Yes, the puzzles are a little easier than the usual Cube Escape and Rusty Lake games but, for me, it was refreshing to solve puzzles without hints from a walk through. It fills in Robert Hill’s backstory. At the same time it’s a sardonic and compassionate look at trauma related mental health.

Taylor is the friend that was missing in my life. The quirky brave optimist who drags me along on crazy adventures and gratefully depends on my advice and companionship. Who doesn’t need a friend like that?

I was one of those rare people who, years ago, was disappointed by the first House of DaVinci. I was hesitant to buy the sequel. Eventually I couldn’t resist any longer and I am blown away by how perfect House of DaVinci 2 is. After I finish it I’m going to try the first one again. The updates probably fixed the finicky controls. The developers have clearly done their homework. I’m very impressed.

I took advantage of the Hallowe’en sale to treat myself to this spooky-cute adventure. I’m more of a puzzler than a platformer but the controls and graphics are so user friendly that even I was able to accomplish the levels without getting frustrated.

It’s unusual to find a game, or even a story, that skillfully involves several serious (borderline taboo) emotional subjects with a mix of cheeky irreverence and transcendent possibility.
