The app will offer fake deals and discounts to trick you into subscribing. It will claim to give you a discount off a price which never actually existed. But, you are actually just paying the same base price which is available on their site with zero discounts or promotions. They just lie and make you feel like you “got a good deal” making you more likely to pay. You are paying the same price as everyone else regardless of discounts. Do not trust this company. The company of Proton claims it supports a free and open internet and are anti-censorship. Yet, despite this, they actively participate in censorship via their VPN by blocking some sites. Its a fine VPN otherwise but it’s extremely disappointing to see Proton begin to sell out like everyone else. Perhaps I need to start looking for an alternative email provider as well.

The UI in some parts of this app are just bad. It feels like I’m scrolling through a tabloid website. They also force you to make an account including demanding an email and your birth year. Its weird and extremely unnecessary for those not interested in the “social” aspects. I’ve also seen other apps do similar things in that regard without needing you to make an account. So, I’m inclined to believe this is a data harvesting technique. Then, if you try to make a “commitment” that isn't one of the three basic ones available then you have to go to an external web browser to finish the proce
