I don't particularly trust bankless apps, especially those owned by PayPal (infamously between class action lawsuits, mind you); yet, for whatever reason, Venmo seems to be the poison of choice for many. I gave it a go, considering I was buying something online from someone who only uses Venmo, but Venmo cutely suspended by account for "suspicious" (unused) activity. I am not stupid; I have seen many people complain of this same thing, so I knew this was their attempt at getting my personal information.
