Why did you change???
This app was one of my favorites. I was capturing precious moments of my kids growing up for a video montage I was putting together to share with my wife in the future. Now out of nowhere the app upgrades and you’ve robbed us of that joyful moment. The things people do for profit is sad! You had a good product but decided to sell and now your app looks terrible! The quality is generic and doesn’t look vintage at all, just discolored. I didn’t use this app because your recent Kardashian and Ronaldo investors now use it. Unethical Subscription Model Change
I’ve been a loyal user of RAD VHS since it launched in 2016, back when I paid for the app as a one-time purchase. Now, I can’t even use the app unless I pay for a subscription. This is completely unfair to those of us who supported the app early on. There was no notification or update to the terms when this change was made. It feels like I’m being forced to pay twice for something I already own. Loyal customers deserve better than this bait-and-switch tactic. Very disappointed.

i used to use this app to make anniversary videos for me and my boyfriend for a few years starting in 2018. It was $20 a year at the time, had a few bugs and issues but the product was worth it to me. Flash forward to now 2024, i redownload the app after a few years of forgetting to make the videos, to make one for our wedding. Now, the app is $5/week and is MUCH worse than ever before. I’ve never dealt with a more buggy app that isn’t free. So it’s a great app and all (good for that old time vhs feel) but I cannot download my videos. It’s easy to change the date and stuff but I don’t know how to download videos without having to pay money. A bit of a ripoff but if you don’t care about saving videos I guess it’s good. Beyond Garbage.
There’s a “glitch” slider, I’m not sure if that’s for the video effect, or the app. It crashed back to the desktop trying to import the first video (always a good sign). Once it succeeded importing, then it wanted to start a 3-day premium trial before being able to save anything. That would br followed by $4.99 a WEEK if you don’t cancel. A WEEK?! I used to be able to permanently buy software for $50, I’m not spending $20 a month on any app, I don’t care what it is. I guess the devs got money hungry because now I have to pay for everything. Before the watermark on the video was subtle and blended in with the aesthetic, but now it’s sticks out like a sore thumb. Another thing in that 2/3 times that I’d tap on the camcorder, it would give me a 30 second ad that would bring me to the App Store if I touched any part of the screen. Used to be great, but now it’s not really worth it. I don’t have a problem with watermarks, just make it like the older version. It’s actually extremely great app I did not use it for video editing or picture and then I used it just for the making of the video it worked just like a real VHS you were able to save it and it was great! it clearly said that when you download it you need to make in game purchases so for everyone who saying that they were so surprised they need to buy a pack so they can save a 15 second video clip that they edited from the camera roll, it’s exactly what they said they’re gonna have to do. Downloaded the app in 2017, paid for the Pro version, and it worked great for about a year. I’ve been trying to use the app for a project, but I can’t record video, as the ‘viewfinder’ is completely covered by a glitch, making it impossible to see what you’re shooting. I was so determined to get it to work, I was willing to shoot blindly and adjust as necessary, but that wasn’t an option either, as the app crashes when you try to save what you’ve recorded. So I got this app, and It looked cool! I wanted to give it a shot because I thought maybe it would be better than the other apps I got, I tried it and put my video, and when I went to go for backgrounds and for the stickers only 2 or 1 backgrounds were non premium and they weren’t that good, and for the stickers, I guess it’s okay but a lot of them we had to pay. I didn’t get this app to edit videos, I want to have a real vhs again. So I took videos and saved them. It did what it said it would do. With a proper vhs u don’t get to edit photos broooo like that defeats the whole purpose. So I was normal and used it normally (unlike people that are complaining) and took grate videos and pictures and saved them to my album on apple. I really really recommend this if you are reading this lol. Don’t have an alarm go off on your phone!
I love the look of this app, but there is an issue that ruined a memory for me. I was recording a birthday surprise with this to have a vintage look. As I was filming, an alarm went off on my phone with the usual notification dropdown. I swiped up to shut it off and the video was still recording fine (so I thought). When I went to rewatch the video the alarm caused the app to shut off the recording audio, which meant I have no audio from that point on. On a positive note this happened with the free trial! I won’t be paying for this app.

I'll be honest this app has everything to make a retro music video, however, I wish you weren't forced to pay a monthly membership it just doesn't make sense as this app. I wish the the developers would remove the memberships option and make it a one-time purchase app. I would be perfectly happy paying $1.99 or even $9.99 for this app if I only had to pay for this once. Please I hope the developers see this you've made a good app but stop being overcharging your app I would rather get a Netflix subscription then buy this app because you get more for your dollar!

You know you would get a lot more downloads if people can do more on the app like putting the vhs 90’s filter on videos and photos from their camera role, because there are a young audience that can’t purchase apps like these. Great concept, deceptive money-making ploy
When I started using this app, I really loved it. As someone who isn’t typically a video taker, I found myself getting inspired to make a home video. I’m on vacation for several more days, and I was even planning on spending the five dollars for another week of premium, even though I’ve never spent a dollar on any other app. I was immediately turned off by the fact that you cannot turn off your subscription within the app. Many comments are from people desperately trying to do so. So I downloaded this app and used it once and in order to save my video I had to subscribe. So I did this. But then it looked terrible and the app didn’t even have that many features. So I deleted it. For some reason I thought that me deleting it would have unsubscribed myself. That was dumb on my part. So I downloaded this app, thinking that it would be cool since I can edit my photos and videos on there, but oh was I wrong. Unlike any other app that is similar, there are little to no ads. But usually when one pops up, it freezes my screen for a couple minutes, then it crashes and I have to start over again! Not cool! Not only that, but you have to pay for EVERYTHING. The price is very cheap for it, yes, but I’m not spending my money on an app that I can’t use because the limited version barely has anything! I first download this app thinking that it would be free! (clearly i was mistaken) The only way for you to make a video on this app is for you to get premium! I’m Disappointed
I was really excited for this app because my friends and I take loads of videos together, and this seemed like something we’d enjoy. It was not. You can’t go more than a minute without a pop up ad, which I wouldn’t mind if the ads were letting me do ANYTHING, but there are almost no features available without premium, which is like... $4.99/ week???? Wayyy too much. Everything seems fine. Effects are great, app runs perfect. Only problem for me is when I try to save my edit, it keeps saying "Failed to extract audio. Try again." Not sure what's going on with that, I've tried multiple times for the past hour and I don't want to have to try to find another VHS Effect app because this one is absolutely perfect. Bug or on purpose?
The app is great and fun to mess around with but the recent update has made it impossible to cancel the thing that tells you that you’re using a preview version for pictures which is absolutely ridiculous if it’s on purpose. If this is a bug I hope it’s fixed soon because I can’t do any editing of photos just for fun because the thing blocks my photos or what I need to edit them with.
