I’ve played this game for a long time, first as F2P. But the way the game has developed the last two years, thanks to the ever growing greed of its developers, you will not be able to compete with others anymore unless you spend a LOT of money. And with the latest introduction of Ninja Turtles (another purely marketing driven feature), they spoiled the game for good and many long-term players left the game for good, including myself. Better go and play another game.
