Real world experience: had savings outside the US that I wanted to earn a higher interest rate on, Revolut offered the best rate so opened an account and transferred the funds. At the end of the first month, no interest credited, support informed me I had to also open a savings account, I did and transferred funds, the app automatically exchanged to USD with no clear check points/confirmation.
