scene. Your total line count also appears in the script card header — useful for estimating your study workload at a glance. Queued parsing: when a script is waiting to be analysed, a clear indicator appears on the script card so you know the upload was received and is in the queue.
Build 885427295v1.7.02026-05-08 18:04:20
Full script view, offline study, and original file access. Full script view: a new button on the script page opens a single scrollable view of the complete script — all acts, all scenes, all lines in one place. Supports character filter, scene jump, bookmarks, notes, and progress. Offline study: scene view, lines view, and full script view now work without an internet connection. Show original script: tap the script actions menu to open the original uploaded file (PDF, Word, or plain text).
Build 885192871v1.6.02026-05-03 21:58:31
Bookmarks, beep cue, scene jump, and modern dialogue styles. Long-press any line to save a bookmark. Next time you open the script, continue from exactly that point. A beep now plays just before your character's line in TTS drill mode — useful when you're not watching the screen. Toggle it in study settings. Manual pause mode: the drill stops after each line and waits for you to press play, so you set the tempo. Scene jump: tap the scene title from inside the study view or lines view to open the scene list and jump to any scene directly. Modern bubbles and Modern script are two new dialogue layouts with tighter spacing and clearer character separation. Available on Pro. Classic layouts remain free.
Build 884864759v1.5.12026-04-24 17:20:28
Three ways to update your script. When a new version of a script arrives — a director makes a cut, a line changes, a scene gets rearranged — you now choose how to apply it. Update dialogues only replaces the text of each line without touching acts, scenes, or characters. Your notes and progress stay intact; recordings on lines that changed will need to be re-recorded. Update new data only adds scenes and characters that didn't exist before, without modifying anything already in the script. Use this when the director adds a new scene mid-rehearsal. Full update re-parses the script from scratch. Notes and progress reset — use this when the structure has changed significantly. Also in this update: — Offline banner: a clear notice appears when there's no network connection, so you know exactly why something isn't loading — Session expiry overlay: if your session expires, you're prompted to log in again instead of hitting a silent error — Status legend: tap the legend icon in the script hub to see what each progress icon on scenes and acts means — Inline insert button in scenes: add a new line between two existing ones without long-pressing the row
Build 884674102v1.5.02026-04-19 19:14:43
Edit your script. Manage your cast. Drill with realistic timing. You can now add, edit, and delete dialogue lines directly inside a scene. If the parser dropped a stage direction, mis-split a speech, or you just need to adjust a line, you no longer have to re-upload the script — fix it in place and keep your notes, progress, and recordings. Script owners can now see exactly who has access to a shared script and remove members with one tap. Useful when a production wraps, when someone leaves the cast, or when you need to clean up old invites. New audio setting: Match pause to my recording. When you drill alone with TTS reading the other roles, the pause on your own line now matches the length of your recorded line — so the timing matches real rehearsal instead of a fixed gap. Also in this update: — Recording badge on dialogue rows, so you can see at a glance which lines you've already recorded — More reliable speaker detection for scripts that use unusual name separators — Script hub refreshes automatically when you reopen the app from the background
Build 884625488v1.4.42026-04-17 22:12:04
Peek. Focus on your scenes. Blackout mode now has a reveal button — the eye icon next to any hidden line. Tap it to sneak a peek without exiting Blackout mode. You stay in study context, see the line you need, and keep going. No more toggling the whole mode off just because you blanked on one line. In the script hub, a new toggle lets you see only the scenes where your character appears. If you're in a large show or covering multiple roles, this makes it much faster to find where you need to be. Also in this update: — Clearer visual gaps in the lines view when your lines aren't consecutive in the scene — so you can see at a glance how much space there is before your next cue — Better feedback when uploading unsupported file formats, including specific detection of perusal editions of musical theatre scripts

Build 884374683v1.4.02026-04-10 22:48:23
Voice by character gender: when a scene has multiple characters, HitCue now assigns a male or female voice automatically, based on the gender you've set for each character. Your lines sound like a real scene, not a single narrator reading everything. Adjustable speech rate: control how fast the voice reads lines. Slow it down when you're working through difficult dialogue, speed it up once you already know the material. Reading indicator: the active line animates while it's being read aloud, so you always know exactly where you are in the scene. Also in this update: — Faster loading of scene notes and recordings — Improved TTS voice compatibility on Android
Build 884271818v1.32026-04-09 07:40:25
Three updates worth knowing about since 1.0. Character Resolution: when HitCue doesn't recognize a name in your script — a nickname, a typo, a role listed two different ways — you can now decide what to do with it. Confirm it as a new character, merge it with an existing one, or remove it entirely. You can also set aliases so HitCue remembers your choices the next time you re-upload a revised version of the same script. Update Script: re-upload a script you've already added to HitCue. The new version is re-parsed from scratch while your notes, character assignments, and settings stay in place. Sign in with Google: now available on iOS. Log in or create an account with your Google account — no password needed. Also in these updates: — Scripts up to 500 pages now supported — Better detection of annotated editions that can't be parsed correctly — Loading indicator while your script list loads — Your app version is now visible in the profile screen
