eBay seems to systematically charge you VAT when you purchase something, and when you receive the item, you have to pay the same VAT to customs. Reclaiming the VAT from eBay is almost impossible, it took me numerous e-mails last time where they were gaslighting me that the VAT I had paid to customs was not VAT at all.
