Description

This game is optimized for tablets and not recommended for phones with screen sizes under 7 inches. Kidnapped. Imprisoned. Tortured. this runs great on my old ipad . on new hardware the ui is hilariously tiny. please atleast update this gem to scale with new devices . also add purchase baring support across family thanks . get a version to work for ipad pros with the trackpad keyboard that would be sick . you could probably re-port it . i know bg3 players will start taking interest in this game .

Limited avenues of play 1) While you have the option of being an evil character, the story and the primary NPCs revolve around being a good character. 2) You can only beat the game with specific party profiles - high-powered magic users and fighters. Your other character classes offer limited support and can actually become liabilities in combat situations.

Game unplayable. No way to select enemies or aim attacks. You have to pause to select options. End up dead just because the pause button is hard to activate. Spent 30 minutes creating a character which can’t ever be used. The view of action is so bad you have to read the text to very slowly figure out what happened.

I played to the end of the first dungeon. Opened a description window for a dire charm scroll. Suddenly enemy dialog and fighting is happening behind the window and there is no way to close the window. No x, no swipe, nothing. Just stuck in the scroll screen while everything is happening. All other functions are greyed out and unavailable. I have no idea what would have solved this problem but there were not a lot of options to try. I was forced to quit and I lost all the progress. 3 stars for a buggy port of a classic game.

Someone screwed up
This used to be playable, but it’s now almost impossible to manage the different characters during a fight. It won’t let you simply select which character you want to take an action using the character portraits on the right, and it won’t let you select who to even cast a spell on half the time. These are the worst gameplay changes I’ve ever seen.

Thought it would be turned based combat
I played BG3 and thought this would be a fun game on my iPad. Unfortunately the combat is chaotic and you have to pause the game, then select actions on each character but you can’t move the characters to be able to select enemies. I wish they would’ve stated that on the game and am unable to get a refund per Apple even after purchasing this less than 24 hours ago. Not happy with Apple or this game, so 1 star!

My favorite game of all time. So glad to run through it again. I noticed what I think might be a bug. In ToB I am running a mage/thief. I have boots of haste which make me run fast. I just finished the flail of the ages and when I equip it my character slows down; as though I’m no longer wearing the boots. When I unequip the flail of ages I am back to normal speed. This doesn’t happen with any other weapon. Thank you for a great game, hope this can be fixed!

Many years ago I purchased this for my computer used for $5. My ex was beside herself upset because I’d never even played the first Baldurs Gate. I played the heck outta that game. I was so excited to see this ported over to iOS I gladly bought it several years ago and played the heck outta it again. Just as beautiful with all the wonderful effects, compelling story, and challenge. If this is your first ride, hold on. While it isn’t a 3d whirlwind world, it is a Dungeons & Dragons masterpiece that is likely to occupy much of my time yet again . . . and again . . . and again . . . .

I couldn’t make it through character creatation. As much as I love having these games on here this one cannot be played. It’s a small square on the phone. Civilization 6 does a better job. I gave one extra start bc I love the effort to bring it to mobile but it’s not there yet.

Impressive port, fun game
If you had told me 8 years ago when I first played through the EE editions of this game on PC that I’d enjoy them more on an iPad I would have called you crazy and laughed. I am surprised how much more I enjoy these on the iPad compared with my PC. As text heavy games doing the reading on the iPad is very comfortable. I also felt more connected to my party and NPCs compared to using a traditional mouse and keyboard. I’ve played the entirety of the main game Shadows of Amn and haven’t quite finished Throne of Bhaal on the iPad, yet. The long press can be annoying at times but usually works.

Great games. Fantastic to see this in a port for iPad. However there are so many bugs still. I am completely frustrated with my game freezing up all the time or the Settings not working correctly targeting messed up etc. etc. if it was free I would not complain but I paid money for this. Developers have long abandoned
Like every other game in this collection the developers have long abandoned it. They will never update the games to work on small screens and have only updated the description that maybe you should only buy the iPad version (but will still sell you the iPhone version). It should’ve never been sold for phones. The only response you will get is “thanks for the feedback” or they’ll direct you to their forums which are none existent now.

This is a classic RPG, one of the best of the old school (though, like all Black Isle RPGs, can be unfairly hard or unbalanced at times). Still, great interface, good story and a classic.
