I'm coming back to Merlin now that new birds are in my area for the spring. Compared to last year, the soundID feature is almost useless. I know that the mic is working because I can see the calls clearly in the little display, but it won't ID the bird. Even when they are common, obvious birds, like chickadees and house finches! From reading on Reddit it sounds like maybe the app was made to be more conservative to prevent people from misreporting unique birds. But honestly if this had been the version of the app I had originally downloaded, I never would have gotten into birding. I would neve
