Amazing App
Love this App for traveling in our Campervan. It has been especially helpful in determining the best route to take during high winds and other inclement weather. But it has so,so many other amazing features, from turn by turn navigation via Apple Maps, to highway camera access, to future weather forecasts along every mile of any of several potential travel routes for temperature, precipitation, wind gusts etc. I hardly ever write a review but this App and its developer deserve the highest praise.

I am able to get the weather all the way through my trip. I am able to compare the weather for different days so I can plan accordingly. I used it last year during ice and snow and it helped me plan my trip through mountains and winding roads. It was not a good area to drive in so I could plan according. I highly recommend it if you drive a lot on long trips.

App does not close out/terminate
App stays running constantly after swiping the phone based screen up to kill it only to find it still running on CarPlay. Killing CarPlay doesn’t end it either. It takes a phone reboot to shut it down which is ridiculous. It’s a good app otherwise but will no longer use it or buy the features until this fixed.
I just feel some companies just want to track your whereabouts constantly which I do not like. Very annoying. When I close an app I want it terminated. It has been deleted from my phone for this reason.

Roadway Conditions are missing
Does not show what pavement/driving conditions are now/likely to be when I get there, e.g. pavement dry and bare; standing water; snow & slush; frozen snow or ice.
Also disappointed at only being shown 2 optional routes for driving from point A to point B. Waypoints would maybe allow me to create custom route.

Can’t use the app for intended purpose without allowing it to ALWAYS know your location? I am fine with allowing when I am using the app, NO you do not need to sell me information by tracking my every move. The fact that you can’t start a journey UNTIL you allow ALWAYS tracking is complete bogus. Cancelled my 7 day trial 5 minutes into it!

Incredibly Smart App!
Driving through the Siskiyous this app was critical to my timing, planning, and snow chain awareness!
Only things i wish I could customize which would allow me to fully utilize the app are the alert/ next turn color, since bright orange at night was too much for me, and the voice- wow- i lasted about 15mins before changing back to google maps for navigation lol but the orange was eating at me the entire time.
With those 2 changes i would have used this app to navigate the entire trip!

Not at all accurate for road conditions
OnTheWayApp gets one thing right: temperature forecasts and the “chain up / carry chains” zones were accurate. That’s it.
Everything else has been unreliable. Multiple times on high-mileage trips this past week, the app showed clear road conditions and clear weather when that was absolutely not the case. It repeatedly failed to flag the stuff that actually matters for travel—slick and icy roads, fog, snowy conditions, and other hazards you need to know about before you commit to a route.

As a trucker this saves me time
This app is a major time saver for cross country driving. The time it took me to manually parse each states weather databases was significantly longer than letting this do the heavy lifting. Truckers need to know about this. If you see there are severe alerts on your route you can compare routes and also best times to depart in order to heat or miss wait out the weather.

Flying is awful these days, so I'm doing more long road trips. It's *super* helpful for traveling in the winter months to find days when there won't be snow. For other months, being able to pick dry pavement days is awesome.
You can adjust the departure time, and it updates weather conditions at multiple points along the trip route as you change the departure time. Great app!
