Good, but time sensitive.
I love this app! So much u can personalize about it and very easy to learn. It’s like Korean instagram but for friends only. However, if you do not at least open the app every 2-3 days, it deletes all unread messages. (Though the sender will never be notified of this because all messages are still visible on their end). This has created a problem for me on multiple occasions when busy with school or work or traveling without cell service. Wish they would fix this minor issue.

New update is not good
I’ve used kakaotalk for several years to communicate with friends and korean teachers. i lost my first account after not using it for a year, but then tried to re-sign up and i wasn’t able to connect my previous email so i ended up using my work email. with the new update, it logged me out and made it hard to login. while i do like the added protection and security it’s to the point the person who actually owns the account cannot log back in.

Installed it and lasted all of ten minutes. Only wanted it to contact one person but wouldn’t let me add this person without downloading my entire contact list. Too many hoops to jump through to set it up and difficult confusing to use. Cannot even delete my profile. Absolutely worthless and annoying to me. YMMV. Will never again even try to install this.

Can’t Access Photos
Although tried various ways to have an access to and send photos through KakaoTalk, it won’t let me. I checked my iPhone Privacy&Security tab and Screen Content & Privacy Restrict. There is nothing wrong with those. I also removed the app and reinstalled it five times. I restarted my iPhone several times as well. There must be a glitch in KakaoTalk app.

I’ve been a kkt user for over 7 years. I created a new account due to my relocation and number change and it restricted me from messaging!!! I am ready to upload my ID or do any form of identification to talk, but it doesn’t let me!!!!! It doesn’t say when I can start messaging and joining group chats at all!!!! Deleted all of my past messages!!!!
To enforce monthly charge for "back up", the developers froze my account, unable to receive or send message. Then when I reinstalled the app, deleted my past messages! If I knew that they'd delete all of my messages, I would've paid the monthly subscription because they mean a lot to me, but I only found out what was going on after all the messages were deleted because they didn't announce this huge change properly! Such an unethical move by an immoral company!

Remove the thread replies.
Literally ruins the chat convo. And admin can’t see everything posted if they don’t have the message posted to the chat. Which doesn’t allow them to actually monitor their groups and maintain safety. The thread responses are annoying even when they post to the chat because you get a separate notification for something you can already see. It’s bothersome.

Kakao experience
Whenever I am traveling to South Korea, I love using Kakao message on phone calls as well as text messaging. This platform seems very easy for me to use and I’m always using it.

Difficult and Clunky
With so many brands making it more and more difficult to log in/out/delete account/import/export there are very few who at least try to make it easier. KakaoTalk is one of the most difficult to use especially for account management. I advise stay away unless you know what you’re doing or willing to embark on a fool-hardy adventure. Same for Kakao mail. Good luck! I know the dreaded Google is verboten but their chat app is up to standard as well as account control is best in class. Blessings to you all.

Editing!
Has the edit function been available for a while and I never noticed? Or is it new? Either way: just what I needed. I’d love to be able to add GIFs— that’d be great. But on the whole, I love it. Simple to use, and effective.

Number of Character limit
Can you increase this number of char in text? Maybe 50% more. Whenever the size of text exceeds the limit, you have to click again to see the whole text. That is inefficient.

Absolutely awesome! Fun & better than most American apps- especially since you can send HQ videos and original-sized pictures! Can't really record infinite audio messages, but it's so fun to use! My Korean friend like "Get KaKao. KaKao better." ...and he was right! The interface is clean and professional, and the added calendar is very nice!

Login Always Fails
Every single time I have used KaKao, I run into the same issue: if I log out, I cannot log back in. I have made two separate accounts and am now locked out of both. I attempted to have the first account terminated so I could remake it properly using my actual phone number, but customer support was completely unhelpful and put me back into the same loop of steps I had already tried multiple times. Even the “Find My Account” feature does not work. It claims my phone number is not tied to any account, yet when I try to create a new account with that same number, it says the number is already in u

Un-deletable?!
I got the app for chatting with potential Korean friends.. which didn't pan out, so I wanted to delete my account Well, apparently it's impossible?! First you have to unregister, but if you provided your email and phone number (mandatory to create your account) you'll get a message that you have "linked accounts" -which is your email and phone number- and you can't unregister if you have linked accounts!? Further, if you try to go to the developer website for help, it's entirely in the Korean language. I tried to report this bizarre catch-22 to Apple, but I can't because it's a free app.. and

Useless update
What's with the latest update? Kakao talk used to have a very simple, easy on the eye, friends list. After the recent update it's now looking horrible with all the huge photos covering most of the screen. It's not simple anymore and very difficult to navigate friends list. Whoever approved this update must be using a different chat app other than Kakao. Bad decision to make the app not user friendly.

New UI is terrible
Kakao trying to be more like instagram is terrible. I just want to be able to chat with my friends in a simple interface. Even though they have promised to revert back to the old style I have yet to see it after a month. I’m sure they just plan on keeping the new style and hope people get used to it. I will be convincing my family and friends to use another messaging app.

Interface freezes
I’ve noticed KakaoTalk has become slower and less responsive since the introduction of the ad bar. The interface often freezes when opening chats, which makes the experience frustrating. I understand the need for ads, but I hope the team prioritizes optimizing performance and user experience before expanding monetization features.

Worst update ever
This recent update is probably one of the worst changes that’s been made to this app. The new changes to the profile section is just terrible, making it look like an Instagram feed. Also, one of the main issues I’ve had is that the messages and photos are slow to show up in chat; sometimes the app doesn’t even show me the new messages so I have to close and open the app multiple times. The app is just unappealing and terrible.
