When calibration is checked against a known bearing, it varies greatly around a 360 degree compass check course. It is fine to use when figuring out the general direction, but I don’t recommend it for serious navigation when accuracy matters. Certainly not for marine navigation - you’ll run yourself aground, or worse! I’m quite surprised and disappointed that Apple would let this by. I recommend free compass apps available here in the Apple App Store, such as Commander Compass. Most can be upgraded for a minor subscription fee.
