If you start from the beginning with no prior knowledge of the language, Babbel is not a good choice at all. Each Unit progresses too fast with rather over complicated words. I personally prefer Pimsleur or Duolingo.

I had purchased several courses and downloaded those for offline reading purpose. However they disappear again. Some of these courses are rather large and take a while. I had to do it a few times, but the content disappears again after a while. In the settings it says downloaded but even the small orange icons disappear. When I want to view the content offline it requests to be connected to the net. Very frustrating.
