Description

Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions has arrived for iPhone/iPod touch! Released as the Final Fantasy series' first tactical RPG in 1997, Final Fantasy Tactics on Playstation went on to sell over 2.4 million copies worldwide. The game grew in popularity upon its re-release in 2007 as Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions for the PSP with added features such as new movies, scenarios and Jobs. Now, in 2011 the game has finally arrived for the iPhone/iPod touch! You can enjoy the game whose story gave life to the world of Ivalice, and whose high strategy battles bring tactical games to a whole new level. ■Game features - Intuitive Touch Screen Controls The complex tactical game can be effortlessly and intuitively controlled by simply tapping units and menus. Gone is the old method of switching fixed map views - you can now rotate, move and change the size of maps as you please by sliding and pinching. - Improved Loading Times Loading times have been improved to get you into the action quicker than ever. What's more, you can even skip certain cut scenes. [Other Important Notifications] - Quick Save (auto-save) data is erased when the game is updated. Controller option NEEDED
We need a controller option already , all other final fantasy games on the App Store allow for controller . Been waiting 3 years for a controller update already like come on . Some of us are handicapped and can’t use the touch interface for this game , there’s AI now have it make you a scrip or something to make it work .

I am the worlds greatest gamer and reviewer, this game is way too easy
Make the game more difficult, I understand you need to make it easy for wimps and bubble blowing babies, but real gamers want more difficult games. Also give players the option for faster speed in battles, right now it’s like watching a sloth move, really slow and outdated. Also the story is not riveting at all, please work on that too and I will assess, thank you.

No sound, weird speed issues
Sound won’t play for some reason even after restarting my phone, unit speed is sped up to about 2X normal speed also. Love the game, this version isn’t worth $14 though. EDIT: okay, so I finally figured out the sound issue. For some reason, unlike every other game and app on my phone, the audio output is tied to whether or not you have your phone in “silent” mode. So you can set the BGM/SFX to max volume, if the switch on your phone is set to “silent”, it doesn’t matter, you get no sound. Still haven’t figured out what’s going on with NPC movement animations though.

But the game runs kinda bad. Maybe it was passable then as a mobile game, but ive only ever played this game on gaming consoles and it's a much smoother experience. In my opinion this game requires too much attention to be pick up and play. The iphone versiom works on ipad but it doesnt fill the screen. And no, im not buying it twice, because i own it on multiple platforms already

I see in the reviews the user interface is clunky and really needs work. Well they are right. It makes it longer to execute a move than it does to decide on one. It’s a good game and very nostalgic however not worth the money to pay. If it was 2.99 in its current state I would say fair however in its current state I suggest waiting for it to go on sale

Amazing game
This is genuinely one of my favorite games on any console. I love the characters, the story, the mechanics. Such a solid piece of art. I really would love to see a spinoff where we get Delita’s side of the story. All in all, it’s worth every penny. This game totes some lines that I have memorized to this day. It’s one of those that feels like an accomplishment to beat, and every few years I find myself revisiting it to try new class combinations and for nostalgia sake. I hope that others will enjoy it the way I do, because it really is a work of art.

Square will undoubtedly pull this from the store to prevent FFT IC sales from being diminished by the more complete WotL release. This app works. It doesn’t crash. It runs well. The touch screen works well. Additional characters and story arcs make this a much more complete game. You will not regret this purchase AND it’s 50% the cost of the bogus Ivalice Chronicles release coming in September

Played through the game once absolutely no issues, started my 2nd play through got to chapter four, once I get TG-CID the game freezes on any random battle once I move one person. Thought I could uninstall the app and redownload it………lost all my saves……….They need to fix this game breaking bug.

Great Game, No Controller Support
The game is one of the best games in the FF series and has been one of my favorite games since its release on PlayStation. The upgraded content is wonderful to play. The biggest con with the game is the screen controls feel clunky trying to control a tactical game. All the other mainstream iOS FF games have controller support except this one. The screen controls make it hard to get into a rhythm and streamline the gameplay. Hoping this gets updated at some point in the future.

You need to update ff9 screen to full screen or at least fill it enough where there a 10th of a screen not being used like the other remasters Edit: notice the ivalance cronicle version is not coming to iOS: can you guys at least please update this version to support modern screen size, as it still fill the space of 4 inch phone from a decade ago but not more modern display size

Needs save support mid battle
This game used to be able to save mid battle so you could come back and play later. As a mobile game this is essential. If I wanted to sit and play for an unlimited amount of time I wouldn’t be playing on mobile. They need to fix this one of these days. It’s shameful how broken this is considering how much money they make off it.

PLEASE UPDATE FOR CURRENT GEN HARDWARE
iCloud doesn’t work, and probably hasn’t been updated since 3G was a thing. The resolution is terrible for the newer phones. The UI is sluggish, uncalibrated, and not touch screen friendly. This is such a great game, but an awful port. Please fix this game Square Enix. It needs desperate updates and more than a “Bug Fix” every handful of years.

I love this game but the lack of auto-save makes this unplayable on mobile. Mobile games need to be designed to be played in short bursts. I have been unable to complete a single battle as I can’t sit down and play a phone game uninterrupted for 20 minutes. If I had that kind of time, I would be playing a console.

Backbone support
This game is awesome back in ps1 days but not so much on iOS. It doesn’t seem better with controller support idea, it’s a MUST with this kind of game. I’m going to rate this 5* simply to make this review visible. If I rate the 2* based on no controller support, it won’t be near as visible as 5*. Please add either backbone support or at the very least Bluetooth controller support. Controller support is an absolute must for top down tile combat games.
