This app used to be a great tuner, in the last year or so It has just gone from bad to worse. I get no response from the app. I’ve tried Customer Service and the website won’t come up. Too bad I really liked this app at one time.

Doesn’t register sound/freezes up at random
Fairly accurate when it works, but it only works about 20% of the time. I’ve tried to tune several different instruments using this app, and have had the same issue every time: it randomly stops registering sound in the middle of tuning. It’s extremely frustrating. Gave it one star because the GUI looks pretty cool.

Cleartune is mediocre at best but is likely the fault of the microphone, not the software. The bandwidth is limited and cannot tune the scope of a piano or harpsichord. Still, for a phone app it is not bad and better than lugging a tuner around.

Briefly satisfied
I bought this app years ago and it great at first…then it starting getting glitchy. It won’t change notes to tune when you switch strings, and this is not a new problem- this has been going on for years! Very frustrating, the only reason I didn’t delete it is because I’m cheap and hate deleting apps I payed for. Rarely does it work correctly. I will say that I have not gotten the newest update yet so we’ll see if it actually fixes anything buuuut I’m not getting my hopes up.

Don’t waste your time
The devs removed features a few years back, and never added them back in. No updates in years, and it may not even work on all devices. Plus it just doesn’t pick up quieter sounds very well, such as an unplugged electric guitar. Plain and simple, other apps work better. Cleartune was great when it first came out, but it has languished and isn’t worth using at all in 2023.

Needs Updates
I’ve had this app on my phone for years, multiple generations of iPhones. It used to be great, super handy for practice or any sort of musical question. Sadly, for the past couple years it has started to freeze constantly. It’s like it can’t handle too much noise, just a few things then it freezes and I have to restart the app to get it to work. Seems like a relatively easy fix, no sign of improvement thus far. Obviously an app will never be as good as a physical tuner, but this was at least a good option at one point in time.

Can’t pick up low strings
Used to be great, but since the clear tune lost the ability to use red lights to show when you’re out of tune, it’s been getting worse and worse. Now it won’t even pick up pitch on the lower string, like G on the violin and completely useless for cello and only half decent for viola. Wish the creator kept up with the updates.

Love it, hoping for playback improvement
I have found a lot of great use for this application as I am a double bass player. I just wished that it would allow the playback drone over Bluetooth. As it stands, I can only hear the drones from my tiny little iPhone speakers (bad for low frequencies) or through headphones. If this issue could be resolved it would make it the perfect application for me and I am sure many others.

I am not a teacher, or professional musician, I play a guitar for the joy it gives me. This app is great, when it works. It tunes precisely, but suddenly gets stuck on one note. There is nothing I can do to force the needle to move again. It is incredibly frustrating. I went to the App Store to see if there has been an upgrade, but it appears that nothing has been done to repair this in two years. Please please repair this App.

All other tuner’s I’ve tried pick up all 6 strings. Cleartune often fails to detect B and high E. Even tried with external mic, with no success. I like the app, but it is useless if I cannot tune all strings.

App has trouble reading low frequencies on a harpsichord
I tried contacting the developer but the email bounced. Are they still functioning? I use the app on an iPhone to tune a harpsichord, starting in the middle of the keyboard. Once I get to about F2 the app either reads an octave too high (says F3) or cannot give any frequency. Any solutions?

As I build bamboo flutes this tuner turns out to be pretty much useless. It is not sensitive enough to display notes that are out of range of fixed pitches. Often times it gets stuck and does not respond at all to any input. In that case I have to delete the app and download it again. It responses ok to guitar tuning though.

Buggy
I’ve been using this app for a while for pipe organ tuning. Its ability to do temperaments is great, however today when I tried to tune to A415 Neidhardt Kleine Stadt, this preset had disappeared and the A415 setting kept reverting to A440. I’m trying to get an organ tuned for a performance and now I am screwed. Two stars for past usefulness but this is really a problem. I’d say use this app with great caution because it is unstable and features that once worked have ceased to. I wouldn’t call it dependable. Sadly for what I do there is no other adequate app. What are we supposed to do?

Not working properly.
I’m using an iPhone 12 pro, and the app has not been working properly. It sometimes responds better to pitches from C5 and up, but anything lower than that it gets stuck or doesn’t respond. I’ve tried downloading the app several times, I’ve changed my case to make there was no obstruction to the microphone, but the problem is still there. Is there a fix for this, otherwise I’ll to use another app. Cleartune used to work very well and was indispensable when it came to baroque temperaments.

Maybe 10 years
I have had this app a long time. It has long sent my korg and clip on tuners into the obscure corners of my garage. But… I recently purchased an IPhone 13 pro and re purchased the app under a new Apple ID. I am very disappointed. I am using free turners with better success. If the problems are not fixed by march if 2022, I will change to zero stars if it is possible. I hope that I will get my favorite app back and functional.

I used to use this often- with the phone always in my pocket this app was great for checking the key of something quickly or as a back up tuner. But lately it is always frozen. Doesn't have to be a noisy environment, can be a long note in a silent room and this app is still useless. Current phone, current version- it just doesn't work.

I have use this app for quite a few years. It was especially helpful for practicing pedal tones. However it no longer responds to anything played below a B natural just under the staff. Uninstalling and reinstalling the program has not helped. I really like the layout of the program and the transposition feature but now I have to find something else. 🤔

Suddenly I can’t set it at low pitch
Suddenly I can no longer set this tuner to A-415. The historical temperaments still work but I need to be able to change the A to a lower pitch. I can change it but it immediately changes back to 440. If you fix it I will restore my five star rating. Right now it is useless to me.

Great tuner needs some love from the dev
The was my first iPhone tuner and is still my favorite. No frills, just what you need. At some point however the mic level or something seems to have changed. I can’t tune my electric violin without needing to plug it in. Works great for ukulele. Also lately when manually selecting pitch using the pitch tone feature, the wheel responds very inconsistently to touch which makes it frustrating to pick a frequency. I hope they fix this. It really is a five star app otherwise.
