I think they just use non-paying users for location tracking. This app kind of makes navigation more difficult. You have to be careful about trusting the initial suggestions because it will vary. If you actually understand the schedule for the bus you can save yourself a lot of trouble. For example it will suggest you walk a block out of your way due to a bus stop that it claims is out of service. But if I look more carefully, my bus was right around the corner.
