The United app used to work fairly ok throughout the different phases of the passenger journey. It has always been rather buggy, especially the check in flow, but other than that it was working fine. But as of late, it’s been worse. Check in is easier but still buggy (the app won’t remember whether you had already checked in or not and will have you go through the flow again) but it is SO hard to retrieve your boarding pass.
