For the most basic tasks, such as saving a restaurant for later, it requires that you make an account. You need to give your details, plus agree to their terms and privacy policy. That should never be necessary, it would be perfectly doable to have that data locally on the device. It does let you search without an account, but since you need one for everything else it becomes quite less useful.
