The fact that the app is littered with ads despite it costing €34 a month is incredibly trashy. And they’re not just ads, they’re ads that seem to follow you through the articles. So if you scroll past then, they simply load lower down. Again, for €34 this is so trashy. Can’t even read an article without being interrupted every few lines. Cancelled and I’d never pay for this rubbish again.

The amount of usability issues and bugs in the app are staggering. For this price it’s especially ridiculous. Worst of all, it barely gets any updates and when it does, 6 months later, it’s for a minor ‘improvement’ nobody needs compared to all of the major problems that never get addressed. The desktop app is also full of flaws, but at least it’s mostly functional. This one is just terrible. The price and the lack of updates are just disrespectful to users. I tried Carrot again once it became easier to disable all of the snark stuff, that I always found quite cheesy. The app looks really nice now, if not a bit over-complicated for a weather app. However, it syncs poorly with the Apple Watch. More often than not, the weather data on the watch complications is wrong. Opening the app on the watch doesn’t remedy this. You need to open the iPhone app as well before it gets corrected. I used the Athletic for a year. There is some really great content in the app. But I don’t think it’s compelling enough to pay for again. I’m happy with The Guardian etc.

I’ve used Paprika all the time for a few years and mostly think it’s fantastic. However, I wish it was more innovative sometimes. For example, a way to photograph recipes and convert them into text would be great. Also, the app has a terrible in-app browser that feels very outdated and is quite awkward to use. The in-app version of Safari would be far better.

I owe a lot to what I've learned on Coursera courses and I'm delighted they're finally making iPad a focus, but this app doesn't seem ready for release. It feels barely like an alpha release. Too limited, too many bugs.
