I flew a transatlantic flight on United with no problems. My problem happened when I booked through United and I got stranded on Air Canada. In larger markets it may be different but in smaller hubs with no kiosks, agents, or curbside check-in you may have to rebook like I did. Mechanical issues don’t happen everyday.
