NewsBreak app is non-compliant with its own community guidelines
This app show should receive ZERO stars because it does not adhere to its own community guidelines and bogus features within app are non-functional. Under “Content Preferences AI-summarized Content Control” there are three options of supposed choice: Allow (default); Limit; and Disable. I checked “disable” yet it remained on “Allow”. Within less than five minutes a random video of an obese, black woman is seen jumping into the trunk of her vehicle as a tiger sprints towards her in the U.S.A. Research on reputable news platforms noted that this is AI generated and not based upon facts.

This app has changed a lot in recent months and you’ll notice most of the happy reviews are older. I’ve tried multiple times to block contributors I don’t like, or product ads that are misleading, but that block only lasts a few days, and they’re back. I love this app so much!!
I’ve tried a bunch of news apps, but NewsBreak really stands out. It just feels like it was made for real people. The layout is super clean and easy to use, and the way it mixes national headlines with local news is perfect. I always feel up to date without getting hit with too much at once.

My parents use this app for news and it infuriates me. They’re constantly sending me links to news that I would like to read on SAFARI but I can only read the news on your APP. It’s a lame use of marketing. It you have news to share - make it accessible for all. Not just those using the app. After two years I finally caved but I am NOT happy about it. I receive emails from NewsBreak for articles that are supposed to be national news. However, a lot of the articles are international. Every time I get a NewsBreak notification, whether it’s on my lock screen or it shows up as a banner, after I click to read that particular story the NewsBreak load page is displayed for approx 10 seconds and then it force closes. This is a decent news app, and the ads have always kinda been annoying, but have typically been somewhat manageable. However, recently, I have started seeing ads that are connected to malware. This app reports fake news, makes fact checking a headline to get you to open the app, they sensationalize irrelevant news so you will open the app and report completely fake news as they did this week saying that “Hamas accepts cease fire.” (Which they did not). These headlines are aimed at one thing only….. to get you to open the app so they will make money off of this kind of nonsense. I hate this app and give it one star. Horrible App
I downloaded this in hopes that it would notify me of news events happening around me as it claims it does. Most of the notifications have nothing to do with location (I never got a local notification and yes I checked my notifications settings). When I did happen to click on a notification to read a news article it is nearly impossible to find the actual article since 95% of the page is covered in ads and pop up ads. News stories I have tried to read always close themselves within 30 seconds and brings me to the home page of the app. The news stories are also very biased and focus on fear mon
