You can actually use it for free- just make sure you don’t accidentally buy a contract- it does a Bluetooth check. I was shocked to find other 70 items in my vicinity and I live in a house not an apartment. The thing I don’t like is it very specifically wants to know EXACTLY where you are. It would be different if it asked to check my Wi-Fi or something like AirDrop to see who is in my area but no it specifically needs to know your location.
